Chapter 38 Is this your boyfriend?
Liu Cheng took a nap on the sofa outside. He woke up in a daze and wanted to go in to ask President Feng what his instructions were, but his eyes widened instantly after just one glance.
What did he see? His eyes must have been deaf, for he actually saw the famous, woman-averse CEO Feng with his coat off and tossed aside, his shirt half-off, revealing his chest and abdominal muscles brimming with sexual tension and hormones.
The man leaned forward, his eyes fixed on the defenseless woman on the bed...
OMG.
Liu Cheng's jaw dropped to the ground; the shock on his face was even greater than his surprise.
Hearing the noise, Feng Jue turned his head to look, and Liu Cheng was so frightened that he immediately raised his hands, "President Feng... I didn't see anything."
After saying that, he turned around and left, even kindly closing the bedroom door gently behind him.
Feng Jue, “…”
He just wanted to go to the restroom, did this kid misunderstand?
He took off his shirt and put on his suit jacket. Thinking about his earlier presumptuousness, the man's handsome face instantly darkened.
Seeing Feng Jue emerge with a grim expression, Liu Cheng trembled. He had ruined President Feng's good time; would he be exiled to Africa?
The man gave him a cold glance and headed straight for the restroom. The restroom! Now Liu Cheng should understand, right?
Looking at his boss's tall, imposing figure, Liu Cheng felt a surge of sympathy well up in his eyes, and he wanted to slap himself. Poor thing, he should have dealt with it himself. He shouldn't have been inside; he should have been downstairs.
The sky gradually brightened.
Su Xi opened her eyes, stretched halfway, and saw the man lying next to her bed, which made her shudder violently.
What's my uncle doing here?
Su Xi's eyes widened, and she vaguely remembered that she had a fever last night, and it seemed that her uncle was the one who took care of her.
With trembling hands, Su Xi opened her phone and, sure enough, saw a message from Ye Qingqian. Su Xi felt dizzy. She was out of town, so she sent her uncle instead? What kind of logic was that? Couldn't they have sent a woman instead? Ye Qingqian was ruining her life.
"woke up?"
The elegant sound of a cello drifted over, pleasant and refined, yet Su Xi shuddered violently once more.
"Uncle, thank you for last night." Su Xi forced a smile.
"Feng Jinchen is out of town, that's why I came. How are you feeling?"
"Very good, very good." Su Xi held the blanket, her back straight, looking just like a model student listening to her homeroom teacher's teachings.
Her gaze lightly fell on Su Xi's face, and the woman regained her usual awe and restraint.
The man's eyes flickered slightly, and he asked casually,
Do you remember what you called me last night?
Su Xi blinked her long eyelashes, thought about it seriously for a moment, and finally asked with a humble and uncertain look, "Call me Uncle?" What else could she call him?
Upon hearing this, the man stared intently into Su Xi's eyes, almost with a harsh scrutiny.
This was the first time her uncle had stared at her so intently. Su Xi looked innocent and frightened, her face contorted with anxiety, her fingers gripping the blanket tighter and tighter.
After a moment, the man's gaze suddenly turned cold, and he straightened up. His tall figure made the small bedroom seem cramped, and Su Xi could only crane her neck to look at him.
Seeing that her uncle seemed quite angry, Su Xi bit her lip and tentatively said, "Uncle, thank you for taking care of me last night. How about I treat you to breakfast?"
The man paused as he was leaving, seemingly hesitating for a moment, before finally nodding with a cool and aloof air.
At six o'clock in the morning, there were not many people at the breakfast stall. Simple tables and chairs were set up on the roadside, simple but clean.
The morning light shone on the man's stunning profile, even gilding his long, distinct eyelashes with a golden glow, adding a touch of romance and beauty to the already fresh and crisp air.
Su Xi couldn't help but glance at him a few more times, but when the man's captivating eyes swept over her, she quickly looked away. "Uncle, what would you like to eat?"
Feng Jue indicated that he didn't know what was in this place either, and asked casually, "What kind of things are there?"
Su Xi belatedly realized and hurriedly said, "Tofu pudding or soy milk? Tofu pudding comes in sweet and savory varieties. Soy milk also comes in sweet and unsweetened versions. There are also steamed buns, fried dough sticks, and tea eggs. The steamed buns come with vegetable filling, tofu filling, and meat filling. Oh, and all kinds of porridge..."
Feng Jue rubbed his temples. "Whatever you eat, I'll eat the same as you."
Su Xi was puzzled. How could a man's tastes be the same as hers? Their appetites alone were different, right?
Seeing the man's serious gaze, Su Xi quickly looked away and hurried into the store to order.
Soon, the proprietress cheerfully served breakfast: unsweetened soy milk, a vegetarian bun, a meat bun, and a tea egg.
Su Xi doesn't eat much; she usually only has one steamed bun. But today, since her uncle was here, she ordered an extra one.
The proprietress was in her fifties. Su Xi had eaten breakfast here a few times, and since she was pretty, the proprietress naturally recognized her.
Seeing that Su Xi had brought an incredibly handsome boy this time, her smile deepened. "Young lady, is this your boyfriend? In your young people's terms, you two are a perfect match."
Feng Jue paused, his hand holding the chopsticks stilled, and a barely perceptible smile appeared on his lips.
Su Xi was startled and waved her hands repeatedly, "No, no, he's my uncle."
"Ah, Uncle? Your uncle is so young." The proprietress chuckled, glancing at Feng Jue one last time before leaving.
Whether it was her imagination or not, the young man who had been smiling just moments before now had a sullen face and his lips were turned down, as if he was not happy.
Su Xi, however, didn't notice at all and even gave herself a thumbs up for her quick and clever rescue.
Feng Jue peeled both tea eggs through the plastic bag and handed one to Su Xi.
Su Xi looked surprised and was still somewhat dazed after eating a tea egg. After finishing two steamed buns, she couldn't drink any more soy milk, leaving half of it unfinished.
"Not drinking anymore?"
Su Xi patted her stomach, looking on with a helpless expression of craving and fullness, "I'm full."
The moment the words left her lips, Su Xi's clear eyes widened in shock as she watched her uncle pick up the leftover soy milk and drink it all down in an elegant and gentle manner.
The woman put down the bowl, her mouth still open.
Feng Jue couldn't help but chuckle softly, his face expressionless, and explained in a serious tone, "The soy milk here is very authentic."
Su Xi gently closed her chin. "Then...would you like another bowl?"
"No need." The man elegantly wiped his lips, and even the way he tossed the tissue into the trash can was pleasing to the eye.
Seeing that her uncle seemed to be in a good mood, Su Xi felt relieved.
For several days in a row, her work at the company went smoothly. Ji Feifei would avoid her whenever she saw her, and Wu Qingluan would at most roll her eyes at her, but wouldn't say much.
As soon as Su Xi arrived downstairs at the company, she saw a familiar luxury car and a person she both loved and hated.
When Feng Jinchen saw Su Xi, a doting smile spread across his face. He bent down and took out a large bouquet of fiery red roses and an exquisite and luxurious gift box from the car, and quickly went to greet Su Xi.
Su Xi tried to avoid him and leave, but the man grabbed her wrist.
Feng Jinchen looked much more haggard. Seeing Su Xi's icy demeanor and cold, emotionless eyes, his own eyes were filled with deep sorrow and regret.
She said almost in a humble voice, "Xixi, it's been so many days, haven't you forgiven me yet? I am your lover, not your enemy. I had my reasons for that matter."
