☆78. Chapter 78: Feeling aggrieved

Chapter 78: Feeling Grievous

No matter how much Li Jingshen talked about diet, he didn't understand it. Doctor Jiang thought for a moment and replied, "I'll go back and prepare a recipe and send it to your email."

"Um."

Li Jingshen called Aunt Wang over and handed her the Chinese medicine list in her hand: "Go to the Chinese medicine clinic tomorrow and prepare the medicine according to this house for Shen Zhichu to drink. Remember to keep an eye on her."

Shen Zhichu was extremely afraid of bitterness. She wouldn't even take western medicine, let alone the dark Chinese medicine. She was afraid that once it was boiled, she would pour it out without her noticing.

Doctor Jiang glanced at the time and said, "Mr. Li, I'll be leaving now."

Li Jingshen nodded and told Aunt Wang: "Aunt Wang, please send Doctor Jiang down."

All of a sudden, everyone in the bedroom left. Li Jingshen went out to chat with Xia Mingyue for a while, and after coaxing her into silence, he returned to Shen Zhichu's room.

Once a person falls ill, even the strongest person will show some fragility, just like Chen Zhichu now. The room is too quiet, with only a wall lamp on, and the light is dim.

She could have endured the consequences of Li Jingshen's torture, the vomiting and the doctor's visit, but it was all over, and she didn't even receive a single word of concern. She suddenly felt a sense of grievance, sniffling and pressing her face against the pillow, trembling slightly.

As soon as Li Jingshen came back, he saw Shen Zhichu with his entire head buried in the quilt, so airtight that he felt suffocated just looking at it.

He reached over, grabbed Shen Zhichu's neck and pulled him out.

Shen Zhichu's white flesh turned red when she pinched her neck lightly. She shuddered, moved her eyelids, and stammered, "I don't feel well."

"I know, but it will be more uncomfortable if you bury your face in the quilt." Li Jingshen reached out and tucked the corner of the quilt for her.

Looking at her fair little face, he couldn't help but reach out and touch it. Shen Zhichu became much more obedient when she was sick. For a moment, he thought he had returned to the past.

He thought: If Shen Zhichu can only be so well behaved when he is sick, then it would be better if he is sick.

He was so extreme that he wanted to control everything about Shen Zhichu, including the rest of her life, her body and mind, and even wanted her to be comfortable or not at his own pace.

So many things happened tonight, but looking at the time it wasn’t late, just after ten o’clock.

Li Jingshen usually went to bed before eleven o'clock. He took a shower, received a phone call, and went to the study to deal with work.

Not long after Li Jingshen left, Shen Zhichu's phone rang. She reached out her hand in a daze and fumbled in the drawer to find the phone.

Shen Zhichu opened her eyes and focused on the caller ID on the screen. It turned out to be her former assistant.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Shen, have you rested?"

I haven't heard this name for a long time, and for a moment I felt like I was in another world.

"I'm just about to take a break. Is there anything wrong, Assistant Lin?"

Assistant Lin said, "Mr. Shen, the director of the Fukang Orphanage that you previously sponsored contacted me again this year and asked if you have time to go to the orphanage to attend the banquet on May 21st."

She has been sponsoring the orphanage for four years, and every May 21st the director invites her to a banquet at the orphanage.

May 21st is a special day. It is her birthday and her mother's memorial day.

She has never celebrated her birthday and has never mentioned it to anyone...

In the four years since she married Li Jingshen, on that day every year, she would go to the cemetery in the morning and return home in the afternoon to send a message to Li Jingshen and wait for him to come back.

Has Li Jingshen ever come back?

She had come back before. Two years ago, in order to get him to come back and spend a night with her, she asked someone to take Xia Mingyue away. That night, Li Jingshen was like a devil and almost strangled her to death on the bed.

"Mr. Shen, are you going? If you are going, I have already spoken to her."

Shen Zhichu came back to her senses: "Go, reply to her, and by the way, edit the dean's phone number into a text message and send it to me." This year may be her last birthday, and she doesn't want to spend it alone again.

"OK."

A while after hanging up the phone, Shen Zhichu received a text message with a location. She clicked on the location and found that it was not far from Bancheng, which would take an hour to drive there.

Shen Zhichu funded the orphanage directly with grants. She had never been there and had never thought about buying any gifts for the children there.

After checking online, Shen Zhichu decided to buy a truckload of dolls and send them over. She quickly placed an order, filled in the address, and paid.

May 21st is Wednesday, and the package should arrive in two days.

When Li Jingshen came back from work and found that Shen Zhichu was still awake, he raised his eyebrows, his eyes dark and unclear: "What are you doing? Why aren't you asleep yet?"

"nothing."

Chen Zhichu put away his phone, and in Li Jingshen's eyes, this action showed that he was guilty.

"Who are you texting?" he asked casually.

"No one."

Li Jingshen retracted the curve of his lips, his eyes dark and obviously dissatisfied with her answer.

"Your period is coming, so don't go out and just rest at home for a week."

She can't stay at home for a week, because she has to go to the orphanage in two days.

"No……."

Li Jingshen looked down at her from above, his eyes fixed on her, releasing an invisible sense of danger.

Shen Zhichu felt like she had a thorn in her back. She choked and, after sorting out her thoughts, tried various ways to change the subject, but to no avail.

Li Jingshen reached out and snatched her phone: "What's the password?"

"Li Jingshen, this is my privacy..."

"Give me the password and don't make me repeat it a second time."

Chen Zhichu turned away in anger and didn't look at him: "0510"

Li Jingshen had no impression of this number. Shen Zhichu watched him unlock the door, and a bitter taste suddenly rose in his throat.

May 10th was the day they first met sixteen years ago. She had memorized it so well that it had become a habit. Almost all the passwords she had were of this number.

Li Jingshen didn't remember, and seemed to have no impression of this number at all.

Li Jingshen unlocked his phone and browsed through the history. When he saw the text message, he asked, "Are you going to Fukang Orphanage on Wednesday?"

"Um."

"Just to attend a shabby banquet?" Li Jingshen was very disdainful. How good could a banquet hosted by an orphanage be?

Could someone like Shen Zhichu, who was used to being a young lady, bear to sit and eat with a group of orphans?

Shen Zhichu lowered her eyes, her butterfly eyelashes covering the loneliness in her pupils. To Li Jingshen, it was just a broken banquet, but to Shen Zhichu, it was her first birthday, a birthday with someone by her side.
