Chapter 15 Are you planning to spend the night in my room?
"Uncle."
Feng Jue frowned, his gaze sweeping over the woman's scantily clad body, his pupils involuntarily trembling.
He put on the bathrobe without making a sound.
He grabbed another bathrobe and draped it over Su Xi. The man exuded a fierce aura as he quickly pulled the bathrobe up, his movements as elegant as if he were playing a fine zither.
Completely blocking out the beautiful scenery, the man then asked in a cold voice, "What's going on?"
"I..." Su Xi blushed and couldn't say it.
How did you get in?
"Climb through the window."
Upon hearing this, the man strode towards the balcony, returning with a face as dark as ink. "Are you out of your mind? I'm asking you, is your innocence more important or your life?"
Su Xi bit her lip; she had jumped off the balcony in a moment of impulse. Thinking about it now, she felt a little scared.
His cold gaze met Su Xi's shattered starlight, and in an instant, a certain string in his heart seemed to be touched.
The man's cold and ruthless aura gradually subsided, and his voice softened as he spoke softly, "Su Xi, shall we get a divorce?"
Su Xi looked up and her gaze met the man's deep eyes. It was as if unfamiliar emotions welled up in each of their eyes, but they quickly withdrew.
The woman shook her head. "I haven't planned on that yet."
A self-deprecating smile tugged at the corner of the man's mouth, and his expression turned cold.
There was a knock on the door.
"Uncle, are you there?" It was Feng Jinchen's voice.
"Uncle, don't tell anyone I'm here."
Feng Jue did not respond. The moment he turned around, his bathrobe was pulled by the woman, revealing most of his shoulders and his pectoral muscles.
"I'm sorry." The woman hurriedly tiptoed and clumsily straightened the man's collar. Her clear, dull doe eyes were filled with pleading and deep apology.
"Don't worry, what good would it do me to tell you?"
The moment the door opened, Feng Jinchen saw that Feng Jue seemed very unhappy, his face was even colder and more icy, and his gaze towards him was faintly filled with murderous intent.
Feng Jinchen hesitated for a moment, then braced himself and asked, "Uncle, have you seen Su Xi?"
The man scoffed and retorted, "You're asking me about your wife?"
Feng Jinchen chuckled and tried to leave, but the man spoke again, "Nephew, you're only the acting president now. You need to be careful with your private life. If you bring shame to the company, your promotion will be a long way off."
Almost fleeing in panic, Feng Jinchen was convinced that his uncle was referring to the incident where he forced himself on Su Xi in the garden. The thought that Su Xi would be furious this time made him feel like he'd fallen into an ice cave; he knew he was facing a nightmare of trying to win her back.
"Uncle, thank you."
Feng Jue gave her a cold glance. "You're planning to spend the night in my room?"
The woman's face flushed visibly. She glanced at the door, her eyes hesitant. Feng Jinchen shouldn't have gone far; what if she ran into him...?
"You two are husband and wife, you can't keep avoiding him. Please leave, I need to rest."
Su Xi lowered her eyes. Her uncle was right. Feng Jinchen should be sober now. Even if they really met, he wouldn't do anything to her again.
"Okay, I'll leave now."
Where to?
"hotel."
The man remained noncommittal. Su Xi then walked towards the door.
"Wait a moment."
Su Xi stopped in her tracks, puzzled, and saw the man take a black suit jacket. "Wearing a bathrobe isn't appropriate. Change into this."
Watching the woman leave, the man, as if possessed, opened his phone, turned on the security camera, and watched until the woman hailed a taxi and left outside the old house before he felt relieved.
"Mind your own business, she's not my wife," the man muttered, tossing his phone onto the bed and getting up to take a shower.
hotel.
Su Xi was very tired and fell asleep almost as soon as her head hit the bed.
In her half-dreaming, half-awake state, her mind kept replaying the scene of her aloof and detached uncle's snow-white, bamboo-like fingers pulling at her bathrobe.
Suddenly, that face changed to Feng Jinchen.
"No!" Su Xi suddenly woke up with a start.
A soft, bright ray of morning light shone in, and the fine dust motes could even be seen floating in the air. Su Xi's mood was no longer as depressed as it had been the night before.
I cleared my mind, turned on the TV, found a soap opera I'd watched countless times, and ate while watching it. It felt like stealing a moment of peace from my busy life.
She never knew before that life could be so leisurely and carefree.
After finishing her meal, Su Xi finally took out her silent phone and deleted all the 99+ messages from Feng Jinchen without even looking at them.
Ye Qingqian called to invite her to get together, and Su Xi agreed. She took a taxi to Twilight Cafe.
"Xixi, you don't look well. Did Feng Jinchen do something wrong again?"
Su Xi glanced at Ye Qingqian; her mouth must be blessed with good fortune. However, she was too embarrassed to speak out about the shameful things Feng Jinchen had done. She just remained silent.
Seeing that Su Xi was unhappy, Ye Qingqian kept asking what had happened. Su Xi had no choice but to tell her about how her mother-in-law had made things difficult for her and how Feng Jue had saved the day.
"Damn it!" Ye Qingqian slammed the table in anger. "I really want to crack open their skulls and see what's going on. They're utterly shameless."
"Xixi, you're too kind. If it were me, I wouldn't care who it is, I'd grab him by the hair and hit him back."
"Luckily, Feng Jue was there, otherwise you would have been at a disadvantage." Ye Qingqian's eyes sparkled as she grabbed Su Xi's arm and shook it. "A hero saves the beauty! Tell me about it, tell me the details, I want to hear it."
Su Xi couldn't refuse, so she recalled for a moment and said with a smile, "...Uncle is actually a very good person. He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. He has a faint, cool fragrance that makes people feel at ease, unlike Feng Jinchen."
"I know, I know, Feng Jinchen smells of pine, like the scent of a 2B pencil."
Su Xi chuckled.
Ye Qingqian covered her mouth and laughed, secretly relieved that she had finally made Su Xi laugh.
The two girls laughed uncontrollably, oblivious to everyone around them, and it took them a long time to stop.
Ye Qingqian held Su Xi's hand and said, "Xi Xi, it's hard to find a three-legged toad, but there are plenty of two-legged men on the street. Feng Jinchen is such a scumbag and so bad. Why don't you marry his uncle and make him call you aunt?"
Su Xi was so frightened that she waved her hands repeatedly, "Don't say such things again, it's outrageous. Besides, I didn't see Feng Jinchen's true colors even after four years of relationship with him, and I've only met my uncle a few times."
"You're comparing me to scum?"
A pleasant voice rang out, like silk moistened by spring water.
Hearing that familiar voice, Su Xi's heart skipped a beat.
She looked up abruptly, her clear, rabbit-like eyes meeting Feng Jue's deep, lustrous black eyes in mid-air, and her heart skipped a beat.
The man stood there casually, yet exuded nobility and elegance, looking at her with a half-smile. Su Xi shrank back guiltily.
"Uncle..."
Feng Jue's eyes were deep, making it impossible to discern his emotions. After a long pause, he asked, "Are you... alright?"
Su Xi knew he was referring to what happened last night, and her cheeks flushed uncontrollably. She shook her head and said, "No...it's nothing."
Feng Jue looked at Su Xi.
The fact that you were laughing so loudly just now means you're really alright now.
Feng Jue clearly had other things to do, so he nodded to the two of them and left.
Ye Qingqian's expression of being overjoyed left Su Xi speechless.
Su Xi remembered that she had important matters to discuss with Ye Qingqian, and was about to speak when Su Luochen called.
"Sis, call that bastard Feng Jinchen right now, or he'll give my bone marrow matching spot to someone else."
