Chapter 255 Mother and Daughter Officially Meet
Madam Shen looked surprised, clearly not expecting this woman to have such courage.
Was she so foolish as to not realize that Liang Yizhi's marriage to her had openly crossed the Shen family's bottom line?
Old Master Shen snorted and was about to speak when Liang Yizhi spoke first, his tone calm but unquestionable: "I have come here in person today to give a solemn explanation regarding my marriage. This matter has nothing to do with my wife, and there is no need to involve her."
Old Master Shen scrutinized him for a moment, then instructed the servant: "Go tell her that the Shen residence is not receiving guests today."
Liang Yizhi picked up his phone and sent a message.
After the servants left, the old man looked at Liang Yizhi again, his gaze sharper.
"No one but Ruoheng deserves to be called your wife."
"Whether I am worthy or not is up to me to decide."
Liang Yizhi showed no remorse whatsoever.
Old Master Shen slammed his teacup down heavily.
“Yizhi, you grew up in the Shen family. My son and daughter-in-law have been incredibly kind to you! Moreover, you are my granddaughter's husband. Both morally and logically, I have the right to demand that you immediately divorce that woman and marry Aizhu!”
Liang Yizhi was neither humble nor arrogant; his tone was calm yet left no room for argument.
“You’re right. I will remember the kindness of Teacher Shen and his wife for the rest of my life and never forget it. But marriage is a matter of personal freedom, and no one can dictate my decision.”
Old Master Shen understood his temperament.
Liang Yizhi was unyielding to both soft and hard tactics, so coercion was the only option.
"If you're talking about freedom, then the Liang family line will end. Your eldest brother called the other day, and it seems he's also planning to bring up your marriage with Aizhu. Wouldn't it be better for the Shen and Liang families to become even closer through marriage?"
“My older brother is going through divorce proceedings. If you want to marry into the Liang family, you can let him marry you.”
“Yizhi,” Madam Shen interrupted, displeased, “even if you don’t like it, you can’t betray Aizhu’s sincerity towards you.”
Liang Yizhi pursed his lips and remained silent.
Old Master Shen lost all patience, slammed his fist on the table, and stood up.
"Since you want the Liang family line to end, then I have nothing more to say. But I will never let bygones be bygones regarding that woman's harm to Aizhu. You married behind our backs, which is unfilial. Take the discipline whip and make her serve in the courtyard!"
Liang Yizhi handed his coat to the maid, his back ramrod straight.
"I acknowledge the fault for not informing her beforehand in today's legal proceedings. But I will not back down on protecting her."
Liang Yizhi's words greatly shocked Madam Shen.
She suddenly became curious about that woman.
What kind of woman could make this man, who had been closely connected with the Shen family for over thirty years and was practically regarded as half a son, so for the first time so clearly and resolutely stand against them to protect her?
Meanwhile, outside the gate, Ji Ying, after hearing the servant's refusal to see guests, raised an eyebrow and asked, "The more polite you are, the less likely you are to let us in?"
The maid understood the deeper meaning in her words and smiled contemptuously.
"The Shen family's security system was designed by the son-in-law himself, and no one has ever managed to break in."
Ji Ying knew that this son-in-law referred to Liang Yizhi.
Just as she was about to speak, Yue Zheng rushed over.
"Madam, Mr. Liang requests that you return home and wait for him?"
Ji Ying narrowed her beautiful eyes slightly. "Did he send you?"
Yue Zheng nodded.
"Then why didn't he just tell me?"
Yue Zheng answered truthfully, "Perhaps he was afraid you would refuse."
“Then,” Ji Ying changed the subject, “if you try to stop me, will I not refuse?”
Her words left Yue Zheng speechless.
Seeing that she was speechless, Ji Ying continued, "Think about it, did he really want you to protect me?"
Yue Zheng paused for a moment, vaguely sensing that something was wrong, but logically it seemed to make sense.
“After all, he knows everything I’m capable of,” Ji Ying added.
Yue Zheng suddenly realized.
Liang Yizhi, the newly appointed second secretary, hadn't even fully familiarized himself with the work process before being completely misled by his own wife.
"Alright, how do you want the smaller one made?"
Ji Ying was about to make a phone call herself, but she put down her phone and took out a marriage certificate from her bag.
"Go and invite all the most famous media outlets and bloggers with the most followers here. The Shen family is holding my husband hostage, and I want an explanation right now."
After giving her instructions, she turned her gaze to the maid who had been looking at her with disdain, and her eyes suddenly turned cold.
“Go and tell them that if my husband loses even a single hair in the Shen family, today’s ‘family affair’ will become the national headline news tomorrow.”
The maid's face turned pale instantly. No longer caring about anything else, she turned and rushed into the room to deliver the message as if fleeing.
Yue Zheng held his phone to his chest and immediately felt a sense of admiration for Ji Ying.
Just two minutes later, the Shen family's gate opened.
The butler rushed out from inside, and upon seeing Ji Ying, he was caught off guard and nearly tripped on the spot.
He had worked for the Shen family for twenty years, and any member of the Shen family would react the same way if they saw Ji Ying's face.
"Miss..." he steadied himself, "May I ask how I should address you, ma'am?"
Ji Ying raised her chin. "Liang Yizhi's wife, Ji Ying."
"Miss Ji, please."
Led by the housekeeper, she stepped across the familiar yet unfamiliar threshold.
Beneath my feet are the bluestone slabs I've walked on countless times.
Back then, she skipped and hopped along this road, holding her father's hand, thinking it was just an ordinary trip. Little did she know that 14 years would pass before she returned.
At that time, her mother promised that as long as she behaved well on the way, she would cook a whole table of dishes for her when she came back.
Unfortunately, in order to protect her father and not disappoint her mother, she almost drowned in the icy river.
Now she just wants to ask Madam Shen: Did she cook that table of dishes that she risked her life for?
The layout of the courtyard hasn't changed much.
When Ji Ying walked to the front yard, she saw Liang Yizhi standing in the center of the yard from afar.
In the cold night wind, he wore only a white shirt, his figure as upright as a pine tree.
Beside him was a slightly overweight man holding a piercing whip.
Meanwhile, Old Master Shen stood on the steps, his shrewd eyes gleaming with a sharp light.
Ji Ying composed herself and stepped forward.
"Who dares to touch my husband?"
Madam Shen turned around upon hearing the sound.
The moment their eyes met, she was clearly stunned.
This face, especially those eyes, is a perfect replica of her daughter who has been missing for 14 years.
However, upon closer inspection, the expression between their brows reveals a completely different look.
"You are Yizhi's wife... Who are you?"
Madam Shen forced herself to calm down, her tone carrying a hint of interrogation.
