Chapter 253 The Only Mistress

Chapter 253 The Only Mistress

"Welcome Mrs. Liang to the Liang residence."

His deep voice carried a barely perceptible sigh.

Ji Ying was ticklish, so she shrank her neck and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Sneaking around in the dead of night, is this what you call a formal check-in?"

Liang Yizhi chuckled softly, his lips almost brushing against her earlobe.

"It's too late tonight, everyone's asleep. Tomorrow we'll give you a grand welcome ceremony and a celebration for three days and three nights."

Ji Ying was amused by his words that were meant to coax a child, and her feigned toughness instantly crumbled.

"Forget the welcome ceremony, let's have a farewell ceremony instead. I think it's very quiet here, so I might as well take over and kick you out."

"That won't do."

Liang Yizhi's arms gradually tightened, making her feel his change even more clearly.

"The nest can be handed over, but how can Your Majesty not have a personal male servant to attend to you?"

Ji Ying blushed furiously at his teasing, and said in a trembling voice, "Let me go, I don't want to."

Liang Yizhi is not going to let go.

"Little fox, you deliberately ignored my calls, making me want to fly to you right now, and now you're saying you don't want to. I'll say it again, do you want to or not?"

Before Ji Ying could respond, he lowered his head and captured her lips.

Just as Ji Ying's consciousness was gradually fading and she was about to be dragged into the abyss by him, Liang Yizhi's phone rang, instantly shattering the romantic atmosphere in the room.

The call was from Mrs. Shen.

Liang Yizhi quickly calmed his breathing, but still kept Ji Ying firmly in his arms as he answered the phone.

"Yizhi, have you returned to the capital?" Madam Shen's voice carried a hint of weariness. "I'd like to talk to you about Aizhu's matter."

"Madam, not today."

"But Aizhu is still in the hospital, she's in a lot of pain..."

Madam Shen's tone carried a mother's anxiety.

Ji Ying pursed her lips and looked away.

Liang Yizhi looked at the woman in his arms, whose face was still flushed, and said even more firmly, "Today is my wife's first time home. I'm sorry."

A long silence fell on the other end of the phone.

After a moment, Madam Shen said softly, "Has she seen Ruoheng's memorial tablet?"

Ji Ying's eyes flickered slightly.

Liang Yizhi did not answer the question.

Madam Shen seemed to have received some kind of tacit approval, and her tone became somber.

"You need to give the Shen family a proper explanation for this matter."

After saying that, she hung up the phone.

Liang Yizhi put the phone back in its place, sighed almost inaudibly, and lowered his head, wanting to continue the kiss that had been interrupted.

Ji Ying turned her head away, pressing her hand against his chest, the intoxication in her eyes replaced by a hint of clarity and jealousy.

"You didn't come back for me at all. You rushed back because Shen Aizhu was injured, didn't you?"

"No, it's because of you." Liang Yizhi's gaze calmly locked onto her.

I don't believe it.

Ji Ying tried to get out of his arms, her expression a mix of coquettishness and reluctance typical of women.

Seeing her like this, Liang Yizhi chuckled softly, offered no further explanation, and simply picked her up and carried her towards the bathroom.

He whispered in her ear as he walked, his warm breath continuing to tease her senses.

"Nothing is more important than helping you bathe right now... In a little while, Mrs. Liang will know how sincere my heart is."

Ji Ying's cheeks flushed as he suddenly acted and spoke bluntly.

Her initial minor emotional outburst crumbled completely under his forceful yet gentle advances.

She could only bury her face in his neck, letting him hold her as they entered the bathroom, which was filled with a warm, ambiguous steam.

Ji Ying didn't know how she got through the night. She was very tired, but she slept soundly.

Waking up in Liang Yizhi's arms the next day, I felt that peaceful and serene feeling again.

She wanted to trace the man's eyebrows, but Liang Yizhi closed his eyes and held her hand.

"What more could a husband ask for than to wake up with his wife every morning?"

Ji Ying tried to pull her hand back, but the man opened his eyes, put her hand to his lips, and kissed it.

Good morning, madam.

Ji Ying felt as if a feather had gently brushed against her heart, sending a tingling sensation through her.

Her ears felt slightly warm, but she didn't pull her hand away. She simply replied softly, "...Good morning."

