Chapter 152 Who are you to me?

His deep eyes concealed an emotion that was difficult to detect.

Sang Yuwan's pupils contracted slightly, her heart tightened, and she looked away. "Speak."

Rong Zhi looked at her. A gentle smile played on his slightly upturned lips. His gaze gradually intensified, and the deep affection in his eyes was undisguised in the slightest.

"In your twilight years, you don't have to work so hard."

Sang Yuwan's heart pounded, her eyelashes trembled, and her fingers gently gripped the blanket. She remained silent for a few seconds before speaking softly, "Just say what you have to say."

Rong Zhi's dark eyes revealed a hint of affection. "I will take care of the child's matter."

Sang Yuwan's eyes flickered slightly. She looked up at him again and asked, "Rong Zhi, can I trust you?"

Rong Zhi's eyes were filled with tenderness and love. He smiled and asked her, "Why not?"

Sang Yuwan's heart tightened. Looking into his dark eyes, she asked him, "Why do you think that is?"

The air in the ward became very subtle, and the temperature seemed to have risen considerably.

Rong Zhi's brows furrowed, his eyes sparkling. "Because Bo Xingzhi schemed against you, you think all men are untrustworthy?"

Sang Yuwan's breath hitched.

He really understood her; he hit the nail on the head with just one sentence.

Sang Yuwan said, "This is just one of them."

Rong Zhi pursed his lips and said nothing more.

Some things are best left unsaid; saying them out loud can actually make things harder to get along with.

Sang Yuwan took her phone, glanced at the time, and her gaze darkened. "It's getting late, you should go."

Rong Zhi's smile grew even warmer. His eyes brimmed with emotion like a surging sea. "I'll stay with you tonight."

Sang Yuwan was shocked. She gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with anger. "Rong Zhi, my patience has its limits."

Rong Zhi reached out and tucked the blanket around her, his voice lowering slightly, "Chen Yilin has come to Jiangcheng."

Sang Yuwan's expression froze, her pupils contracted, and her brows furrowed. "Are you worried he'll come to the hospital to take revenge on me?"

The smile on Rong Zhi's face quickly faded, replaced by a cold expression. "I absolutely cannot allow anything to happen to you and the child."

"You haven't answered my question yet." Sang Yuwan's cold gaze fell on his face, her bright eyes filled with anger.

Rong Zhi said in a low voice, "His only purpose in coming to Jiangcheng is to deal with you."

"Why are you so sure?" Sang Yuwan stared at him intently, her lips pursed and her cheeks flushed.

Before Rong Zhi could speak, she added, "He told you?"

"I guessed." Rong Zhi pursed his thin lips, suppressing his emotions, and replied in a low voice.

"Heh." Sang Yuwan's lips curled into a cold smile. "If he wants revenge on me, let him try."

Rong Zhi frowned. "There's no need to take the risk."

Sang Yuwan's lips curled slightly, but her heart felt inexplicably heavy.

She and Shen Yilin had never interacted before, nor did they have any past conflicts. She didn't know why he was targeting her.

Could it be that Bo Xingzhi offended him before?

Rong Zhi's eyes were dark and deep. "Trust me, I will protect you and the child."

Sang Yuwan's heart skipped a beat, her heartbeat suddenly skipped half a beat, "I can protect myself even without you."

Rong Zhi's gaze darkened, and his thin lips pressed into a straight line.

Seeing that he seemed a little angry, Sang Yuwan unconsciously moved her knuckles, her eyes flickering between light and dark.

Outside the window. The sun is setting in the west.

The light inside the room gradually dimmed.

The two sat there, neither of them speaking.

In each other's vision, the other's features became soft and blurred, as if covered by a thin veil, neither completely bright nor completely dim.

Everything was immersed in a subtle, half-light, half-dark state.

Their eyes held a thousand unspoken words, yet neither of them uttered a sound.

Minglang knocked on the door and came in, and was startled by what he saw.

"Madam... Second Master..."

Rong Zhi didn't turn around, and said in a low voice, "Get out."

