Chapter 171 Her Era Begins

Fang Zhi performed exceptionally well during her training at the National Theatre of China, and within just a few months, she was promoted to become a formal classical dance performer.

The young woman is humble and friendly, speaks in a gentle tone, and has strong professional skills, so her colleagues all have a very good impression of her.

There is no backstabbing or infighting like in the workplace here. Among them, Fang Zhi's closest friend is Ji Peiwen, who is three years older than her.

The two lived in the same dormitory at the National Theater.

This time, I happened to be participating as one of the backup dancers at the Vienna State Opera, as the International Academy of Art and Dance was holding an art exchange exhibition.

After rehearsal, Ji Peiwen put her arm around Fang Zhi's shoulder and teased, "Rich lady Fang, are you going to treat me to a big meal tonight?"

Not long ago, a colleague at the theater suddenly fell seriously ill and needed to be hospitalized, which incurred a large medical expense. This colleague also came from a poor family and had just joined the theater.

Fang Zhi felt sorry for her young colleague. So, for the first time, she used the bank card the man had given her.

Ji Peiwen was right next to her at the time.

The woman was so shocked when she saw the balance on her bank card that her jaw almost dropped. She even rubbed her eyes and carefully counted how many zeros followed the 52.

A total of five million two hundred thousand.

Not only was she shocked, but Fang Zhi was also speechless with surprise when he saw the balance in the card.

Uncle Qi only gives cards with a limit of 100,000 each time, so it's impossible for him to give that much. Besides, "520" is a number with special meaning, so the only possibility is the older brother.

She later took some time to check the balance of each card.

All of them were 5.2 million, and in a daze, she suddenly became a rich woman worth hundreds of millions.

Fang Zhi didn't plan to use the money in her card. She silently calculated her salary in her mind, then looked at Ji Peiwen and asked seriously, "What do you want to eat?"

"I was just kidding." The latter laughed heartily, pinching Fang Zhi's little face. "How can you be so honest? You look like a model student who has never lied to anyone since you were a child."

Fang Zhi seemed to have thought of something, and his expression froze.

Lies? Of course she's lied. All those lies she's told over the years have been directed at the same person.

Ji Peiwen didn't notice her unusual behavior. "I can't get used to the food abroad." She put her arm around Fang Zhi's shoulder and walked towards the outside of the practice room. "Let's go, let's hurry up and see what our chef made today, or there won't be anything left."

Fang Zhi stumbled as he was pulled along, but after regaining his balance, he said softly, "Mm."

"We have a performance the day after tomorrow, and tomorrow is a day off. How about we go for a stroll along the Danube River to relax?"

"Can."

A gentle evening breeze carried the sounds of two women chatting and laughing through the air.

Behind a tree not far away, a tall figure disappeared into the night. He watched them walk away before turning and leaving.

-

The Bristol Hotel is not far from the Vienna Theatre.

Inside the European-style, retro presidential suite, Qi Shen returned to the hotel and stood quietly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the street, his desolate and quiet demeanor almost nonexistent.

The phone on the table kept vibrating, its screen filled with calls from China, but the man showed no intention of answering.

He had spoken out of turn; he couldn't resist the urge to see her.

In the first month after the girl left, he numbed himself with a lot of work. When he returned to Nangong, most of her things were still there, and her presence still lingered in the room, as if she were still by his side and had not left.

By the second month, the traces of her in the master bedroom had almost completely dissipated. Without her voice, her company, or even anything that could recreate her presence, he began to suffer from insomnia and couldn't sleep at night.

The longing surged back like an invisible ghost clinging to him, following him wherever he went.

Knowing that she had become a full member of the National Theatre and hearing from Lin Yisheng that she was coming to Vienna to perform, he came without hesitation.

He missed her first fall performance.

So for him, this was her first formal performance, and a voice in his heart kept reminding him: Don't miss it.

The only difference is that he won't bother her.

......

The next day, Fang Zhi and Ji Peiwen strolled to the banks of the Danube after dinner. The sky above wasn't pure black; its color was closer to inky blue. The shimmering water reflected the magnificent palaces, creating a scene of sacred luxury.

Among a group of foreigners with big eyes and high noses, two East Asian faces stood out.

Among them were many outgoing and uninhibited foreign friends who, when passing by, enthusiastically praised Fang Zhi's beauty.

Fang Zhi smiled and turned to thank them.

In that instant when she turned around, her face froze. She thought she saw a profile in the crowd that was all too familiar. Lost in a daze, she looked again, but there was nothing there.

Is it just my imagination?

She thinks she just saw her brother.

Seeing the girl standing there motionless, Ji Peiwen moved closer to her and asked, "Zhizhi, what are you looking at?"

"It's nothing." Fang Zhi slowly shook his head, his voice very soft, "I mistook someone for someone else just now."

He didn't even come to see her that day. How could someone so busy with work come here just to secretly watch her?

"Who is it?" Ji Peiwen followed her gaze and teased, "It's not someone you like, is it?"

Fang Zhi hesitated for a moment, neither confirming nor denying.

Seeing that she didn't look well, Ji Peiwen realized that she had said something wrong, so she quickly pulled Fang Zhi aside and changed the subject, "Let's go, let's take the ferry."

Fang Zhi absentmindedly hummed in response.
