Chapter 330 The Only Mark She Left on Him
Su Luochen hissed, "Why did you suddenly marry Feng Jingnian?"
Su Xi hadn't expected him to ask that, and instinctively asked back, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"There's no problem. I don't mean you're bad, or that you're unworthy, it's just that the two of you suddenly seem a bit odd together."
Do you have some ulterior motive?
Or do you have some kind of leverage over Feng Jingnian?
After all, there's a four-year age gap. And nobody would believe that the child in his sister's belly is Feng Jingnian's.
Isn't this a classic case of being a sucker who ends up getting dumped?
Su Xi paused, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back. But she knew her younger brother's patience was always limited, so she quickly gathered her thoughts and prepared to explain.
The impatient voice on the other end came through: "Fine, if you don't want to talk, I don't care. You're my sister, not my mother. Even if you were my mother, it's you who takes care of me, not me. I'm just worrying unnecessarily. Fine, I'm hanging up."
Before Su Xi could speak, the other end hung up and wouldn't answer her calls again.
Su Xi gave a wry smile. Thinking back to the reason she married Feng Jingnian, it was somewhat melodramatic.
However, she will not regret it.
She went to the dressing room to change into her going-out clothes, opened the door, and walked to the spiral staircase, only to find Feng Jingnian already waiting for her in the living room, clearly having been waiting for quite some time.
Su Xi felt a pang of guilt and quickened her pace downstairs.
As a result, she accidentally missed the last step, cried out in surprise, and fell forward.
Her hands unconsciously groped around, grabbing the man's shirt. It seemed she even touched his warm chest.
There might also be the sound of fingernails scratching against the skin.
Everything happened too fast; Su Xi didn't have time to think it through. Besides, her grab had slipped.
Just as Su Xi was in a panic and her mind went blank, a strong hand scooped her up.
When Feng Jingnian saw Su Xi coming downstairs, he naturally went to greet her. Unexpectedly, Su Xi suddenly fell down. He was a little far away and was afraid that he would not be able to catch up in time, so his movements were a bit too big.
He scooped the woman up and held her in his arms.
Su Xi's face bumped into the man's chest, and she then realized that she had unbuttoned his shirt.
There seemed to be faint scratch marks from fingernails on his exposed chest.
She had actually left scratches on Feng Jingnian's chest. They seemed quite serious, with beads of blood beginning to appear.
But the man immediately grabbed Su Xi's shoulders and looked her up and down, asking, "Are you alright?"
Su Xi shook her head, "I'm fine. But you..."
As they spoke, beads of blood had already stained the white shirt on the man's chest.
Feng Jingnian then realized he was injured, but he didn't care at all. "I'm fine. Wait a moment, I'll change my clothes and come down."
"No, that won't do. The wound needs to be disinfected. Also, should we get a tetanus shot?"
Feng Jingnian smiled, "No need."
Su Xi blurted out, "Don't forget to apply the scar removal cream, and eat a lighter diet for the next few days."
Feng Jingnian was stunned for a moment, and his gaze toward Su Xi suddenly became deep. "Xi Xi, I didn't expect you to care about me so much."
Su Xi rolled her eyes at him. "What are you saying? You're making it sound like I'm some kind of incompetent person."
Feng Jingnian smiled sincerely, not wanting to keep the woman waiting, so he went upstairs to change his clothes. His long legs noticeably quickened their pace.
When he got to the restroom, he took off his white shirt, which was stained red with blood. When he saw the scratches on his chest, which had even torn off the skin and flesh, he smiled indulgently.
He simply wiped away the bloodstains, sprayed some alcohol on them, and put on a band-aid.
As for scar removal cream, he naturally didn't use it.
This might be the only trace Su Xi left on him.
Only a fool would remove it.
After changing into a dark shirt and putting on a matching suit, Feng Jingnian went downstairs.
Upon seeing Feng Jingnian, Su Xi was clearly surprised. "So fast?"
His gaze was fixed on the man's chest, and he suspected that the man hadn't actually done anything about it.
"Don't believe me? Why don't you check it yourself?"
Su Xi blushed, rolled her eyes, and left. She had overthought it; men are always faster than women at getting ready, showering, and dressing, so it wasn't unusual.
Feng Jingnian smiled and followed, and the two got into the car and drove to the restaurant they had booked.
We arrived at our destination in just over ten minutes.
After getting out of the car, Feng Jingnian opened the car door and reached out to help shield the roof from Su Xi's head.
Neither of them noticed the car next to their luxury car.
