Chapter 117 Car Crash

Neon lights flickered, and the city at night was a dazzling spectacle of extravagance. The sounds of cruise ships whizzing and the city's hustle and bustle mingled together, creating an atmosphere of decadent charm. The city was exceptionally congested, with long queues of cars stretching from the traffic lights at intersections.

Some car owners seemed to want to compete with top supercars, so they deliberately cut into the lane where Qi Shen was driving.

Another driver was honking his horn frantically, trying to squeeze in front of the Pagani, but Qi Shen maintained the perfect distance between his car and the car in front. This caused the other driver to lean slightly, seemingly about to change lanes, but he failed.

The car was just getting close to Fang Zhi, and even through the car window, the horn was making her ears hurt.

Fang Zhi frowned slightly, and several times she wanted to roll down the car window to tell him to stop honking, but she swallowed her words each time.

She glanced furtively at Qi Shen in the driver's seat.

The man's face remained as gentle and calm as ever, showing no sign of anything unusual or fluctuating. Only the clean, tidy, and rhythmic tapping of his fingertips on the steering wheel betrayed his true emotions.

Catching the girl's gaze out of the corner of his eye, Qi Shen turned to look at her, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Were you disturbed by the noise from the cars outside?"

Fang Zhi pursed her lips and told the truth, "A little."

Actually, it's not just a little bit.

Traffic jams are annoying enough, but then there are cars trying to cut in line, honking incessantly in your ear.

The owner of this car went too far.

Even the most good-tempered person would find it unbearable; she couldn't stand it, so she subconsciously wanted to see her brother's reaction.

The girl's beautiful and refined features showed some unhappiness and weariness. He knew his Zhizhi well; she was kind-hearted and would only say "it's okay" if she could tolerate it, and would only say "a little" if she couldn't bear it anymore.

Qi Shen felt a chill run down his spine, and a ruthless intent surged within him.

He glanced at the car honking and immediately recognized its model: a brand-new Porsche coupe, with a red string tied to its side mirror—clearly a recently purchased car.

The man's handsome and refined features revealed a hint of malice and hostility.

He didn't care that drivers were blocking the lane.

But the worst thing a car owner can do is let Zhizhi waste her emotions on him.

Qi Shen withdrew his gaze and chuckled softly, "It's okay if it disturbs my brother, but it's not okay if it disturbs Zhizhi."

Qi Shen reached out and touched the girl's face, his tone gentle, but his words carried a chilling coldness and ruthlessness, "Do you think we should teach him a lesson?"

Fang Zhi's back tensed, and he stammered, "Brother...no...no need...is it..."

"Why not?" Qi Shen countered.

Fang Zhi was taken aback by the question, and after thinking for a few seconds, he whispered, "Because one should be lenient when one can be lenient." Isn't that what we were taught to be tolerant and magnanimous?

Qi Shen stared intently at Fang Zhi.

He didn't want the little girl to grow wings and learn to leave, and he didn't want her to come into contact with outsiders. But that didn't mean he wanted her to be weak or to remain silent if she was bullied by others.

No matter how big or small the matter is, it cannot be done.

She was a treasure he wanted to keep hidden away from others, let alone let her be bullied by outsiders.

“That’s for people who are incompetent.” Qi Shen held her clear black and white eyes tightly, speaking each word lightly yet with utmost seriousness. “Today, your brother is going to teach Zhizhi some other things. If anyone offends you, you must retaliate tenfold.”

He wanted to tell the little girl these words when he brought her back, but she was still too young then.

"Regardless of whether she is right or wrong in a conflict with someone, Zhizhi is always right in her brother's eyes."

"With your brother behind you, you have nothing to be afraid of."

Fang Zhi felt a violent tremor in his heart because of his words, and an indescribable feeling spread through his heart.

It was her imprisoned freedom, and his unreasonable protection of her, attacking her from both sides and pulling her along.

It was as if it wanted to split her in two.

Just as Fang Zhi was wondering how to reply, the man took out his phone, dialed a number, gave his location to the person on the other end, and then instructed:

"I came here to deal with the car accident and suppress the news. I don't want to see any disturbances online."

Car accident? Where was the car accident?

Fang Zhi snapped out of his earlier confusion and glanced blankly around the car.

Could the car accident refer to them?!

Her brother wasn't thinking... Her instinctive reaction to danger made her blurt out, "Brother!"

"Don't be afraid, Zhizhi. Your brother knows what he's doing." Qi Shen's voice was low and slow. He looked straight ahead, his thin lips slightly upturned, but his eyes were filled with a chilling darkness. "Be good and hold on tight to your seatbelt."

With her in the car, he wouldn't let her get hurt.

The words of advice caught in her throat as she realized she was overwhelmed by the man's frenzied aura. At that moment, she couldn't think straight and instinctively gripped the seatbelt tightly.

With a thud, the gas pedal went off.

......

"Get out of the car! I just picked it up from the dealership less than a month ago, and you fucking dented it?"

"Get out of the car right now! Pay up!" The Porsche owner was a man in his early thirties. He angrily pounded on Qi Shen's car window and shouted curses.

Only then did I realize that my heart was far from at peace.

She glanced outside, then quickly shrank back, her small body shrinking back. "What do we do now, brother?"

Qi Shen remained calm and composed, showing no negative emotions whatsoever, as if nothing had happened.

He unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned towards her, and patted her stiff back, whispering words of comfort:

"Don't worry about it."

Fang Zhi had always been a well-behaved girl who obeyed the law.
