Chapter 51 Some grievances are etched into the bones.
Ji Ying woke up again in the evening.
Chen Yuan's voice came from the doorway.
“Mr. Gu, you actually know that Wen Li tampered with the samples, but the first test results were indeed undeniable, which is why your wife suffered like this. Fortunately, you contacted Mr. Zhou, and the second test was able to uncover the truth so smoothly. Once your wife wakes up, explain it to her properly.”
Gu Yanchen's voice was not heard, but the old lady snorted.
"You can weigh the pros and cons, you can strategize, but can Yingying do that? The truth will be revealed sooner or later, but the more injections she takes, the colder her heart will become. Some grievances will be etched into her bones."
Gu Yanchen did not respond to the old lady's words, but remained silent for a moment before asking Zhang Cheng.
"How is she now? Is she still in danger?"
Perhaps feeling guilty towards Ji Ying, Zhang Cheng's voice was very soft.
"Master Gong couldn't say exactly what medicine he used, but I can guess a little. Although his entire body's blood has been cleansed, the damage to his body needs careful treatment, otherwise it will leave lasting effects."
"What are the aftereffects?" the old lady asked.
Zhang Cheng paused for a moment, then said, "It's hard to say; it could trigger organic lesions."
Ji Ying coughed violently because of his words.
“Yingying…”
Gu Yanchen rushed into the ward and took her hand.
Ji Ying pulled her hand back as if she had been electrocuted.
"You...don't touch me!"
Gu Yanchen froze.
Grandma Gu pushed her grandson aside, walked to the bedside, and took Ji Ying's hand.
“Yingying, you’ve suffered a great deal this time. Grandma will definitely stand up for you.”
Ji Ying's throat was dry.
Zhang Cheng raised the hospital bed and fed her water.
"Should I thank you, Dr. Zhang?"
Zhang Cheng's eyes flickered. "Of course not. Saving lives is a doctor's duty."
Ji Ying looked at him without saying a word.
Zhang Cheng felt a lot of pressure and stood behind Gu Yanchen.
Ji Ying then looked away.
Gu Yanchen's gaze instantly turned cold.
The old lady gave the housekeeper a wink, and Zhao Ping immediately produced a document.
"These are the properties and jewelry that Wen Li returned, and they are now all transferred to your name."
Seeing that Ji Ying didn't move, the old lady added, "These things will always be yours once they're in your name, no matter what happens in the future."
After listening to the old lady's words, Ji Ying picked up the pen and signed the agreement.
This was the compensation she was entitled to, and she accepted it without a second thought.
Gu Yanchen watched her sign her name, his eyes dark and unfathomable.
The old lady felt there was still a chance for the two of them, so she looked at her grandson with displeasure.
"Your wife has suffered so much, don't you have anything to say? Let me tell you, if Yingying doesn't forgive you, I'll kick you out too, I don't want you anymore, you son of a bitch."
Ji Yingtai understood the old lady well. On the surface, she was standing up for her, but in reality, every word she said was paving the way for the two of them to save face.
Sure enough, the next second, Grandma Gu patted her hand again, "But granddaughter-in-law, there's no such thing as a grudge that lasts overnight between husband and wife. As long as he knows he was wrong and promises to protect you in the future, you should forgive him."
But can the conflict between her and Gu Yanshen be resolved simply with "I'm sorry, I forgive you"?
Before she could speak, Gu Yanchen said, "Yingying, about this matter..."
Ji Ying calmly interrupted him, "I don't want to see you, and I don't want to hear your voice. Let's break up."
The air seemed to freeze, and Gu Yanchen's face instantly turned frosty.
"Alright," the old lady broke the silence. "After Yingying is discharged from the hospital, she can stay at the old house for a few days. Grandma will give her some nourishment."
Seeing the calculation in the old man's words, and remembering that their wedding anniversary was coming soon, Ji Ying held back and nodded.
The old lady was very happy and said to Gu Yanchen, "Don't bother your wife these days. Reflect on your actions and come back to the old house to see her when you've figured things out."
Gu Yanchen wasn't oblivious to the fact that the old lady was trying to create an opportunity for him.
He nodded, then looked at Ji Ying, "Don't worry about the fourth anniversary banquet, I'll take care of it."