Minglang was taken aback and looked at Sang Yuwan on the hospital bed.

"Second Master and I have something to discuss. You may leave now," Sang Yuwan said coldly, her expression slightly stern.

"Yes." Minglang turned around nervously, walked out, and gently closed the door behind him.

Sang Yuwan raised her hand and turned on the window light.

Rong Zhi's face instantly came into focus.

"Rong Zhi, do you really have to do this?"

Rong Zhi remained calm, his voice low, "Do you really want our child to have a mysterious past like Bo Xingzhi?"

Sang Yuwan was startled, her face paled slightly, and her chest heaved slightly. "He is my child, and has nothing to do with you."

Rong Zhi smiled faintly, a slight, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips. "How could my child be unrelated to me?"

Sang Yuwan's breath hitched, and her heart nearly stopped. Her pretty face flushed crimson. "You..."

Rong Zhi got up and turned on all the other lights in the ward. "I'll go see if Aunt Qiu has finished making dinner."

Sang Yuwan took a deep breath, her tone cold, "You are more shameless than Bo Xingzhi."

Rong Zhi's back stiffened, his heart churning with emotion, his lips tightened, and he offered no explanation.

As Sang Yuwan watched his departing figure, her anger surged.

She picked up her phone and dialed Xiansi's number, "Come to the hospital."

Xian Si replied respectfully, "Yes, Madam."

As soon as Sang Yuwan hung up the phone, Minglang pushed open the door and came in.

"Madam, did the Second Master say he wants to change your hospital room?"

Sang Yuwan's heart skipped a beat, and a sense of foreboding suddenly arose within her.

Could it be that Shen Yilin really will come to the hospital to take revenge on her?

Seeing that she remained silent, Minglang grew increasingly uneasy. "Madam, why did you want to change rooms for no reason?"

Sang Yuwan frowned, her cheeks flushed with anger. "Listen to him."

Minglang paused for half a second, then lowered his head and said, "Yes."

Sang Yuwan then threw off the covers, got out of bed, and went outside.

They didn't take anything else from the ward.

Even the document in the drawer was left behind.

Sang Yuwan went to the next ward, and just as she sat down, Rong Zhi came in with a tray of food.

Aunt Qiu followed behind him, also carrying a tray.

Perhaps she was too angry, because Sang Yuwan channeled her anger into her appetite and didn't stop eating.

Rong Zhi frowned and suggested in a low voice, "You can eat less tonight, don't overeat."

Sang Yuwan ignored him and picked up a piece of beef, chewing it in small bites.

Seeing this, Rong Zhi had no choice but to forcibly remove the plates.

With a "smack," Sang Yuwan slammed her chopsticks down on the small round table, her suppressed anger flaring up.

"Rong Zhi, what exactly do you want to do?"

"I'm just worried about you. You've eaten too much and can't digest it," Rong Zhi said calmly.

Sang Yuwan frowned. "Who are you to me? You're so controlling, meddling in everything, even my meals."

Rong Zhi stood up, holding the tray in both hands. "Whatever you say I am, that's what I am."

After saying that, he left without looking back.

Sang Yuwan was so angry that she gritted her teeth.

When Xian Si entered, she was taken aback by the woman's angry expression. "Madam?"

Sang Yuwan bit her lip and took a deep breath. "Are you aware of Shen Yilin's movements?"

Xian Si replied, "He left Liuyuan in the afternoon and has since disappeared without a trace."

Sang Yuwan said coldly, "He's come to Jiangcheng."

Xian Si froze. "Madam, this?"

Sang Yuwan's face hardened, and her expression suddenly turned cold. "You will stay with Xinglan tonight."

Xian Si's expression tightened, and he nodded, "Yes."

Sang Yuwan added, "Also, regarding the textile factory project, conduct another background check. See if Rong Moyuan was involved."

Xiansi clenched her fingers. "Yes."

Sang Yuwan got up, walked to the window, and looked at the boundless night outside, her eyes growing colder and colder.
