Chapter 107 The Illusion of Green Light
After hearing clearly what nonsense Feng Jinchen had said in front of so many old friends, Old Master Feng was so angry that his beard trembled.
"That's utter nonsense." The old man slapped the teapot away, splashing hot tea onto Feng Jinchen's face.
My body aches, but my heart aches even more. Even with all this irrefutable evidence, Grandpa still sides with Feng Jue; his favoritism is utterly boundless.
Feng Jinchen straightened his back. "Grandpa, everything I said is the truth. If you don't believe me, you can check the surveillance footage. You can also arrest that old woman and interrogate her."
Seeing his grandson's confident assertion, the old man glanced at his youngest son. The latter remained indifferent, displaying a nonchalant, detached air, as if it were none of his business.
None of them seemed to be faking it, which put the old man in a dilemma.
"Dad, Jinchen is drunk. He's talking nonsense. I'll take him downstairs to sober up." Liu Yufeng hurriedly grabbed her son, trying to signal him with her eyes from an angle where no one could see, but Feng Jinchen just wouldn't leave.
"Mom, I need my uncle to give me an explanation. I believe Grandpa is fair and upright and will not allow his son to bully his grandson."
A mocking voice came from behind, "Old Feng, didn't you boast about how well you manage the household? What is this nonsense? Hmm~ tsk tsk."
The old man's face flushed red, and he finally spoke sternly, "Someone, go and investigate!"
Upon hearing this, cold sweat broke out all over Liu Yufeng's body.
She slapped Feng Jinchen across the face. "Don't you know what kind of occasion this is? You can't just say things like that. Come with me, I have something to tell you."
This was the first time his mother had ever hit him, and she had done it in front of so many people. Feng Jinchen was so angry that his nose was crooked.
The狰狞 (zhengning, meaning ferocious or hideous) face made Liu Yufeng flinch.
For the first time ever, Old Master Feng gave Liu Yufeng a look of approval. "Yufeng, don't get agitated. There's definitely more to this than meets the eye. It's not Jinchen's fault, nor is it Feng Jue's. Just sit down."
How could Liu Yufeng sit still?
The old man smiled apologetically at his old friends, "I don't know what kind of wicked villain dared to cause trouble at the banquet and spoil everyone's enjoyment. I will punish the scoundrel later and then apologize to everyone properly."
Liu Yufeng's legs went weak and she almost sat down on the ground.
"Dad, let's handle this privately since it's something that would offend others. I'll take Jinchen to the study to wait."
Seeing Liu Yufeng's guilty conscience, Feng Jue lightly tapped the table with his beautiful fingers and spoke leisurely before the old man could agree, "This matter concerns my reputation, so it's better to discuss it here."
Then he looked at the old man and said, "Dad, since you also believe that a villain is behind this, it should be handled openly and transparently so that we, uncle and nephew, can be cleared of all wrongdoing in public."
Grandpa Feng nodded. "That's right. This person is stirring up trouble and sowing discord. I want to see who he really is."
His sharp gaze swept over several old friends, including his old love rivals and business opponents with whom he had had unpleasant encounters. Perhaps someone here was causing trouble.
Seeing that the situation was beyond repair, Liu Yufeng was so anxious that her furrowed brows could practically trap a fly.
Suddenly, her eyes darted around, and an idea came to her.
She secretly texted her daughter, asking her to bring Su Xi over.
Soon after receiving a message that they had arrived outside, Liu Yufeng got up and went out.
Upon seeing Su Xi, she grabbed the woman without saying a word and pulled her behind a tree, lowering her voice, "Su Xi, you'd better remember every single word I'm about to say."
Your husband was drugged and almost slept with by another woman, and now he's accusing your brother-in-law of doing it. Don't you like Feng Jue? And if the uncle and nephew fight over you, your reputation will be ruined.
"Just tell them that the woman you were with was you in disguise, trying to look like you were in your fifties or sixties to see if Jinchen would mind. It was just a joke, but it went too far and caused a misunderstanding. It's all your fault, understand?"
Liu Yufeng spoke extremely fast, her hair practically steaming from her urgency.
Su Xi understood each word individually, but when put together, it was all a bit confusing. She looked at the woman with suspicion.
Seeing that Su Xi didn't understand, Liu Yufeng was furious. "Look at you, so stupid! I'll say it one more time, this is the last time. If you dare to say a single wrong word, I'll kill you. Do you hear me?"
Instead of being subservient and obedient as usual, Su Xi looked at her coldly.
This made Liu Yufeng even angrier, and she raised her hand to slap him.
The moment the slap landed on her face, Su Xi's arm was pulled by a warm hand, and she stumbled back a few steps, crashing into a solid chest.
Liu Yufeng's slap missed its mark.
Su Xi was quite surprised to see Feng Jue, while Liu Yufeng was somewhat horrified.
"Feng...Feng Jue, what brings you here?"
The man sneered, deliberately raising his voice, "As a mother-in-law, slapping her daughter-in-law at the drop of a hat, if this gets out, it will probably not be good for the Feng family's reputation."
The sound traveled clearly into the room.
Feng Jinchen rushed out immediately, frowning as he looked at Liu Yufeng, "Mom, what's wrong with you? If you're angry, just hit me, why are you hitting my wife?"
What an image of a devoted husband who fiercely protects his wife!
A maid came over and said, "The old master wants you all to come inside."
Liu Yufeng felt uneasy and had a bad feeling. She glanced at Su Xi as she took a step forward, her eyes full of threat.
"What's going on? Your son hit her, but Xiaoxi is a girl. You shouldn't hit someone in the face. What exactly are you trying to do?"
Liu Yufeng looked like she had suffered a great injustice. "It was all Su Xi's doing with Jinchen's affairs. She dressed up as someone in their fifties or sixties to see if my son would mind her looking old, but it backfired and she refused to come in and clarify things. I hit her in a moment of panic."
"Xiaoxi, did you really do this?"
Su Xi lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. This matter concerned her uncle, and she didn't know whether she should admit it or not.
Her uncle saved her life multiple times, and she was willing to take the blame to pay off his debts.
Seeing that Su Xi acquiesced, Old Master Feng slammed his fist on the table. “Nonsense! Is this the kind of place where you can act recklessly? Besides, that kind of medicine will have some effect on a man’s body. If something happens to Jin Chen, you will be the eternal sinner of the Feng family.”
Feng Jinchen's gaze towards Su Xi instantly shifted from disbelief to chilling coldness. If there weren't so many people present, he would definitely have grabbed this woman by the neck and questioned her about her thoughts.
It must be for the purpose of bestowing a title upon him!
"Sister-in-law, I think you were just joking; you really wanted to harm my brother. How could you be so vicious?"
Seeing that everyone believed Su Xi was the culprit and looked at her with contempt, anger, and disdain, Liu Yufeng felt extremely smug.
"Xiaoxi, you've disappointed your grandfather greatly. Someone, come here!"
"Oh-"
A pleasant laugh rang out, tinged with three parts mockery and seven parts indifference.
Everyone looked at Feng Jue.
Old Master Feng's face twitched slightly. Feng Jue had challenged his authority in front of so many people, which made him lose face.
Ignoring the old man's sharp gaze, Feng Jue looked at Su Xi, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"You could do something like this? Don't worry, I didn't do it."
What does that mean? Feng Jinchen looked at Feng Jue suspiciously, then at Su Xi, sensing a tacit understanding and an ambiguous undertone between the two.
It gave him the sudden illusion of being bathed in green light.