After washing up, the two went to the dining hall located in the east wing of the courtyard.

As soon as the dishes were laid out, a composed middle-aged man walked forward with a smile and bowed slightly to Ji Ying.

"Good morning, madam. I'm the housekeeper here; you can call me Old Fei. If you need anything from now on, just let me know."

Ji Ying nodded with a smile.

Butler Fei then gestured to a simply dressed middle-aged couple standing nearby.

"These are Old Ding and his wife, Ding Sao, who are in charge of taking care of the garden. They are responsible for the flowers, trees, and daily cleaning in the yard."

Aunt Ding smiled simply and added, following Lao Fei's lead, "Yes, if the master doesn't come back for meals, we just eat whatever we can find. But as long as the master gives us his permission in advance, or... if you, Second Madam, have any particular cravings, just give the order and the chef will come right away."

As soon as she finished speaking, Ji Ying paused slightly in the hand holding the spoon, her polite smile faded, and she didn't say anything, but just looked down at the porridge in the bowl.

Butler Fei's expression changed, and he immediately corrected her sternly, "Sister Ding! What nonsense are you talking about! This is Madam, the only mistress of the Liang family!"

“Yes, yes,” Old Ding quickly chimed in, seeing the awkward atmosphere. “This is Madam, we should call her Madam.”

Aunt Ding trembled from the scolding, and felt somewhat aggrieved.

"But...but half a year ago, when Miss Shen's memorial tablet was brought into the house, the butler also instructed us to address her as 'Madam'...Now there are two 'Madams' at once, how are we supposed to tell them apart?"

Liang Yizhi put down his chopsticks, placed his hand on Ji Ying's shoulder, and spoke softly, yet everyone held their breath.

“My wife is the only lady of the house. There is no male chauvinism here. My wife and I are equals. Do you understand what I mean?”

Butler Fei quickly replied, "Understood, understood. Whether it's you or Madam who wants to eat at home, the chef will definitely come on time."

At that moment, a woman in a white suit walked in.

"Sir, your strategic cooperation meeting with leading energy storage entrepreneurs will be held in one hour."

Liang Yizhi looked at her and said, "Last night you handed over your work to Xue Qin, and I forgot to tell you that you canceled all my work this morning."

The woman nodded and went to the yard to make a phone call.

Seeing Ji Ying's confusion, Liang Yizhi introduced her, "Her name is Yue Zheng. From now on, she will replace Xue Qin in her work."

Ji Ying initially wanted to ask Xue Qin what was wrong, but then she thought that being transferred meant he must have done something unforgivable, so she asked, "Why did you cancel the meeting?"

Liang Yizhi asked with a smile, "Have you finished eating?"

Ji Ying nodded.

Liang Yizhi stood up. "The morning is for your wife. Let's go."

When they arrived at the traditional Chinese medicine clinic, Ji Ying learned that she had finished the last pill last night, and he had brought her here today to adjust the prescription.

They went straight into the consultation room without having to queue.

The doctor who was seeing her looked exactly like the old man in Kunshi who had predicted she wouldn't live past thirty.

Liang Yizhi told her that this person was that person's twin brother.

Looking at the room full of brocade banners, perhaps this person's medical skills are better than that person's.

During the consultation, aside from the questioning, the younger brother spent most of his time criticizing his older brother: rigid and inflexible since childhood, with the same dishes for every meal, practically a case of severe obsessive-compulsive disorder...

After he finished rambling on, the new prescription was also ready.

As they were about to leave the consultation room, Ji Ying couldn't help but look at Liang Yizhi and ask in a low voice, "Will this medicine... work?"

Before Liang Yizhi could speak, the gossipy doctor pricked up his ears and shouted, "Girl, my brother is invincible, but the only one who can defeat him is me. Don't worry about taking this medicine, I guarantee you'll outlive him!"

He pointed at Liang Yizhi.

"Say what you mean and do what you say."

After saying this, Liang Yizhi led Ji Ying out of the room.

Afterwards, he went to the pharmacy to get the medicine and asked Ji Ying to sit behind the screen in the lobby to wait.

Ji Ying had just taken out her phone to handle some official business when she heard a nurse call out, "Madam Shen, you've arrived."