It is a sealed jade pendant.
After much anticipation, Pei Yun Shen finally got to see his mother visit him in prison.
"Mom, I have something really important to tell you, you have to stay calm. And you have to promise me you won't tell anyone, you have to lie low, and you have to avenge me."
Upon hearing this, Pei's mother tightened her grip on the telephone cord.
Looking at her son across the glass, she saw that he had become thin and gaunt in just a few days, and her eyes instantly filled with worry.
"What's wrong, son? Don't scare me!"
In that split second, Pei's mother imagined almost every terrible possibility. Was her son seriously ill? Had he been sexually assaulted in prison by a troublemaker? Was it...?
Seeing that Pei's mother was so impatient, Pei Yun Shen became a little annoyed. "Alright, what else can you do besides cry, make a scene, and threaten suicide? Can't you calm down? You've already gotten me into prison, do you want to kill me too?"
These words immediately calmed Pei's mother down. She tried her best to keep her expression steady, but she was still in a terrible panic, her heart aching as if it were about to break.
She knew her son must have suffered a tremendous injustice.
"I'm short on time, so I'll be blunt. If you mess this up, you'll have no one to take care of you in your old age."
Pei's mother took a few deep breaths, preparing herself mentally, and said, "Son, go ahead and tell me. What haven't I seen in my life?"
Pei Yun Shen remained expressionless, looking as if he were utterly heartbroken and devastated.
"The child in Luo Anya's belly is probably not mine."
"What?" Pei's mother's voice suddenly rose sharply, her features contorted into a terrifying and ugly shape, almost causing her to break down on the spot.
The son worked diligently as someone's lapdog and backup plan, only to be used and manipulated in return, and in the end, even the son wasn't his own.
Her beloved grandson is gone just like that, she... she really doesn't want to live anymore.
And what pains her most is her son. After all, she was the woman he loved with all his heart and soul, the one who ultimately hurt him the most. The bitterness in her son's heart must be like a never-ending, raging river.
Pei's mother held back her tears, though her eyes were visibly red.
"Screw you, do you want everyone to know I've been cuckolded? I'm warning you, I'm going to use this to ruin Luo Anya's reputation and bankrupt the Luo family. I'm going to make them regret everything they've done to me every single moment."
Suppressing her grief, Luo's mother asked, "Alright, son, what do you need me to do? You can trust me to handle things."
"First of all, the child in Luo Anya's belly is definitely not mine. But words are not enough, so you secretly used the excuse of a medical check-up to do a prenatal paternity test."
Remember, you absolutely mustn't give anything away, and you can't arouse Luo Anya's suspicion. Come see me again after the paternity report comes out, and I'll tell you what to do next.
"Okay, I understand. Son, are you doing alright up there? Do you need me to get you anything?"
Having finished speaking, Pei Yun Shen didn't bother to look at his mother again and turned to leave.
If his mother hadn't been a fool, how could he have been so easily fooled by a woman?
If it weren't for the fact that he still needed Pei's mother's help, he would have loved to never see her again.
Pei's mother cried bitterly in a secluded place until her eyes were swollen like walnuts.
In the past, she would have gone to the most expensive beauty salon for a lavish treatment, but now, without a penny in her pocket, she could only pitifully buy two boiled eggs and sit under the overpass in a sheltered spot, slowly letting the swelling go down.
It looks so desolate.
Everyone who passes by can't help but think of the background music—"Holding a cornbread in his hands, no food, not a drop of oil... Snowflakes are falling, the north wind is howling, the world is a vast expanse of white..."
Pei's mother's gaze grew increasingly vicious. Luo Anya was no good, and Su Xi was a despicable woman.
These two women deserve much credit for causing her son such a terrible fate.
She will definitely not let them get away with this.
On the other side, Su Xi and Feng Jingnian were enjoying their meal when a small boat on the flowing water outside the window brought in more food.
Feng Jingnian reached out and scooped it up, opening it to reveal Su Xi's favorite caviar and sashimi.
After dinner, while waiting for the dessert boat to float over, Su Xi went to the restroom.
As soon as she came out of the restroom, she saw a woman with her arms crossed, glaring angrily at her.
"Su Xi, what are you doing here? Did you plant surveillance cameras on us?"
"The food here is famous far and wide. If you can come, why can't I?" Su Xi didn't want to waste any more words with Wu Yaoyao and walked straight out of the restroom.
