Chapter 66 Guaranteeing Mission Completion
Wu Qingluan chuckled, her tone softening. "Su Xi, since I have access to this secret, I also have access to the whole story. If I find out more later, I will definitely tell you. But if I go to prison, this secret will probably never see the light of day again. Right now, I just want freedom and I promise I will never target you again."
Su Xi simply said two words in a deep voice, "Go ahead."
Having exhausted all the bargaining chips, Wu Qingluan simply stated directly, "The one who killed your mother was a member of the Feng family, but I don't know exactly who it was."
And the impact wasn't severe; your mother shouldn't have died, but she did. There's more to this than that..."
The rest is self-explanatory; those who know, know.
Su Xi's eyes instantly turned bloodshot, and her fists clenched so tightly they turned white.
The compensation for killing someone and maiming them is indeed vastly different, but the Feng family is not short of money, so there must be some hidden story behind this.
She would never let her mother leave this world without knowing why.
As for Wu Qingluan, her grandmother's life was a thousand times more important than that woman's freedom. Su Xi chose to put aside things she wasn't absolutely certain about for the time being, but she wouldn't let this matter go so easily.
Early the next morning, Su Xi and Ye Qingqian went to the hospital to visit Luo Chen.
While Ye Qingqian was out, Su Xi bit her lower lip and asked, "Little brother, was there anything unusual the day Mom had the car accident?"
She wasn't in Los Angeles that day, so she could only ask her brother.
"Was there something fishy about Mom's death?"
"No, it's just that I feel really guilty about what happened to you. I keep dreaming about Mom lately, so I asked. If you remember any unusual details, you can tell me."
"I understand." Su Luochen unconsciously gripped the blanket tighter, but her face remained expressionless.
Ye Qingqian pushed the door open and came in, looking at Su Xi, "Don't you still have work to do? You go ahead and do your work. I'll stay here with Luo Chen. I'll leave whenever he kicks me out."
After saying that, he smiled and glanced at Luo Chen.
Su Luochen's eyes flickered slightly. He wanted to get rid of her right now, but seeing how pitiful she sounded, he decided to let it go.
Su Xi gave a few more instructions, then took a taxi straight to Tiancheng. Today was Saturday, and she was working part-time as an AI consultant there to review projects that were about to be released.
Upon seeing that the consultant was a young woman, the group exchanged glances, wondering if she had forged her resume, since the previous clients were all middle-aged men and women with receding hairlines.
"Miss, did you come to the wrong door? Turn left at the restroom, hahaha."
Sensing the malice in the other person's tone, Su Xi remained indifferent and said, "Bring me your program."
The woman bit her lip; this was clearly retaliation, so she could only push the computer over in annoyance.
She has consulted many brothers who study AI, and the program is definitely fine. If this woman dares to take revenge, she will immediately report to headquarters.
Su Xi casually typed a few words on the computer, then pushed the laptop back with a blank expression. "Go and revise it."
Upon seeing that three errors had been marked, the woman in the black dress glared at Su Xi like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, her voice sharp and rising, "I'm not convinced! I'm going to report you!"
The moment she finished speaking, everyone else in the office, especially the woman in the black dress's male colleagues who were close to her, gathered around and stared at Su Xi with unfriendly expressions.
Su Xi's face grew even colder. Just as she was about to say something, the door was pushed open, and several senior executives from Tiancheng escorted a noble and elegant man into the room.
Upon seeing Feng Jue, the people in the office dispersed from their group and bowed slightly to the man.
The woman in the black dress glanced at Feng Jue, and her heart nearly leaped out of her low-cut dress.
The woman's eyes instantly reddened, as if she had suffered a great injustice but forced herself to hold it in. "President Feng, I don't know where I offended Miss Su. She's deliberately targeting me. She insisted on changing the correct procedure into the wrong one. I don't mind suffering a little injustice, but I really can't bear to see the company suffer losses for nothing."
Feng Jue glanced at Su Xi, then looked at the computer, his voice calm, "Consultant Su, could you explain this?"
Su Xi moved her lips and used a simple and easy-to-understand way to express the obscure professional terminology in a few words.
The woman in the black dress trembled slightly with her thick false eyelashes, a bad feeling creeping over her.
"It's definitely wrong, terribly wrong. Who hired this woman?" The moment Feng Jue looked up from the computer, his face turned icy cold.
"Mr. Feng... it's me." The manager stepped forward with a bitter expression, sweat beading on his bald head.
"With this level of skill, she got into Tiancheng? Deduct a month's salary and fire this woman immediately."
"Yes, Mr. Feng." The bald manager breathed a sigh of relief.
The woman in the black dress was utterly shocked. How could this have happened? Shouldn't it be the domineering CEO rescuing the damsel in distress?
She was about to say something when several colleagues pulled her back and covered her mouth. This woman had ruined herself; they couldn't let her drag them down with her.
After working for a while, Su Xi got up and went to the tea room to make a cup of raspberry tea. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a tall figure walking over.
"Xiaoxi, I'm also partly responsible for the employee's rudeness. I apologize, please don't take it to heart."
Su Xi looked up at the man and said, "Uncle, please call me by my full name."
Sensing the woman's cold attitude, the man's peach blossom eyes flickered. "There are no outsiders here."
"Uncle, whether there are outsiders or not, I hope you will call me by my full name."
Feng Jue was taken aback. The woman deliberately addressed him as "Uncle" in a junior's tone, as a reminder to him to maintain distance and propriety.
The man chuckled lightly, "Su Xi, Feng Jinchen is right about one thing: I'm your uncle, it's only right that I save you. You're not overthinking it, are you?"
"It's good that I'm not overthinking it."
Feng Jue unconsciously clenched his fist at his side, staring straight into Su Xi's eyes for a good three to five seconds before finally uttering two words, "Of course." Then he turned and left.
Only after the man walked away did Su Xi's indifferent and calm gaze soften. She finished her hot tea sip by sip and then threw herself into her work.
When she came to Tiancheng again on Sunday, her colleagues looked at her like she was a god, and no one dared to come and cause trouble anymore.
Feng Wenzhou was a distant relative of the Feng family. He was overjoyed to see that he was a match.
If he donates bone marrow, President Feng will definitely treat him well. He will live a life of luxury and even rise through social classes in the near future.
Just as he was thinking of celebrating with his friends, Wang Dong called. He knew Wang Dong was President Feng's trusted assistant, and even though the other person couldn't see him, he smiled obsequiously.
After hearing something from the other end, the man grinned from ear to ear, "Brother Wang, don't worry, I guarantee I'll complete the mission."
As soon as Su Xi arrived at the residential area, she saw a man she didn't recognize walking towards her with a smile.
"You must be Miss Su Xi?"
"I am, you are..."
“I am Feng Wenzhou, and my bone marrow is a match for your brother’s. You won’t believe me, just look.”
When Su Xi saw the text message from the hospital on her phone, her eyes welled up with tears of joy.
She sensed that the man seemed to have something to say, so she invited him to sit down at a nearby coffee shop.
The man readily agreed.
