Chapter 18 You're such a bro!

The cafeteria at Shangde High School occupies a fairly large area, and last summer it was expanded to make it more convenient for students.

But it's never like the primary or junior high school sections.

Only students from well-off families can afford to attend Shangde, and the number of students in the department is stable, so neither the cafeteria nor other places are too crowded.

In its high school section, the school relaxed its admission criteria and expanded its enrollment to include more top students in each grade, in order to improve its college entrance examination pass rate and enhance its reputation.

With more students, the public areas are becoming crowded, and the cafeteria is noisy right now.

Fang Zhi and Liu Siyi arrived late, and the two girls carried their trays around for a long time before finally finding an empty seat in a corner by the back door.

Liu Siyi plopped down, wiping her sweat as she complained, "Eating every day is like fighting a war. We're starving to death on the way before we even get our military rations."

Fang Zhi smiled at Liu Siyi's words and sat down next to her, saying, "What nonsense about dying."

“That’s true,” Liu Siyi said, pointing to the restaurant. “Look, some students haven’t even found a seat yet.”

Fang Zhi looked up in the direction she pointed, and it was just as Si Yi had said.

She said thankfully, "Then we're lucky."

I arrived later than usual, but I managed to sit down.

Liu Siyi buried her head in her food and took a bite, mumbling indistinctly, "Zhizhi, it's my birthday next month, can you come?"

Fang Zhi hesitated for a moment, then said tentatively, "I need to ask my brother first."

Although she doesn't see her brother often now, he has said that she should consult him beforehand about anything.

"Oh, my dear Zhi!" Liu Siyi made a face. "You're such a rascal!"

Fang Zhi smiled slightly and did not refute.

Liu Siyi kept nagging:

"Your brother is so strict with you. I'm planning to have a blast after the college entrance exam next month, the kind where I don't come home all night!"

"If you don't come out, wouldn't I be very pitiful?"

Fang Zhi said softly, "I didn't say I wouldn't go. After I talk to my brother, he should agree."

After speaking, she lowered her eyelashes.

Siyi had never met her brother and didn't know that he was a very easy-going and gentle person.

A group of teenagers walked in through the restaurant's main entrance, laughing and playing around.

The group acted freely and unrestrainedly, standing out in the crowded student cafeteria and causing a commotion.

The boy in the lead wasn't wearing a school uniform; his black sportswear accentuated his slender and tall figure. His short hair was neat and tidy, and his features were handsome and deep-set, with a lazy look in his dark eyes.

Amidst the cacophony of voices, students muttered in hushed tones.

"That must be Jiang Yuze, right? He's the school heartthrob. He doesn't come to school often, but there are legends about him at school."

"I'm already moved to tears by his handsomeness."

"Stop pretending."

Ignoring the other students, the group went straight to the cafeteria window. One of the boys, wearing his school uniform askance, grinned slyly at the boy in the lead and said in a high-pitched voice, "Brother Jiang, what do you want to eat? I'll get you some food right away."

As soon as he said that, the others in his group couldn't help but tease him, "Yeah, Brother Jiang~"

"Brother Jiang, my heart hurts~ Could you massage it for me~"

"Heh." Jiang Yu glanced at them casually, a playful smile playing on his lips. "Can't one of you speak properly? Do I need to trim your tongues for you?"

Seeing his reaction, the people around him wisely admitted their mistake, saying, "We were wrong, we were wrong."

"Brother Jiang was just joking with you, it's just that your childhood sweetheart is so funny."

Jiang Yu then pressed the tip of his tongue against his cheek, his handsome face grinning with a roguish air, "What childhood sweetheart? We're not familiar with each other."

One of the boys gave a thumbs up and said, "Great job, Jiang He, you ruthless harasser."

Jiang Yu kicked the boy's trouser leg and said, "Get lost, where did you learn this rubbish?"

Their arrival caused the students queuing for meals nearby to consciously move away, for fear of running into them.

After getting their food, the same thing happened; wherever they went, the students there would make way for them in a very tacit way.

Upon seeing this, the boy with a strand of gray hair clicked his tongue.

“We’re all classmates, and we haven’t done anything to them, so why are they avoiding us?”

My companion teased, "You don't look like a student at all. Have some self-awareness, will you?"

"You're something else." The gray-haired boy grinned coldly. "Wait until I put down my plate before you talk."

The other members encouraged them, "Let's fight! Go for it!"

Jiang Yu ignored their commotion. He disliked crowds or being watched by others, so he left them behind and walked straight into the cafeteria.

He finally found a seat near the back door and sat down casually.

"Zhizhi, have you finished eating?"

The distance wasn't far, and the girl's voice was loud, making it difficult for Jiang Yu to miss.

He hadn't intended to pay attention, but the next second a soft, sweet voice rang out, giving off a cute and innocent feeling.

"Yes, I'm done eating."

Jiang Yu couldn't help but look up and saw the girl wiping her mouth with a tissue.

From his angle, he could clearly see her profile; her black hair was smooth, her skin was as white as snow, and her nose was small and delicate.

Her long, curled eyelashes, each one distinct, fluttered with the girl's blinks, like hooks, captivating the heart.

She is gentle and fragile, as if she needs to be held and protected. It would be wrong to raise your voice at her.

Jiang Yu was somewhat lost in thought, and the girl didn't notice him at all as she and her friend walked past him.

Her fragrance lingered in the air, not the pungent smell of perfume, but more like her natural scent.

Perfectly timed, perfectly natural.

After the entertainment ended, a young man walked up to the table first. "Brother Jiang, what are you staring at on that empty table?"

A thought suddenly struck him: "Could it be that you know how kind you are to us brothers, and there's not enough room at one table, so you're watching that table to make sure no one else sits there?"

"Get out of the way," Jiang Yu glanced at his companion.

He then took a deep breath, trying to erase the image of the girl from his mind.

His companion pursed his lips, wondering what he had done to offend this man.

......

On Friday, traffic was congested at the school gate. Fang Zhi saw the car that was coming to pick her up in the distance and walked over quickly.

After Qi Shen went to university, the Qi family's driver practically became Fang Zhi's personal driver.

After spending so much time together, I realized I had become quite familiar with the driver.

She had just gotten into the car and settled in.

The driver's smile was reflected in the mirror in front of him, and Fang Zhi couldn't help but ask, "Uncle Zhang, what's making you so happy?"

"It's nothing," Uncle Zhang chuckled and quickly said, "I just suddenly remembered a joke."

"Oh." Fang Zhi was simple-minded and thought that Uncle Zhang was genuinely laughing because of the joke, so she didn't ask any more questions.

The car started and drove smoothly all the way to the Qi family villa.

The scenery of the villa courtyard remains the same, meticulously maintained by the servants, unchanged.

Fang Zhi got out of the car and saw the black Bentley parked in the garage. He paused and stopped in his tracks.

That's my brother's car. He's back today?!

It's been almost two months since she last saw her brother during her vacation, and last time he only came back for an hour before flying off to another place for a business trip...

Thinking of this, Fang Zhi quickened his pace and walked towards the villa.
