Chapter 76 Don't Give Me a Chance

Chapter 76 Don't Give Me a Chance

In the corner of the private room, an inconspicuous red light was faintly glowing.

*

As Su Xi left the banquet, her phone rang. The moment she stopped and looked at her phone, a woman rushed towards her from the side like a madwoman, holding a gleaming dagger in her hand.

Lai Mengqi had never suffered such humiliation in her life. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. As if possessed, she went to buy a knife and came back just in time to see Su Xi coming out.

In a moment of madness, she rushed over, her face contorted with rage and rage.

Upon recognizing Lai Mengqi, Su Xi realized it was too late to hide.

Just as the dagger was about to pierce his chest, a large, well-defined hand gripped the blade.

Blood gushed out instantly, splattering onto Su Xi's face and body.

Her back was almost pressed against the man's chest, the scorching heat penetrating through the two layers of clothing, and a familiar, crisp sandalwood scent entered her chest, causing Su Xi's pupils to contract sharply.

Turning around and seeing the man's resolute chin and cold expression, Su Xi subconsciously withdrew her hand that was about to support him.

The man's handsome face turned pale in an instant, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Su Xi's lips trembled, "President Feng..."

Upon seeing the blood, Lai Mengqi's rationality returned instantly. She screamed, released the dagger, and turned to run away. However, she was kicked in the chest by Feng Jinchen, who had caught up with her, after only a few steps.

The kick was so powerful that Lai Mengqi almost lost her life on the spot, falling to the ground and vomiting a mouthful of black blood.

"Send this woman to prison. I want her to die in there." After instructing his bodyguards, Feng Jinchen strode towards Su Xi.

Seeing that Su Xi was unharmed, and then noticing the deep wound on Feng Jue's hand that exposed bone, the man narrowed his eyes. "Uncle, thank you for saving my wife. I'll take you to the hospital."

Su Xi also went to the hospital.

Feng Jue's hand was stitched up; fortunately, the tendon was not severed.

"Uncle, thank you so much this time."

The man was always aloof and indifferent, like an iceberg that made people afraid to approach him. Even when their eyes occasionally met, it was as if he were looking at a stranger. But Su Xi still found an opportunity to thank him.

The man finally raised his eyelids, his peach blossom eyes landing lightly on Su Xi's face for the first time, before he expressionlessly looked away at Feng Jinchen, "Besides saying thank you, what else can your wife say?"

Su Xi's face turned pale. Feng Jinchen's handsome face also stiffened slightly, "Xi Xi is rather quiet and doesn't say anything high-sounding, please bear with her, Uncle."

Why should I take responsibility?

It seems Feng Jue truly despises her. Su Xi clenched her fingers, moved her lips, wanting to find an excuse to leave, when Feng Jinchen's phone rang.

After hearing something said on the other end of the phone, the man's expression changed drastically. "Su Xi, take a taxi home yourself. I'm going back to the company to handle some things."

Suddenly, only Su Xi and Feng Jue remained in the ward; the air was so still that you could hear the sound of falling petals.

Su Xi wanted to leave, but her gaze fell on the man's bandaged hand. The old wound on his forearm still had stitches, and the old wound plus the new one were all because of her. She couldn't leave.

Suddenly, Su Xi had a sudden realization. Restoring her previous acquaintance with Feng Jue was exactly what she wanted; she had no reason to be sad.

This man saved her life time and time again, and even when he gave her the cold shoulder, she could endure it.

"Mr. Feng, would you like some water?"

The man looked at Su Xi, while the woman, holding the kettle, smiled at him, polite yet distant, just as she had when she first met him.

Her beautiful peach blossom eyes flickered slightly. "Drink."

"Okay." Su Xi poured a glass of warm water and brought it to the bedside. The man took the glass, tilted his head back, and gulped it down without leaving a drop.

Su Xi's gaze unconsciously fell on the man's Adam's apple. A glistening drop of water rolled down her chin, slid past the Adam's apple, and disappeared into the man's collar.

Su Xi's eyes flickered slightly, and in the instant she looked away, she slipped a cool cup into her hand.

"Would you...want to drink some more?"

The man shook his head, his deep gaze sweeping over Su Xi and instantly capturing her eyes.

As if frozen in place by an invisible pressure, Su Xi was forced to meet the man's gaze.

A mocking smile played on the man's lips. "Why aren't you avoiding me anymore? Are you planning to treat me like an elder and be filial to me from the start?"

Su Xi smiled seemingly calmly, "My uncle is an elder who has saved me many times, so it is only right that he takes care of you. I'm just afraid that he will find it distasteful."

"Of course I'm disgusted. Wang Ma at home takes a thousand times better care of you than you do. Is this how you repay a life-saving debt?"

Su Xi looked into the man's eyes, "Mr. Feng, how do you want me to repay you?"

You know the answer in your heart.

The man's dark eyes churned, causing Su Xi's heart to skip a beat. Remembering their identities, her voice turned cold, "I don't know."

"Heh—" The man chuckled self-deprecatingly, got off the bed, walked to the window, reached out and pulled the curtains shut, covering the night outside.

He then headed towards the door, and the moment it locked from the inside, Su Xi quickly followed, asking, "What are you doing?"

The man glanced at the woman who only reached his collarbone, then turned off the light, plunging the room into darkness.

Before Su Xi could react, she was pinned against the door, the man's lips almost brushing against hers.

"If you don't like me, or even hate me, why do you still provoke me?"

"I don't."

"You have."

Su Xi's eyes had adjusted to the darkness. The man's eyes were bright, his expression serious, and his perfect features could make any woman fall for him.

"You've provoked me twice? How are you going to repay me?"

Su Xi lowered her eyes. "How do you plan to repay me?"

"So, how about this?" Feng Jue's voice was slightly hoarse as he abruptly lowered his head.

Su Xi dodged his steady pursuit.

The man leaned forward and pressed her against the door even harder, leaving almost no gap.

The man pinched her chin.

For a full ten minutes, the man's breathing became somewhat rapid, his forehead pressed against the woman's, and his deep, panting sounds reached Su Xi's ears.

Why didn't you push me away?

"To pay off the debt. That should be enough, right?"

The woman's icy voice pierced his heart like an ice pick, and the man's back straightened slightly as he said in a deep voice, "Not enough."

"Mr. Feng, don't push your luck. Next time you see me drunk, please just knock me out. Don't give me the chance."

"President Feng is an unattainable beauty, noble and unparalleled. He can have any woman he wants, so why bother toying with me?"

"Teasing?"

The man's fist, pressed against the door, tightened. "Did you ever like me?"

"No."

"Fine, very well. Su Xi, our relationship is now even, let's go our separate ways. Get out."

The moment the man finished speaking, the door opened and he shoved Su Xi out.

Before she could even stand up straight, the door slammed shut.

Standing outside the door, Su Xi took a long time to compose herself. This wasn't a novel, nor an idol drama. Even if that person wasn't Feng Jue, she had so much on her mind that she wasn't in the mood to start a relationship.

She didn't want to fall into another emotional vortex that was destined to break her heart.

Just as Su Xi was about to leave, the door to the ward opened again. Before she could even see the man's face clearly, her wrist tightened, and she was pulled back inside.
