The girl walked into the classroom absentmindedly. Liu Siyi was still waiting for her in her seat. When she saw her come over, she asked:
"Zhizhi, what did your homeroom teacher say to you?"
"It's nothing." Fang Zhi tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, not wanting her friend to worry about her. She forced a smile onto her fair face. "It's just that I'll be staying at home for the last few days, so I won't be able to stay with you at night."
"Huh?" Liu Siyi's eyes widened, clearly shocked by the news, since Shangde High School had never had a student who could commute from home.
Liu Siyi, whose attention was entirely focused on the "commuting" option, felt a mixture of disbelief and envy. She grabbed Fang Zhi's hand and quickly asked, "Zhizhi, can you tell me how you did it? Do you have some kind of leverage over the principal?"
"Waaah, I want to commute to school too."
Fang Zhi's disappointment and sadness were instantly dispelled by Liu Siyi's interruption, leaving her both amused and exasperated. "How could I possibly have anything on the principal?" she said softly. "It was my brother who approached the principal."
"Then I definitely have no chance." Liu Siyi let go of her hand and rested her chin on her hand. "My brother doesn't have that ability."
Fang Zhi was puzzled. "Why do you say that? What does being a day student have to do with ability?"
"Zhizhi, do you think our school used to have any day students? No, right? This shows that your brother must have put in a lot of effort to pave the way for you."
"In my opinion, since your brother graduated from Shangde, the most practical thing to do is to donate money to his alma mater, which will naturally make it possible for you to commute to school."
"If nothing unexpected happens, the school's infrastructure will soon evolve from version 1.0 to version 2.0."
Liu Siyi spoke eloquently and logically, while Fang Zhi listened, but he was lost in his own thoughts.
If Siyi's words are true, then is her brother going to such great lengths just to prevent her from having much contact with Jiang Yuze?
Such methods are somewhat extreme, and the degree of control is terrifying.
If she continues down this path, what if she makes other mistakes in the future? Fang Zhi didn't even dare to think about what he would do.
"Zhizhi? Zhizhi?" Liu Siyi waved her hand in front of the girl's eyes.
"Um?"
"What are you thinking about? You're so focused on something, I've been calling you for ages and you haven't answered."
Seeing the envious look in her eyes, Fang Zhi changed the subject, "Siyi, do you really want to go home?"
"Of course!" Liu Siyi waved her hand. "As the saying goes, there's no place like home. Although our accommodations are quite nice, they didn't extend the bed to the size of my two-meter bed!"
"I'm not the only one who's envious that you can go home; everyone else in the class would be green with envy too."
Fang Zhi smiled and didn't say anything more. While she was talking to Si Yi, some classmates nearby were already eager to listen.
What is honey to one person may be poison to another; if others knew she was unhappy because she was staying at home, they would think she was faking it.
People don't live by what others say.
She doesn't really care about other people's opinions, but she also doesn't like to create unnecessary trouble for herself.
......
The news of Fang Zhi coming to the school quickly reached Jiang Yuze's ears, and he went to the cafeteria to wait for her at lunchtime.
The flowers and plants near the cafeteria were in full bloom. Liu Siyi went in first to get her food and find a seat. In a quiet corner, only the two of them were left standing face to face.
The boy teased with a half-smile, "Fang Zhi, even the smallest ant is still meat. Why don't you accept my friend request? It's 100 yuan."
"If you don't have cash, I don't want it." Fang Zhi pursed his lips, his eyelids slightly lowered, and spoke each word clearly, "And don't come looking for me again."
"Why?" Jiang Yu's dark eyes lost their smile and gradually sharpened as he stared intently at the girl in front of him. "Give me a reason."
The girl remained silent, her beautiful face more serene and delicate than ever before, her exquisite, moist eyes unable to meet his gaze.
He continued, "Weren't we doing fine at Liu Siyi's birthday party? What made you suddenly change your mind?"
"No reason." Fang Zhi shook his head, his voice very soft. "I just feel that what you're doing is bad for both of us, and I care a lot about what others think."
Jiang Yu's Adam's apple bobbed. "I don't believe a single word you've said."
If she cared about these things, she would have said so long ago; there was no need to wait until now to bring them up.
He looked down at her, as if he could see through the girl's slender and graceful figure to the rebellious side hidden beneath.
Some people's rebellion is not superficial or on the surface, but rather stems from a deep-seated difference in character.
His interactions with her over the past few days have shown him that this is indeed the case.
Beneath her gentle and obedient exterior lies a completely different, undiscovered side.
Jiang Yu wanted to ask if it was because of Qi Shen, but swallowed the words back. "Just because it has a bad influence? What if I said I could bother you without doing so in front of other people?"
Fang Zhi avoided his words, her expression calm to the point of indifference, her voice soft yet solemn, "Jiang, please move aside, I'm going to eat."
Jiang Yu shifted his body slightly, watching the girl's figure brush past him and gradually disappear into the distance.
Even the way he addressed Jiang Yuze changed back to "Jiang Tongxue" (Jiang classmate).
His intuition told him that Fang Zhi's sudden change of attitude was related to her brother, Qi Shen.
He didn't even need to think or guess that it was the man who saw him but deliberately kissed his sister.
