A melancholy atmosphere permeated the entire office floor.
"Monday, Monday, my spirit is dead, Monday is the worst Monday ever!" A smartly dressed office worker held a cup of coffee in both hands, looking listless and full of resentment. "I can't escape going to school, I can't escape going to work, when can I retire?"
Upon hearing this, her colleague jokingly said to her, "Want to retire? That's easy! I'll go to HR and hand in your resignation letter in a bit."
"Don't come." The woman rolled her eyes. "I'd like to quit, but what if I quit and have no income? Besides, there are very few companies that can compare with SQ's salary and benefits."
Just as his colleague was about to speak again, he caught a glimpse of a tall, imposing figure strolling towards him.
She tugged at the woman's sleeve and lowered her voice, "President Qi is here." She then winked towards the corridor.
The white-collar worker, who was just complaining, quickly put down his coffee, and his weariness was replaced by a polite smile.
The staff in the secretariat stopped what they were doing, stood up from their chairs, bowed, and greeted him, "Hello, President Qi."
"Hmm." Qi Shen nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the empty space in the middle of his eyes. He said calmly, "Tell Assistant Chen to come to the office after he arrives."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone realized that Assistant Chen, who was always the first to arrive without fail, was actually late!
After exchanging glances privately, Chen's assistant, who was personally accompanied by him, bowed respectfully and said, "Yes, Mr. Qi."
The refined and handsome man entered the office, and the staff in the secretariat sat down. One of the senior employees looked at Chen's apprentice and said, "It's strange that your master, who is the top person by President Qi's side, is late."
The assistant scratched his head and smiled shyly, "We're all human, not machines. I've been with the company for a year and I've been late twice. My mentor has been with President Qi for so many years and has only been late once. This is perfectly normal."
"You think you can compare to your master? Your master's annual salary plus bonus is over a million." The man laughed and scolded, "How much do you even have?"
The assistant smiled but remained silent.
The topic of wages had been brought up, and with the new work arrangements not yet announced after the weekend, employees were already discussing new topics.
"Did you guys see the push notification last night? A Porsche and a Pagani crashed in the city center yesterday, and the damage is estimated to be in the millions."
"Hiss." One of them gasped. "Good heavens, two means of transportation are enough to kill me."
"Where is it?" The person who spoke held up their phone. "This news can't be found on the platform at all."
"How is that possible? I clearly saw it."
"If you don't believe me, search it up yourself."
"It's really gone, but I'm sure I saw it." He stroked his chin and guessed, "I guess the car owner comes from a very prominent family and has a status that can't be discussed, so they had someone suppress the news."
Amidst their back-and-forth banter, the person handling the delayed news of the car accident arrived late, sporting slight dark circles under their eyes.
"Master..." The assistant paused, staring at the man's face, which seemed to have been drained of its vitality, her tone extremely uncertain, "Master...didn't you get enough rest last night?"
Assistant Chen suppressed a yawn, rubbed his face, and gave his apprentice a disapproving look. "What do you think?"
Assistant: "Hehe."
Assistant Chen rubbed his sore eyes.
He was all set to go to bed last night after taking a shower and watch some football, but what happened?
In reality, as soon as Boss Qi makes a phone call, he immediately gets dressed and gets up, working diligently to solve problems for his boss.
It's a good thing he's not married, otherwise he'd be making a scene if he went out in the middle of the night.
The car accident wasn't serious.
The problem is that the driver who crashed into Mr. Qi only paid for the mandatory traffic accident liability insurance to save money, and didn't pay for anything else.
The car owner was stunned when he heard about the exorbitant repair cost. He grabbed him and wouldn't let him leave, pleading and arguing with him.
He was driven to the brink of madness as the night dragged on until the early hours of the morning.
Who is it?
He could afford a car worth a million, but he was stingy with insurance premiums of only tens of thousands of yuan. Now he's paying the full amount out of his own pocket.
"By the way, did you need something from me?"
"Oh... um..." The assistant straightened up, "President Qi asked you to go to his office later."
Assistant Chen's expression changed upon hearing this. "Why didn't you say so earlier when President Qi called me? Why were you chatting with your master here?!"
"You didn't even give me a chance..." Before the assistant could finish speaking, the man had already passed by him like a gust of wind.
-
The office was quiet and spacious, with only the sounds of breathing and the scratching of pens on paper.
Assistant Chen took a few steps toward his desk and stopped, bowing his head in a sincere and apologetic manner. "President Qi, I'm sorry I was late today." He was a shrewd old man and didn't give the man a chance to question him. He added, "The car accident has been taken care of."
"Have people keep a close eye on online discussions lately. Suppress any videos or pictures. I don't want to see a single photo of your Miss Zhizhi leaked online." Qi Shen glanced at him indifferently. "Understood?"
The man's eyes turned cold, his sharp jawline revealing a stern expression. Knowing full well Miss Fang's importance to President Qi and his intense possessiveness towards her, Assistant Chen's expression became solemn.
"Yes, I understand."
"You can leave now."
Having received the instructions, Assistant Chen was about to leave when he suddenly stopped. "President Qi, there's one more thing."
"The problem is that the driver of the car that caused the accident is having financial difficulties and can't come up with that much money for repairs right away. He's asking if you could help him out..."
"Assistant Chen." Qi Shen opened the file in his hand, interrupting him without looking up, his nonchalant tone revealing a fearsome aura, "What do you think? I don't need to tell you how to do such a small thing."
Assistant Chen was taken aback.
Why does what President Qi said sound so familiar? Did he just reprimand his apprentice like that?
