Chapter 147 Anger

Qi Shen stared at the phone number for a while, his long, clean fingers gently stroking the edge. His refined and elegant features revealed no emotion.

A moment later, he clicked on the number and dialed it back.

In the boys' dormitory, Xiao Pang was woken up by the buzzing of his cell phone. He pulled back the curtain on his bed and shouted across the room:

"Brother Jiang, wake up, your phone keeps ringing."

"Brother Jiang, Brother Jiang..."

Jiang Yu drank until the early hours of this morning last night before finally falling asleep. His phone and Xiao Pang's constant noise gave him a headache. He mumbled a reply to Xiao Pang, "Okay," before closing his eyes and fumbling for his phone with a furrowed brow.

Jiang Yu answered the call without even glancing at it, his tone not pleasant after being woken up, "Hello, who are you looking for?"

The static and the boy's slightly irritable voice reached Qi Shen's ears. His expression turned cold, and he remained silent.

The green belts on both sides rushed past, and the atmosphere inside the carriage was quiet and eerily quiet. Qi Shen rested his other hand on his knee, his eyes lowered, seemingly lost in thought.

After receiving no response for a while, Jiang Yu impatiently ran his fingers through his hair. "What's the point of calling without saying anything?"

He opened his eyes, moved the phone from his ear to his face, and muttered under his breath, "Crazy... you're sick."

After seeing the caller ID, Jiang Yu quickly swallowed back the words that were about to come out, his tone a mixture of surprise and delight:

"Only then did I realize."

"I saw that the rumors about you on your school forum have been resolved. How are you doing now?"

Qi Shen listened intently to the boy's endless stream of concern. If he hadn't recognized the person at first glance, only finding the voice familiar, then upon hearing the second voice, Qi Shen was certain who it was.

"Fang Zhi?" Jiang Yu felt a strange unease. "Are you listening? Why aren't you saying anything?"

“Jiang Yuze,” Qi Shen interrupted him calmly.

Upon hearing the man's voice, Jiang Yu was startled, his handsome face gradually losing its initial surprise and returning to calm. "It's you. Where's Fang Zhi? Isn't this her phone?"

A dark light flashed in his eyes behind his glasses, so fast it was almost imperceptible. Qi Shen didn't answer his question, but instead uttered four words in a flat tone and without any fluctuation in his voice, "You breached the contract."

Jiang Yu pursed his lips into a thin line, his throat slightly dry. "I know I promised you I wouldn't appear in front of Fang Zhi again, and I wouldn't bother her, but this time there's a reason." He paused, then explained succinctly, "I just happened to find out she was in trouble, so please don't make things difficult for her."

"What gives you the right to advise me not to make things difficult for Zhizhi?" The man, offended by Jiang Yuze's words, remained expressionless, a playful smile curving his thin lips. "Putting aside the fact that I won't make things difficult for her, you should know that Zhizhi's affairs have nothing to do with you. Don't forget the choice you made back then."

"It's only been a few years, do you want to go back on your word? Or are you prepared to relive the feeling of helplessness?" At the end, Qi Shen's tone remained calm, but his words carried a hint of danger and warning.

Jiang Yu's expression turned somber and complicated. "I haven't forgotten. I don't need you to remind me again. I'm just concerned that Fang Zhi will get into trouble after seeing the forum."

Qi Shen turned his head to look at the vehicles and pedestrians coming and going by the roadside, his deep voice sounding somewhat nonchalant.

"Knowing that I'm here, you don't need the concern of an outsider. This is the last time, and there won't be a next time. I don't need to point out the little thoughts you're hiding in your heart."

"I..." Jiang Yu was stung, his young and arrogant face freezing for a moment, wanting to refute but not knowing what to refute.

Qi Shen continued, "When you told Zhizhi about her accident at school, did you consider the consequences of her seeing those malicious words and being unable to bear the insults?"

"If you can't guarantee her safety, don't reveal anything about her safety to her."

After speaking, Qi Shen immediately hung up the phone.

Because Jiang Yuze recklessly tipped him off, his Zhizhi ran away from Nangong. Fortunately, the little girl was optimistic.

There have been people in the past who chose to commit suicide because they couldn't bear the gossip and rumors.

Before the phone screen went dark, Qi Shen added Jiang Yuzhe's number to the blacklist, his handsome face expressionless.

As for why he didn't make trouble for Jiang Yu this time, and easily let him go, it was because Zhizhi had only contacted him this once.

During his time at Lin Yisheng's house, when he couldn't see her, the two of them sensibly didn't contact each other again, which meant that he wasn't special to the girl anymore. So he didn't need to waste his energy on this boy.

Qi Shen silently curled his lips, his smile somewhat mocking.

Even though he can't escape the shadow of his parents' status as a second-generation rich kid, even if he harbors ulterior motives and even if Zhizhi isn't by his side, Jiang Yu is destined not to get the person he wants.

-

The busy tone was accompanied by the static of the phone, and Jiang Yu's grip on the phone tightened, veins bulging.

He wanted to care about Fang Zhi and also took a chance when he contacted her. Even though they hadn't been in contact or met for several years, he still couldn't let go of the past.

He didn't doubt Qi Shen's feelings and love for Fang Zhi, but true feelings and love are fickle. He waited for Qi Shen to make a mistake so he could find a legitimate reason to stay by Fang Zhi's side.

Unfortunately, the man saw right through her.

With his last glimmer of hope extinguished, Jiang Yu helplessly tossed his phone aside.

He had long since come to terms with reality. For example, when Fang Zhi encountered this problem, did he consider the possibility that Fang Zhi might not be able to handle it and choose to harm herself? Was he capable of helping her solve it?

The answer is obvious.
