Chapter 4 Divorce Li Jingshen
Shen Zhichu staggered back. The ten-minute journey took her twenty minutes. There was no heating in the villa, and the huge room was deathly cold.
Shen Zhichu kicked off her high heels and staggered into the bathroom like a drunk. She turned on the hot water in the bathtub and filled it halfway. The person who was still holding on the moment before fell into the bathtub like a dead person. The hot water spread and the person disappeared silently. The bright red dress covered the entire bathtub, like glaring blood, making Shen Zhichu's face look as white as rice paper.
She closed her eyes and sank her face into the water. The water gradually covered her head, blocking all her senses. The brief suffocation paralyzed her heart. After a while, she couldn't help but open her mouth. The hot water entered her mouth, and a feeling of nausea rushed up from her stomach.
Chen Zhichu opened her bloodshot eyes and poked her head out of the water. She lay on the bathtub, her body hanging prostrate. It felt like a hand was grabbing at her stomach. She opened her mouth numbly, her upper body twitching uncontrollably. After not eating for a day, she vomited up all yellow sour water, which burned her throat and made her tears fall.
After vomiting to the end, Shen Zhichu rubbed her sore eyes and looked at the blood in the mucus on the ground. The corners of her mouth pulled up slightly, but the smile did not reach her eyes, and her pupils were full of death and desolation.
She took off her red dress and wiped the blood on the ground. She couldn't let Li Jingshen see the blood.
It was gradually getting dark outside. Shen Zhichu returned to the bedroom barefoot and fell into the bed. She couldn't sleep. She didn't know that when she was sick, she could still imagine a promising future. Now, no matter how hard she tried, it was all a desperate struggle and useless.
Four years, she spent four years losing everything, from being full of love to the bottomless despair now.
On this day, she seemed to have shed all the tears in her life. Shen Zhichu put his hand on his heart and taunted bitterly: It's obviously your stomach that's rotten, why are you in so much pain?
The phone in her bag suddenly vibrated. Shen Zhichu stood up reflexively and opened her bag as quickly as possible to take out her phone. When she saw the incoming call message on the screen, she seemed to have lost all her strength.
It’s not him…Chen Zhichu, what on earth are you expecting?
Shen Zhichu stared at the phone blankly for two seconds, and finally slid his finger upwards stiffly to answer the call.
"Qin Mo." Shen Zhichu's voice was hoarse, like a knife blade scraping against a whetstone, a little harsh.
Qin Mo is her childhood sweetheart who grew up with her. They are not relatives but are better than family. When she was a child, she lived in Qin's house for a long time. To Shen Zhichu, Qin Mo is her brother.
On the phone, Qin Mo asked worriedly, "Zhi Chu, why is your voice so hoarse? Are you sick?"
"I have a cold, and my voice is hoarse after a nap..."
Before Shen Zhichu could finish her words, Qin Mo on the phone interrupted her, "Zhichu, are you going to lie to me too? Have you forgotten that I'm a doctor? I can still tell the difference between the sound of someone just waking up and the sound of someone crying because of a cold."
Her throat choked, as if a sharp stone was blocking it, grinding her mouth and making it bleed. She couldn't spit it out or swallow it. She couldn't utter a word of explanation and finally smiled bitterly.
Qin Mo asked: "Zhi Chu, can you tell me why you are crying?"
Shen Zhichu held her phone and stared at the wooden floor. No one likes to show their most vulnerable part. She shook her head and refused, "No."
Qin Mo was stunned. He knew what kind of personality Shen Zhichu had. To put it nicely, she was stubborn and to put it bluntly, she was stubborn. If she didn't want to talk, you couldn't pry her out a single word of truth even if you used pliers to pry her.
Qin Mo could only change the subject: "What was the result of your physical examination report when you went to the hospital today?"
Shen Zhichu pursed his chapped lips: "Very good."
Qin Mo said, "If you don't want to talk about it, forget it. I'll go to the hospital myself. I'm qualified to see your medical report."
Qin Mo had an appointment as the chief surgeon in that hospital, so it would be very easy for him to check.
I made a mistake...
"You decide for yourself or let me check. It's your choice." He was still forcing her.
The phone suddenly became very quiet, so quiet that she could hear the breathing inside. Shen Zhichu said in defeat: "Cancer, advanced stomach cancer."
Qin Mo: "..."
The other party seemed to be holding back something, and the sound of his ragged breathing continued to reach her ears through the phone.
"How is it possible...you are still so young..." Qin Mo murmured to himself, his voice gradually choking.
Shen Zhichu could feel his sadness through the phone. He was sad for her. She was already very satisfied that someone cared about her before she died.
"Come to the hospital and I'll examine you again."
Shen Zhichu refused: "No matter how many times I check, the result is the same. Qin Mo, I know my own body well. Maybe this is retribution..."
"What nonsense! Zhichu, listen to me. Stay in the hospital and get treated. You will definitely get better..." Qin Mo's voice was filled with sadness. He was the doctor in charge of this disease. He knew how serious this disease was and how unbearable the pain was.
How could Shen Zhichu have let his body become like this?
Qin Mo didn't know how to persuade Shen Zhichu. Sometimes it wasn't about whether she wanted to live or not, but whether God would give her life. Her time was already limited. The hospital's advice was either to stay in the hospital for a few more years or to give up treatment and leave it to fate. In short... she was dying.
"Zhichu, divorce Li Jingshen. Look at how he tortured you in the past four years you've been together."
Divorce...Chen Zhichu had never thought about divorcing Li Jingshen. To her, he was everything, the light she wanted to catch her whole life, but how could she catch the light?
Shen Zhichu gripped the phone tightly, his knuckles turning white, and used a lot of strength: “I’ll consider it.”
Divorcing Li Jingshen is like digging a piece of flesh out of your chest. How easy is that?
Qin Mo asked her to go to the hospital again the next day. Shen Zhichu agreed but didn't really take it to heart.
In addition to being Li Jingshen's wife, she is also the president of Shen's Company, and there are always various things weighing on her.
Human endurance is like a camel, which can carry heavy loads under high pressure, but often the camel's death is just a straw on its back.
After hanging up the call, Shen Zhichu threw the phone on the bedside table. Her stomach was still aching and she was afraid that it would be difficult to fall asleep tonight. She opened the drawer and took out two bottles of medicine, one for painkillers and the other for sleeping pills. She took two pills of each and fell on the bed.
She didn't know if it was the effect of the medicine, but her brain started to feel a little foggy and she had frequent nightmares, like she was sleep paralyzed. Her chest felt heavy and she couldn't breathe. She shook her head and stammered. After struggling to wake up, she suddenly realized that the person who was pressing on her was not some evil spirit but Li Jingshen.
