Chapter 166 Find a man who loves you
She helped him into the house, and warmth instantly enveloped them both.
She wrung out a hot towel and carefully wiped away the snow water from his face and hair, little by little.
The chill emanating from him finally dissipated somewhat.
She had barely taken a step when he gripped her wrist tightly. "Niannian, don't go."
“I’m not leaving. I’m just going to cook some noodles. You wait for me here,” she gently reassured him.
He nodded before letting go of her hand with relief.
She turned and went into the kitchen, and soon, Gu Xingnian brought out a steaming bowl of noodles.
"Here, have some noodles." She placed the bowl in front of him and then handed him the chopsticks.
"Be careful, it's hot."
He lowered his head, took a bite of noodles, and put it in his mouth, his movements still displaying an elegance ingrained in his very being.
Even though I couldn't taste anything in my mouth anymore.
He ate with great relish and seriousness.
He had only eaten half a bowl when he stopped and gently pushed the bowl toward her.
"Niannian, you eat too."
"Okay." She picked up his chopsticks and started eating from his bowl.
She deliberately slurped the noodles very loudly.
"Mmm, this is delicious! My cooking skills have improved again!"
This made him laugh.
Her eyes betrayed her, and tears streamed down her face, falling one by one into the noodle soup.
After they finished eating the noodles, she helped him upstairs.
In the bedroom, she brought a basin of water, poured in hot water, and wanted to help him wipe his body.
She reached out and unbuttoned the first button of his shirt, then the second...
When her shirt was opened, she froze.
On his chest, where his heartbeat is, are tattooed three words: Gu Xingnian.
Beside the writing, a blooming lily is entwined, and beneath its leaves hang two small red hearts.
The red and white contrast was striking against that fair skin.
Her fingertips trembled.
He suddenly reached out and pressed his hand down on the tattoo, covering it completely.
He looked at her, speaking each word with utmost seriousness.
"Niannian, I will never forget you in this lifetime."
"Absolutely not, and it's not allowed."
"Okay." Her voice was already choked with sobs.
She took a towel and slowly wiped his face, starting from his eyebrows, bridge of his nose, and lips...
She never imagined that the two of them would face such a day, when time had not yet aged them, yet they could only await death.
She forced back her tears, swallowing them back again and again.
After washing up, the two lay down on the bed.
He held her tightly in his arms, just like before, his chin resting on her forehead.
"Niannian, I'm leaving the Fu family business to you."
"I'll have to work hard for you from now on."
Her nose stung with tears, and she buried her face in his chest, gently replying.
"good."
He paused, then continued.
"Just tell Grandpa that I'm on a business trip abroad, and don't let him know."
"Okay." Her heart was trembling, but she pretended to be calm.
He sighed and gently stroked her hair with his hand.
"Niannian, in the future, you must find a man who loves you and knows that he truly cherishes you before you marry him."
Even at this moment, he was still worried about her.
He was no longer the obsessive and crazy Fu Beichen; he only hoped that she would have a peaceful and smooth life from now on.
"Okay." She replied with only one word, biting her lip until it turned white.
She reached out and intertwined her fingers with his, holding them tightly.
He tightened his arms around her shoulders, drawing her closer to his chest.
She listened intently to his heartbeat.
thump.
thump.
One, two...
No one dared to sleep, afraid that if they closed their eyes and opened them again, time would slip away completely.
The two of them dared not even breathe too loudly, for fear that they might accidentally shatter this last moment.
The next day.
When Fu Beichen woke up, his mind was completely blank.
He shifted and touched a soft, warm body in his arms, which also carried a faint fragrance.
Alarm bells rang in his mind.
He abruptly threw off the covers and flung the figure beside him off.
"Smack!"
The heavy object struck the wooden floor with a dull thud.
Gu Xingnian was jolted awake by the brute force. The right side of her body slammed hard against the floor, and her bones felt like they were about to break, causing her excruciating pain.
Before she could react, the man on the bed sat up, his impeccably handsome face filled with disgust and rage.
"Guards!" Fu Beichen roared, "Throw this woman who climbed into my bed out!"
The door was suddenly pushed open, and Lin Qi rushed in with two bodyguards in black.
"President Fu!"
When Lin Qi saw Gu Xingnian on the ground, his expression changed drastically, and he quickly went forward to help her up.
"Madam, are you alright?"
Gu Xingnian was in so much pain that tears welled up in her eyes. She was wearing Fu Beichen's oversized shirt, and her legs were thin and straight. At this moment, she looked both disheveled and innocent.
She shook her head.
Fu Beichen's anger burned even brighter, his eyes were empty, yet as cold as ice.
"Who let her in?"
"I don't care who she is, I want her to disappear from Haicheng forever."
Lin Qi felt a chill run down his spine and quickly tried to explain.
"Mr. Fu, please calm down. This is your wife, your wife."
Upon hearing this, Fu Beichen's lips curled into a cold, mocking smile.
"My wife?"
"I'm not married yet, so where would a wife come from?"
Lin Qi cursed inwardly: This lunatic.
Gu Xingnian's face turned pale instantly. Oh no, her mind was going haywire again.
She pulled away from Lin Qi's hand, her voice trembling slightly, but she tried her best to remain calm.
"President Fu, I was wrong."
"No need for you to do it, I can walk by myself."
After saying that, she turned and ran, not even bothering to put on her slippers, and rushed out barefoot.
"Bang!"
The door was slammed shut, the loud slam startling Fu Beichen into pause.
He sat on the bed, his brow furrowed, lost in thought for a moment.
The furious face suddenly turned bewildered.
"Nian Nian..."
Where is my Niannian?
He looked like a child who had lost his favorite toy, his face filled with panic, and rushed outside.
"Niannian! Where are you?"
With a "bang," he slammed straight into the door.
Lin Qi was startled and quickly stepped forward to support him.
"President Fu!"
Fu Beichen seemed not to hear him. He suddenly stretched out his slender hand and tightly covered his heart.
His handsome face was contorted in agony, veins bulging on his forehead, and cold sweat pouring down his face.
His body went limp, and he fainted.
Lin Qi was terrified. Holding the fallen Fu Beichen, he shouted hoarsely towards the door.
"Mrs!"
Gu Xingnian ran in upon hearing the noise.
"Fu Beichen, Fu Beichen." She rushed to the bedside and called his name.
The person on the bed had his eyes closed, his handsome face was completely bloodless, and he did not respond to her calls.
He lost consciousness.
A tremendous panic gripped her heart.
Her trembling little hand, shaking slightly, gently touched the spot on his heart.
Beneath the shirt fabric was a warm chest, but the familiar and powerful beating had disappeared.
A deathly silence.
"His heart stopped beating."
She blurted it out, her voice trembling, as if all the strength had been drained from her body.
She was so shocked that she trembled all over, and her mind went blank.
"Quick, call a doctor!" She turned her head and roared at Lin Qi, who was already terrified at the door.
Lin Qi seemed to have been put on a start button, and he rushed out, tumbling and crawling.
soon.
Three doctors, accompanied by nurses, rushed in with emergency equipment.
"Heart arrest!"
"Prepare for defibrillation!"
"Adrenaline!"
The doctors spoke very quickly and moved swiftly, instantly filling the room with a tense and suffocating atmosphere.
She paced back and forth outside the door, each step seemingly treading on a knife's edge.
Even breathing was excruciatingly painful, and she prayed incessantly in her heart.
About half an hour later.
The door that separated life and death suddenly opened...
