"Yu Xi..." Jiang's mother then noticed that there were two other people following behind her son. "Yi Ming...you're here too."
The two younger relatives nodded politely to the middle-aged man and woman at the dining table, "Uncle, Aunt, good evening."
"Mom and Dad," Jiang Yu walked quickly to his parents, "I heard about the accident at home." He paused, his voice low and slightly muffled, "How...are you...?"
Jiang's mother was stunned upon hearing this. She hadn't expected the news to have reached her son, and for a moment she didn't know how to respond.
The problem is actually easy to solve, but the worst part is that no one in higher positions is speaking up for them, and they don't even know who they've offended.
“We’re fine, don’t worry about us.” Jiang’s father, who had been silent, looked up at his son, who was taller than him. “Since you’re planning to repeat a year, focus on your studies. Things at home are easy to handle. Your mother and I will take care of them. Go back to class tomorrow morning.”
“I don’t believe it,” Jiang Yu blurted out. “Dad, if things were really as easy to resolve as you say, Mom wouldn’t have looked so hesitant just now.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere around him became subtle.
Jiang's mother, Song Yuxi, and Zhou Yiming kept a close eye on the father and son, ready to mediate. One of them was stubborn, and the other was unruly; they were afraid that a disagreement would escalate into another fight.
Jiang's father was preoccupied with something, like a huge boulder pressing on his chest, and had no energy to deal with his son, whom he perceived as having an arrogant and unruly personality.
He waved his hand, somewhat weakly saying:
"What difference does it make whether you believe it or not?"
Seeing his father, whom he had always admired and respected, looking as if he had aged ten years and was completely helpless, Jiang Yu felt as if a thousand ants were tearing at his heart.
He clenched his fists, the veins on the back of his hands bulging, and his knuckles cracking slightly. He lowered his head and said, word by word, "Mom and Dad, I know who is investigating you."
After he finished speaking, everyone around him looked at him incredulously.
"Brother Jiang, what are you saying?"
"Brother Jiang, say less."
"Aze, stop fooling around."
"What did you say?" Ignoring the reactions of those around him, Jiang's father stood up from the stool and stared at him. "How do you know who it is?" Before Jiang Yu could speak, an absurd answer flashed through his mind.
The next second, Jiang Yu proved his guess, and the boy coldly uttered three words, "It's Qi Shen."
Facing the gazes of the crowd, he finally revealed the truth:
"Because he likes Fang Zhi, my pursuit of Fang Zhi upset him."
Jiang's father, utterly exhausted, slumped in his seat, muttering softly, "I should have guessed... I should have..." Caught between political and business machinations, he and his wife were both in trouble...
How many people can do that?
Unable to bear seeing his father like this, Jiang Yu's eyes reddened slightly. "Dad, I'll take responsibility for my own actions. I'll go find him now." He turned to walk out the door, but was stopped by Zhou Yiming and Song Yuxi behind him.
"Brother Jiang".
"Brother Jiang, calm down."
The restaurant was in complete chaos, punctuated by Jiang's father's furious roar, "Stop right there!"
Jiang Yuze froze, standing rooted to the spot.
Jiang's mother looked at her husband with concern while stepping forward to persuade her son, "Aze, listen to your father. Your father and I will find a way to resolve this matter."
The truth came out: this was a matter for the Jiang family. Jiang Yuze was a proud young man. Song Yuxi and Zhou Yiming comforted Jiang's mother and Jiang Yuze respectively before tactfully leaving.
Jiang's father took a deep look at his only son, who had been spoiled since childhood, and finally couldn't bear to scold him. He simply said, "I will handle this," and went back to his bedroom.
