Chapter 36 Four Years of Friendship, Worthless
In the end, it was Aunt Yang who woke Gu Lingxue up.
Having experienced so much tonight, Gu Lingxue was still not in good condition after waking up, and kept clinging to Gu Yanchen's arm.
"Brother, will my mother be alright?"
"Don't worry, the doctor will handle it."
Gu Yanchen's voice was noticeably colder. He opened the back door and pushed her inside.
Ji Ying was wondering why Gu Lingxue wasn't interested in Gu Yanchen's passenger seat when she saw her tightly gripping Gu Yanchen's hand, trembling all over, saying, "Brother, give me the medicine, I can't control myself anymore."
Gu Yanchen's expression changed drastically. He gestured to Yang Sao to bring the pills and fed them to her by hand.
Gu Lingxue didn't feel better immediately after taking the medicine. He glanced at the time and said to Ji Ying, "You drive."
He then sat in the back seat.
Ji Ying was so angry she laughed.
Gu Lingxue is intelligent, but her biggest mistake was competing with her for a man she no longer wanted.
When they arrived at the hospital, Wen Li was still unconscious.
Dr. Gu Gonghe stood at the door of the ward.
Upon seeing Ji Ying, Gu Gong's eyes lit up instantly, and he took a few steps forward to grab her.
“Yingying, it’s good that you’re here. Your mother-in-law needs you.”
Realizing that there were things he couldn't say, he turned his attention to the doctor.
The doctor was a man who looked to be in his thirties.
He picked up where Gu Gong left off, "The patient's platelet count has plummeted, and he must be immediately transfused with type O platelets, otherwise his life will be in danger."
Gu Lingxue felt as if she had heard devastating news: "My mother only has ovarian cancer, how could her platelet count be abnormal?"
Doctor: "It's hard to say what the cause is, but tomorrow's surgery has to be rescheduled. The patient is at risk of massive bleeding at any time, and our hospital doesn't have type O platelets. You must find someone to donate immediately."
Ji Ying had been listening attentively to the doctor's instructions, but when she heard this part, her gaze suddenly sharpened, and her eyes turned meaningful as she looked at the doctor.
Gu Gong: "Yingying, your mother-in-law has type O blood, and so do you. Do you think you could..."
"cannot."
Ji Ying decisively rejected him, then turned to look at Gu Yanchen with a cold gaze.
Is this why you asked me to come here?
Gu Yanchen understood her gaze, frowned and looked at Gu Gong, "Dad, there's no room for discussion on this matter."
Ji Ying thought of the child who had recently left her, and was not moved by Gu Yanchen's rejection.
“Yan Chen, although Li Li is your stepmother, she has treated you like her own daughter all these years. Ying Ying is very healthy, a little blood transfusion won’t hurt her.”
After he finished speaking, he glanced at the doctor.
The doctor nodded, "Drawing 400 milliliters of blood will not harm your body."
Ji Ying glanced at his name tag, a smile playing on her lips, and said, "Dr. Zhang, you're a professional; you need to be responsible for your words."
Zhang Cheng couldn't hold on any longer. "That's the patient's condition. I still need to make rounds. As for the platelet transfusion, you can come back to me after you've made your decision, but it has to be as soon as possible."
Seeing him evade the situation, Ji Ying became even more convinced that this was a setup.
Whether Wen Li is ill or not is another matter.
No sooner had he left than Wen Li woke up in the hospital room.
Gu Lingxue was the first to rush in, kneeling beside the hospital bed and holding her hand.
"Mom, where do you feel unwell?"
Wen Li's face was very pale, as if it had been soaked in bleach.
“Lingxue, Mom might not be able to hold on much longer. Ji Ying doesn’t like me, and she doesn’t respect me in the Gu family. She won’t help me, so don’t beg her. Mom is most worried about you right now; you don’t have a home yet…”
As she spoke, she looked at Gu Yanchen.
"You promised to take care of my daughter, you can't go back on your word! Lingxue isn't married yet, she doesn't even have a boyfriend, she's clean and innocent, you..."
Even though Wen Li's words sounded like her dying words, Ji Ying couldn't help but laugh.
"I've seen people threaten to kill themselves to force marriage, but I've never seen someone threaten to kill themselves to force someone to take their daughter as a mistress. You live such a despicable life, you might as well just die sooner."
As soon as she finished speaking, Gu Gong flew into a rage.
"Ji Ying, are you even speaking human language? Do you even respect me as your elder?"
Gu Yanchen closed his eyes and pulled Ji Ying behind him.
Seeing this, Gu Lingxue knelt down at Ji Ying's feet with a thud.
“Sister-in-law, if I weren’t taking antidepressants, I could also donate blood to Mom, but now… we really have no other choice.”
She cried, tears streaming down her face, her voice choked with sobs.
"Please, please save my mother..."
"impossible."
Ji Ying uttered those three words crisply and decisively, then turned to leave the ward.
"Stop her!"
At Gu Gong's command, two bodyguards immediately blocked the doorway.
Ji Ying slowly turned around, her gaze as sharp as an ice blade as she shot at Gu Gong: "What, does Father-in-law intend to tie me up and draw my blood?"
Gu Gong's face was grim. "You forced me to do this. Take her phone away, don't let her disturb the old lady."
"Try touching her."
Gu Yanchen's voice was as cold as ice.
The two bodyguards froze on the spot, not daring to make a move.
Gu Gong pulled his son to a corner, his voice extremely low.
"Drawing a little blood won't affect your wife's health, so what are you worried about?"
Gu Yanchen pursed his lips and did not answer.
Gu Gong narrowed his eyes, his tone growing colder, "Going to find someone else to donate blood now would take at least five or six hours, and your aunt can't wait that long. If anything happens to her, how can I possibly be in the mood to help you and Gu Yi?"
Gu Yanchen frowned and looked at him, "You've been in contact with him for a while now, but you wouldn't admit it when I asked you last time."
Gu Gong forced a smile and said, "It wasn't very early. It was after you contradicted me for the first time because of Ji Ying that I met with him. So... are you still planning to go against me?"
Seeing that his son remained silent for a long time, Gu Gong knew that, out of consideration for their marital relationship, Gu Yanchen could not directly force Ji Ying, so he had to play the villain.
He turned to Ji Ying, his tone firm: "You saved your mother-in-law this time; all past grievances are wiped clean."
Ji Ying looked at Gu Yanchen, who remained silent, as if weighing his options.
Four years of friendship, truly worthless.
Gu Gong instructed the bodyguard, "Take her to the blood-drawing room."
Ji Ying let out a breath, her expression one of resignation and giving up resistance, and turned to look at Wen Li on the hospital bed.
He even went over and lifted her blanket.
"With such a loving husband, Mother-in-law, you can rest assured and focus on getting better."
Seeing her subservient demeanor, Wen Li closed her eyes, feeling a surge of smug satisfaction.
But then, Ji Ying bent down and whispered in her ear in a voice only the two of them could hear, "You want my blood, and I want all the riches and glory you'll ever have in this life."
Wen Li suddenly opened her eyes, looked at her in horror, and trembled uncontrollably.
"You wicked woman! What did you say to my mother?"
Gu Lingxue screamed and rushed forward, losing her temper, and shoved her hard.
