Chapter 23 I Can't Find a Man Who Loves You More Than Me
Feng Jinchen's face was extremely ugly. His woman didn't sleep with him and even went to live alone outside. It was simply the most ridiculous thing in the world.
If this gets back to other people, won't he lose all face?
Feng Jinchen made the call immediately, his uncle's warning still ringing in his ears, and he had to deliberately soften his voice, "Xixi, where are you?"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone before Su Xi spoke, "Didn't we agree to give each other three months?"
"I'm giving you three months to consider our relationship, not for you to move out."
"I want to move out, just like you want to cheat on me. This is my wish, what do you want?"
Feng Jinchen's eyebrows twitched. He forced himself to ignore the sarcasm and indifference in Su Xi's tone, and his voice remained gentle. "Xi Xi, do you have to keep harping on this mistake of mine? Move back. If Grandpa, Grandma, and your grandmother find out, they'll definitely be very worried about you."
Su Xi's heart sank. It sounded nice, but it was actually a veiled threat.
"No, it's close to the company, I can walk to and from get off work. You know I get carsick."
Besides, compared to my problems, your problems are probably more of a worry for Grandpa and Grandma, aren't they?
Feng Jinchen's grip on his phone tightened. Su Xi was truly different from before; she had learned to retaliate in kind, treating him with such indifference. Wasn't she afraid of breaking his heart?
With a soft sigh, Feng Jinchen relented, "Alright, tell me where you are? I'll come see you. You know, even if you don't tell me, I have a thousand ways to find you."
"I moved out because I wanted some peace and quiet. You can come, but you can't stay overnight."
Feng Jinchen's chest tightened suddenly. "Are you really going to distance yourself from me?"
"I told you, I want to be alone. If I cheated on you, would you still be able to sleep in the same bed with me calmly every day?"
Upon hearing such words, even if it was just a hypothetical, Feng Jinchen's face suddenly changed color, and an extremely oppressive aura almost locked Su Xi tightly through the telephone line.
Sensing the oppressive atmosphere on the other end, Su Xi tightened her grip on her phone and unconsciously bit her lip.
After a full few seconds, Feng Jinchen's heartbroken voice finally came through, "Okay, I promise you."
When Feng Jinchen arrived, he wasn't dressed in a suit and tie, but rather in casual clothes, carrying two bulging supermarket shopping bags.
Su Xi glanced at it in surprise, her gaze lingering on the two plump scallions and a few tender cucumbers that were sticking out, her surprise deepening.
The scene looked incredibly eerie. It was like Tang Sanzang sitting there with his legs crossed, puffing out smoke.
Feng Jinchen's gaze swept past the woman and around the house. His brows furrowed, and a hint of heartache flashed in his eyes. "Xixi, this place of yours is too small and too simple."
He carried the bags of groceries into the kitchen as if he knew them well. Seeing several unopened moving company boxes in the living room, he rolled up his sleeves, opened the boxes, and arranged the various items inside in their proper places.
As he tidied up, he glanced at the slender, petite woman with affection, saying, "This family can't do without a man."
Su Xi didn't reply, instead curling up on the sofa like a cat and watching the man bustling around.
Feng Jinchen quickly tidied up, washed his hands, and hugged Su Xi. He placed a restrained kiss on her forehead and smiled seductively, "I'll let you taste my cooking tonight."
She watched in shock as the man walked into the kitchen, put on a little yellow duck apron, and then watched in shock as he came out, his backside facing her.
"Xixi, help me tie it up."
Su Xi casually tied a bow and watched the little yellow duck walk into the kitchen. The sliding door blocked her view, and she was still a little dazed.
Feng Jinchen had never cooked before. No, when they were deeply in love, Feng Jinchen did have a specialty dish: sour and spicy scallion-flavored bean curd sheets with some tender cucumber shreds, which was especially refreshing and appetizing in the summer.
However, this was just a cold dish. Feng Jinchen had never cooked before.
He won't blow up the kitchen, will he?
Su Xi silently opened all the windows, then retreated to the doorway, ready to run away at any moment.
There was a lot of banging and clanging coming from the kitchen, but there wasn't much of a cooking smell.
When the colorful dishes filled the table, Su Xi was dumbfounded.
A delicious and visually appealing dish of shredded bean curd sheets mixed with cucumber, and glistening watermelon chunks cut into diamond shapes and skewered with toothpicks.
Apart from these two dishes, the rest were all pre-cooked, some even with ice crystals, indicating they weren't fully heated.
Even the seaweed and egg drop soup is a testament to advanced technology and meticulous craftsmanship.
The little yellow duck turned its rear end towards her again. Su Xi rubbed her temples and took off its apron.
The young couple sat down side by side. Feng Jinchen placed chopsticks in Su Xi's palm, his handsome face beaming with a solicitous smile. "Good wife, quickly try your husband's cooking."
Su Xi picked up a piece of spicy and sour bean curd skin wrapped with chopped scallions and cucumber strips, and slowly chewed it. It was still the familiar taste, and every bite was so delicious that it warmed her heart. It was a pity that she hadn't eaten it since she got married.
Su Xi felt a pang of sadness, her eyes burning. Feng Jinchen had indeed put in effort. However, she no longer needed his sincerity; she only needed his money.
"Is it tasty?"
Feng Jinchen stared intently at Su Xi, his starry eyes seemingly filled with countless heart-shaped peach petals falling from within.
Su Xi glanced at him expressionlessly, said nothing, and continued eating.
Feng Jinchen picked up his chopsticks. "Xixi, I was wrong about what happened today. I shouldn't have doubted you. It was because I love you so much. If it were any other woman, I wouldn't care about her life or death, let alone her innocence."
After a moment, he said seriously, "Wife, stop being so temperamental. Let's live a good life together, just like before. You really won't find a man who loves you more than me... Life will be very difficult for you without me. Don't torture yourself anymore, and don't torture me anymore, okay..."
Su Xi didn't want to speak, but Feng Jinchen kept using his signature PUA tactics to humiliate her ears, and she finally couldn't take it anymore and put down her chopsticks.
A mocking smile curved her lips as she stared directly at the hypocritical man before her, asking each word slowly and deliberately.
"Feng Jinchen, why are you suddenly being so nice to me? Is it because you and Wu Yaoyao are still having an on-and-off relationship, or is she pregnant?"
Feng Jinchen's hand holding the chopsticks trembled, and his heart skipped a beat, but on his face he looked incredulous and heartbroken. "Xixi, it's only natural to be good to your wife. Why do you see everything as a conspiracy? Do you really think I'm that worthless?"
You know what you're doing.
One sentence almost cracked Feng Jinchen's impeccable expression.
Neither of them spoke again.
Feng Jinchen lowered his eyes to hide the suspicion in them. Had his uncle told her about that matter? No way. If he had told her, he wouldn't have sent Su Xi away to reprimand him alone.
He hesitated, then spoke as if casually.
"Xixi, I'll take you to the hospital for infertility testing when I have some free time."
Su Xi's fist clenched instantly under the table.
She absolutely must not let this man know that she is pregnant.