Wu Yaoyao quickly caught up and blocked Su Xi's way, her eyes full of disdain. "Su Xi, you really are shameless. You still say you didn't do it on purpose? That private room up ahead belongs to Feng Jue. You're heavily pregnant and you still traveled all this way to deliver sex to his door. Don't you have any shame?"
Su Xi stopped abruptly.
She really didn't expect Feng Jue to be there; if she had known, she wouldn't have come today.
"Wu Yaoyao, stop spouting nonsense. If you don't speak, no one will think you're mute." Su Xi walked around her, not going any further, but instead went into the outdoor garden next door, intending to take a detour back from the outside.
Seeing that Su Xi dared not walk past Feng Jue's private room again, Wu Yaoyao spat out, "You're smart enough. You're a connoisseur."
Su Xi didn't turn her head, treating it as if a dog was barking.
Walking onto the transparent glass bridge, you can clearly see koi and dragonfish swimming below.
Banyan trees and crabapple blossoms line both sides of the glass bridge, and the water is clear and emerald green. In the distance, under the lotus trees with their falling petals and flowing water, a pair of mandarin ducks can even be seen swimming affectionately.
Su Xi watched the pair of mandarin ducks swim into the reeds and disappear from sight before she smiled and continued walking.
The moment I stepped off the glass bridge, a tall figure suddenly appeared on my right.
Before Su Xi could react, her wrist was grabbed by the person, and she was pinned against the crabapple tree.
The scent of sandalwood is cool and pleasant.
The moment Su Xi saw the man's cold and aloof handsome face, her pupils dilated, and then she frowned deeply.
The man held her, clearly taking advantage of her, yet he held her as if she were a piece of stinky wood that everyone would despise, looking completely unwilling.
"Feng Jue, you did it..."
Before she could finish speaking, the man leaned down and shielded her beneath him.
Where she had just stood, a wildly burning Kongming lantern fell straight to the ground with a dull thud.
Immediately afterwards, the surrounding vegetation was blackened and scorched by the smoke.
Staff members arrived quickly to put out the fire.
Su Xi then realized that the man was actually saving her.
Her lips trembled, wanting to say thank you, but the man didn't even bother to look at her or the sky, so she couldn't even find a chance to say thank you.
Seeing that the crisis was over, the man straightened up.
Thinking the man would simply walk away, Su Xi smiled sarcastically, figuring he wouldn't care if she said thank you. After he left, she would leave in another direction, no matter how far away she had to go.
But the man did not let go of her hand; instead, he pulled her deeper into the dense forest.
The ground was covered with fallen petals.
Su Xi couldn't help but speak up, "Feng Jue, what do you mean by this? Let go."
Feng Jue remained silent. After walking for a while, the view ahead suddenly opened up, but it was a quiet place where no one was around.
In such a secluded place, with only a man and a woman, it's one thing for Feng Jue to be single, but for her, a married woman, it's probably impossible to clear her name even if she jumps into the Yellow River.
Su Xi tried to shake him off, but the man's grip on her wrist tightened even more.
Then he pressed her against the wall, and without saying a word, his handsome face loomed over her.
Su Xi's entire body tensed instantly, and she closed her eyes and turned her head away.
A warm breath brushed against her ear, and the man's voice, tinged with a hint of mockery, rang out.
"how?
You don't think I'm going to do anything to you, do you?
You haven't changed; you're still the same... delusional person.
"You!" Su Xi glared at him fiercely. "Feng Jue, you intercepted me halfway just to spout this nonsense?"
"Heh, don't kick me while I'm down. I just saved you. If it weren't for me, you might be disfigured by now, and your hair and clothes might all be torn off."
The man did save her, but what he said was offensive.
"Thank you, is that alright now?" Su Xi tried to leave, but the man pressed her down even tighter.
The man's warm breath brushed against her ear. "I'm not here for nothing. I have something to tell you."
Su Xi felt an intense itch in her ears and couldn't help but shiver.
"You can just say what you want to say, is it really necessary to get so close?"
"Be careful, the walls may have ears."
"You!" Su Xi discovered that although this was a quiet place, there were also private rooms upstairs.
Moreover, the foliage here is so lush that even a person hiding there wouldn't be visible.
"Speak quickly if you have something to say, my husband is waiting for me."
Feng Jue sneered, seemingly unconcerned by her words, but tightened his grip on her waist.
Su Xi was about to push him away when the man spoke in a businesslike tone.
Su Xi felt a tickling sensation near her ear and wanted to turn her head away.
His long, slender, and gentle fingers held her head tightly.
