The car stopped at the villa's main gate. Secretary Zhou turned to look at Qi Shen and said, "Young Master, I'm going to a social engagement with Mayor Qi later, so I won't be able to come in with you."
"The matter of Miss Fang Zhi's enrollment will be completed by this Friday."
Qi Shen looked at the girl listening intently to their conversation, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes, but his face remained impassive. "Uncle Zhou, thank you for your trouble."
Secretary Zhou said politely, "You're too kind."
The car restarted and disappeared from sight, and Fang Zhi followed Qi Shen step by step into the magnificent courtyard.
Is this really home? Where will she live from now on?
The European-style courtyard is clean and tidy, with lawns and flowers on both sides that are well-maintained.
From the moment I entered the courtyard to step into this two-story villa, I was overwhelmed with a series of shocks.
She followed closely behind Qi Shen.
The girl's worn-out T-shirt, patched jeans, and opulent living room seemed out of place.
"Young man." A kind-faced middle-aged woman came out of the kitchen upon hearing the noise in the living room. "You're back."
"Yes." Qi Shen nodded. "Wang Ma, is the room ready?"
"Xiaojing is all ready." The middle-aged woman named Wang Ma looked at Fang Zhi with a smile. "This must be the girl you brought back. She's very pretty."
She was about to step forward and pat the girl's head.
The new environment, coupled with long-term abuse by his adoptive mother, caused Fang Zhi to develop a conditioned reflex when he saw women reaching out their hands.
She looked somewhat panicked and instinctively hid behind Qi Shen, causing Wang Ma's hand to freeze in mid-air.
Qi Shen was inexplicably pleased by her small gesture, and a smile involuntarily crept onto his lips.
Yes, that's how it should be.
He brought her back, and all she needs to do is rely on and trust him the most.
"Wang Ma," Qi Shen called to the woman and explained, "her name is Fang Zhi, and she's a little shy."
"Oh, oh." Aunt Wang quickly withdrew her hand.
Seeing the girl's thin, malnourished face, Wang Ma didn't feel offended; instead, she felt even more pity for the girl.
"Zhizhi, don't be afraid." Qi Shen looked down at her and comforted her. "From now on, this will be your home. Wang Ma will take care of our daily lives."
Qi Lian'an is busy with work and doesn't live at home most of the time; his villa is equipped with servants and a chef.
They also have a personal driver for everyday outings.
The house used to house the lady of the house and her brother, but now the lady of the house has gone to the other side of the ocean, leaving only the servants and him and her.
Fang Zhi peeked out and timidly greeted Wang Ma.
Aunt Wang looked at her kindly and said, "Hello, Miss Zhizhi."
After they finished exchanging pleasantries, Qi Shen naturally took the girl's hand and said, "I'll take you to see your bedroom."
Fang Zhi nodded slightly and followed Qi Shen's steps toward the second floor.
Wang Ma stood there, watching the slender, gentle-looking young man and the cautious girl's retreating figures, and sighed softly.
Well, it's good that there are more children in this big house, so it doesn't feel so lonely. At least the young master has someone to keep him company.
"Aunt Wang." Qi Shen suddenly turned around and said softly, "After you finish your work, could you please help Zhizhi take a bath?"
He only cleaned her hands and wounds by the stream.
Now that he's home, he still has to give his poor little pet a thorough cleaning.
Wang Ma, who was suddenly called upon, was taken aback for a moment, then replied, "Yes, young master."
-
The bedroom is off-white with a light-colored carpet. There are plush toys of different sizes piled up in the corner, and the view from the bay window on the balcony is excellent.
Fang Zhi stood at the door and looked at the dirty shoes. He hesitated to step in for a moment, afraid of soiling the bedroom.
"Zhizhi?" Qi Shen looked at the girl standing there in confusion. "Why aren't you coming in?"
"I'm afraid..." Fang Zhi's eyes were fixed on her toes, "...to get this place dirty..."
"It really is a frightened and pitiful fledgling," Qi Shen shook his head and chuckled softly.
He pulled her into the house. "Don't be afraid, this is your room. You can do whatever you want with Zhizhi."
"Really?"
"real."
The boy's words were like a reassuring injection, and only then did Fang Zhi dare to walk around the room, looking around and his eyes drifting to the bookshelf. "Brother, can I read all these books?"
Qi Shen followed her gaze to the bookshelf, and after seeing the titles of the books, he deliberately teased her, "I'm afraid we'll have to wait. Zhizhi knows these characters, but she doesn't."
"Ah..." The girl let her guard down in front of him, looking extremely dejected. "I understand, brother."
She never went to school, and her mother never specifically taught her anything. She only secretly learned a few words when her younger sister was studying.
Qi Shen's gaze swept over a spot she could easily see. "But it's alright, Zhizhi, if you want to listen to these books, you can come find your brother."
Unable to contain her excitement, Fang Zhi ran to Qi Shen, her childish voice brimming with joy, "Thank you, brother!"
Qi Shen smiled but remained silent.
There was a knock at the door, followed by the boy's "Come in," and the door was opened.
The person who came was Wang Ma, who was there to give Fang Zhi a bath.
The notification was too rushed; the room was tidied up, but there were no clothes in the entire villa suitable for a little girl.
Wang Ma asked, "Young Master, why don't I go and ask the other people in the villa if they have any clean T-shirts?"
"No need." Qi Shen's eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He has obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness, and she is his possession; how could she be tainted by someone else's scent?
Qi Shen said calmly, "You help her wash, I'll go get my clothes."
The boy's possessiveness was undisguised and completely exposed.
But he was too good at disguising himself; in his daily life, he gave people the impression of being gentle, excellent, and upright.