Ji Ying didn't respond to him and looked away.
After staying in the hospital for a few days, she was picked up by the housekeeper and taken back to the old house.
I enjoyed two wonderful days nourished by fish maw and bird's nest.
As the day of her freedom drew closer, her mood improved.
In the evening, the housekeeper, as usual, brewed her favorite roselle tea in the West Flower Hall.
Ji Ying, dressed in a plain long dress, sat down on the chaise longue with a book in her arms.
After flipping through a couple of pages, she noticed the housekeeper hadn't left and asked, "Uncle Zhao, is something the matter?"
Zhao Ping smiled and said, "Young Madam, your dress has arrived. Would you like to try it on?"
Ji Ying wasn't interested. "Just leave it there."
Zhao Ping: "But tomorrow is your and President Gu's fourth wedding anniversary banquet, and all the celebrities in Kun City will be attending."
Is it important?
Ji Ying turned the page, her expression calm.
Zhao Ping paused for a moment, then stepped back.
A short while later, another person came to the West Flower Hall and stood there silently for a long time.
Ji Ying drank half a cup of roselle tea before looking up, only to meet Gu Yanchen's cold gaze.
She put down her teacup and turned her gaze back to the book.
"You've lost a bit of weight, why don't you try on the dress to see if it fits?"
"I didn't just lose weight in the last couple of days, didn't you notice before?"
Gu Yanchen smiled at her words.
He walked up to her and took out a small jewelry box.
Inside was a ring with the exact same design as their wedding ring.
This is the second replica.
Ji Ying found it particularly ironic.
"If it's really already buried at sea, can something exactly the same replace it?"
"Many guests will be coming tomorrow night."
"So I should be sensible and wear it?"
Gu Yanchen's expression darkened slightly.
"Yingying, it's all in the past now..."
Ji Ying interrupted him, "Is it reasonable for you to so easily dismiss my pain?"
Gu Yanchen took a deep breath, as if suppressing some kind of emotion.
That's not what I meant.
"What does that mean? Wen Li owes me an apology, and you say it's unnecessary? Because you're an outsider controlling everything, and you can never be hurt in the slightest. And I'm just a carefully prepared sacrifice for you."
"Yingying!"
Gu Yanchen sat down next to her, and the distance between them suddenly shortened.
He was much taller than her, and when he looked down at her, he exuded a sense of oppression.
"Becoming Mrs. Gu will not be an easy burden. I will help you adapt, but you also need to learn to stand in my shoes and weigh my interests."
Ji Ying raised the corners of her lips in a mocking smile.
"When I need you, you always run to Gu Lingxue first. What right do you have to ask me to stand in your shoes and think about things from your perspective?"
"Gu Yanchen, go and persuade your grandmother to marry your sister. We're not a good match."
Gu Yanchen felt that she was being unreasonable, and no amount of explanation would help.
So he reached out and put his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him.
"The wife of the president of the Gu Group is not someone you can sit on and get off as you please. I do not agree to a divorce, and you had better give up on that idea."
Ji Ying felt very uncomfortable with his closeness and tried to push him away, but couldn't.
Gu Yanchen smelled the sweet and refreshing aroma of hibiscus tea mingling with the scent of her breath. It had been a long time since he had been so intimate with her, and he felt a little distracted.
Just then, the phone rang; it was Chen Yuan calling.
"Mr. Gu, Miss Gu has committed self-harm and has been apprehended, but we need your presence."
Gu Yanchen suppressed his surging agitation and unexpectedly kissed Ji Ying on the cheek before letting go of her.
"Be a good girl and put the ring on properly. I have another surprise for you at the banquet tomorrow night. I will put it on your finger myself."
After the man finished speaking, he left in a hurry.
Ji Ying disgustedly wiped the spot where he had kissed her, then picked up a teacup and threw it at the entrance of the West Flower Hall.
Should we put the necklace that Gu Lingxue used on her?
She doesn't want secondhand goods!
She picked up her phone and texted: "Has the luggage been delivered?"
Xiao Xia replied instantly, "The day you left Platinum Bay, I had the courier pick it up. Your new home is all furnished and ready for you to move in."
Ji Ying finally felt a little happier.
Gu Yanchen, just wait for the surprise I've prepared for you.
