Chapter 14 Breakup

Chapter 14 Breakup

Gu Yanchen's handsome face was clouded with gloom.

Ji Ying wanted to explain what had happened on the phone, but seeing how certain he was of what she had done to Gu Lingxue, any further explanation would be futile.

So the words that were about to come out turned into a snort of laughter.

"So what? She almost died, and you were so worried the sky was falling, but my critical condition notice didn't bother you at all, because I was supposed to sacrifice myself for her anyway?"

"You're perfectly fine now, don't try to argue! She has depression, and she disappeared after being kicked out of the hospital. If something really happened to her, how could you live with yourself?"

Ji Ying's tone was cold, "Your sister's life or death has nothing to do with me, of course I'll be fine with it."

Gu Yanchen's face was extremely gloomy.

"No matter what you do, I will not get a divorce. You better remember that your grandfather's imported medication cannot be stopped for even a day."

Her maternal grandfather is her bottom line.

Ji Ying raised her hand and brushed the items off the dressing table.

"If you can do the first day of the month, I'll do the fifteenth. Tomorrow's headlines will be about the scandal of the Gu Group president's stepsister having an abortion abroad, and as for the child's father..."

She sneered.

"...Let's see if my grandfather's medicine runs out first, or if you and your sister are ruined first!"

Gu Yanchen had not been threatened by anyone for a long time.

After a few seconds of deathly silence, the anger in his eyes strangely died down.

"It's because I spoiled you too much that you forgot your limits."

He slowly tightened his bathrobe again, walked to the bedroom door, opened it, and gestured with his chin towards the outside.

Two bodyguards stepped forward.

“The wife needs to reflect on her actions behind closed doors. Take her to the basement to repent until we find the person there.”

Ji Ying's pupils suddenly contracted, and she pressed her fingertips hard against the edge of the table.

She had witnessed Gu Yanchen's ruthlessness towards others, and today he finally used those same methods on her for that woman's sake.

The tenderness that had once captivated her over the past four years has now turned into sharp blades, carving away at her heart, making her laugh through the pain.

After giving his instructions, Gu Yanchen turned away from her.

...

Ji Ying lived in Platinum Bay for four years without knowing there was a basement.

Upon entering, we found a small, dark room inside.

The walls are made of steel plates, and the ventilation holes are very small. People inside not only have to endure the stale air, but also the mental depression and cold caused by the environment.

Before long, Ji Ying shivered from the cold.

Since being discharged from the hospital, winds of the same temperature that feel cool to others feel cold to her.

She had planned to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, but before she could, she was locked up here.

A chill crept into my body, and my lower abdomen began to ache slightly.

Not knowing how long she would be locked up, she hugged herself tightly, not daring to lean against the wall, and could only curl up in the center of the small dark room, counting her heartbeats and urging herself to persevere.

No one slept that night.

As dawn broke, Gu Yanchen stood by the study window, his fingers unconsciously stroking the handle of his coffee cup.

Chen Yuan pushed the door open and came in.

"We still haven't heard from Miss Gu in Aalborg. Although she was kicked out of the hospital a few minutes after she called you, there are few surveillance cameras near the hospital, so they didn't capture her whereabouts. Customs also has no record of her leaving the country."

As he spoke, a look of worry appeared on Chen Yuan's face.

"Did the people Madam sent harm Miss Gu?"

Gu Yanchen put down his coffee cup.

"She wouldn't do such a thing."

Chen Yuan quickly corrected himself, "That's right, after all, those people haven't been caught yet."

Gu Yanchen glanced at him and reminded him, "Your task is to urge them to find the missing people."

"Yes, yes."

Actually, finding out the identities of those people is very simple; just interrogate the wife.

But President Gu didn't even consider doing that.

Chen Yuan could tell that even if his wife caused a major disaster, at most she would be locked in a dark room, and President Gu was unwilling to use harsher methods to deal with her.

Gu Yanchen went downstairs to eat breakfast. Aunt Yang glanced at him cautiously several times before mustering her courage to ask, "Are you going to take something to Madam for breakfast?"

“My wife didn’t eat dinner yesterday,” she added.

Gu Yanchen felt a moment of remorse, but then he thought about how much she had been causing trouble these past few days.

So he made up his mind, "There's drinking water in the basement, she won't go hungry if she skips two meals."

Mrs. Yang looked worried. "Perhaps Madam realizes she was wrong."

Gu Yanchen chuckled, "No need to wait for her to admit her mistake. Go to the old house and find my grandmother, and someone will release her."

After being warned, Mrs. Yang paused for a moment, her breathing faltering.

But if his wife is released through someone else, then their relationship can never be repaired.

"I won't tell the old lady."

Gu Yanchen could tell that she was genuinely worried about Ji Ying.

“It’s dangerous for her to be so reckless in the Gu family. If she doesn’t learn her lesson this time, she might lose her life if she falls into someone else’s hands next time. It doesn’t matter if she hates me. Every lesson I teach her is to help her live longer.”

"But my wife was only discharged from the hospital a few days ago, and the basement is cold and damp..."

Gu Yanchen's eyes flickered, and he felt a pang of pity.

At that moment, Chen Yuan received a phone call and rushed to the restaurant.

"Mr. Gu, a female corpse has been pulled from the river near Aalborg Hospital. She was disfigured, but her body shape is similar to Miss Gu's. They are currently conducting DNA comparisons."

Aunt Yang's hands gripped the corner of her apron tightly.

Gu Yanchen's thin lips pressed into a sharp line, but relaxed again after a few seconds.

"Keep searching until it's confirmed."

Chen Yuan paused for a moment, then nodded.

Mrs. Yang breathed a sigh of relief, "Then Madam..."

"Sister Yang, the Nine Boiling Soup in Liuxi Town is very famous. I'll give you the address, go and buy some."

"Nine...nine boiling water?"

Mrs. Yang was dumbfounded. Her wife was still locked up, so why was she asked to buy soup?

Unable to fathom Gu Yanchen's thoughts, she felt deflated.

"Okay, I'll take a ride now."

"Didn't we give you a car? Why do you need to hitch a ride?" Gu Yanchen asked.

Mrs. Yang was taken aback. "When did you give it to me?"

Gu Yanshen clearly remembered that when he left the ward that day, he gave the GL8 car keys to Ji Ying and asked her to give them to Aunt Yang, and to let Aunt Yang buy whatever she wanted to eat.

After returning from Aalborg, he did not inquire about the matter.

He hurried to the garage, only to find that the GL8 was not there.

Thinking back to how Ji Ying had strongly resisted his touch these past few days...

Gu Yanchen stood under the shade of a tree, his hair falling down to cover his dark and unfathomable eyes, a hint of melancholy on his lips.

"Did your wife show any unusual behavior the day I went to Aalborg?"

Mrs. Yang thought about it carefully.

"Not long after you left the ward, your wife went out."

Chen Yuan's eyes widened. "That day she hung up on me before I finished my call. I came to see her, wasn't she sleeping?"

"Madam returned before you came to see her, and she was completely soaked. When asked, she wouldn't say anything. That night, Ms. Wen used a composite wedding photo of Mr. Gu and Miss Gu to provoke her..."

At this point, Aunt Yang secretly glanced at Gu Yanchen.

Gu Yanshen's jawline had already formed a sharp curve.

"...The lady vomited blood, but she didn't ask us to call a doctor. She said she accidentally swallowed some seawater."
