"Mrs. Bo, I'm not joking."
The woman clung tightly to Rong Zhi's right leg, her eyes sharp and complex as she uttered those words in a low growl. After speaking, she pressed her lips together, silently awaiting Sang Yuwan's final decision.
The air around seemed to freeze because of the low growl, and even time slowed down.
Everyone held their breath.
Ming Zhan clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning slightly white from the force, and the veins were faintly visible, revealing his inner anxiety and unease.
"Wan'er, she's insane, you have to leave..."
Before he could finish speaking, Rong Zhi spoke slowly.
"Song Yulian, if you really want to die, I'll go with you."
The deep voice, each syllable seemingly frozen in frost, was heavy and slow. It seemed to contain the chill of a thousand years, involuntarily sending a chill down one's spine, as if the soul itself were frozen in that moment.
The woman's heart skipped a beat, and her throat stung terribly. "Mrs. Bo, do you really want him to die with me?"
Sang Yuwan put her hands in her coat pockets, her eyes calm and still, without the slightest fluctuation or panic. A faint smile even appeared on her lips.
"Release Rong Zhi, and I will grant your request."
"Wan'er," Ming Zhan frowned deeply, "she is Shen Yilin's mother. Be careful, it might be a trap."
Sang Yuwan's lips curled up slightly, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. "Don't worry. Nothing big will happen."
She paused, her expression hardening, and said to the woman, "Song Yulian, let's go."
The woman took two deep breaths and said with red eyes, "Mrs. Bo, you'd better not try anything funny."
Sang Yuwan sneered, "I'm not your son."
The sarcastic words, like a steel knife, pierced the woman's heart.
Her body trembled as she slowly released her hands.
The next second, Rong Zhi suddenly turned around and looked down at her with disdain.
"Song Yulian, let's go."
The woman used her hands to push herself up from the ground with difficulty.
Rong Zhi turned to Sang Yuwan again, "Madam, wait until we get in the carriage before you set off."
Sang Yu nodded late.
As the woman left, she gave Sang Yuwan a meaningful look.
Mingzhan was alarmed. "Wan'er, don't go."
Sang Yuwan's eyebrows were cool and aloof. "With Rong Zhi here, I will be fine."
Ming Zhan's fingers stiffened, and a complex expression flashed in his eyes.
Sang Yuwan watched the woman and Rong Zhi walk out of the mourning hall before she began to walk.
-
An hour later.
Two black Bentleys were parked in the parking lot of Wanhuashan Cemetery.
Sang Yuwan's parents are buried here.
Sunlight filtered weakly through the sparse clouds, making the already desolate world seem even more barren. Crows flew by, leaving behind a few mournful cries.
Song Yulian got out of the car and froze when she saw the scene before her.
Rong Zhi glanced back; Sang Yuwan's car was about to arrive.
His gaze darkened, and he said in a low voice, "Let's go."
Song Yulian's back was soaked with cold sweat, and her palms were pierced by her fingernails.
She followed Rong Zhi, climbing up step by step.
As you enter the cemetery, a path paved with bluestone winds its way forward, flanked by neatly trimmed pines and cypresses.
The higher you go, the more silent the cemetery becomes. The pale sunlight shines on each tombstone, gilding them with a golden glow.
Song Yulian guessed where Rong Zhi was going to take her. Her heart felt as if it had been squeezed tightly by a large hand, and then it suddenly plummeted downwards.
Cause and effect cycle.
She deserves to pay with her life.
Rong Zhi stopped in front of a couple's grave.
Song Yulian's breath hitched, and she stopped in her tracks.
She stared intently at the tombstone.
Her eyes were red and her vision was somewhat blurry.
The photo on the tombstone is not clear.
She took a deep breath and asked with a heavy heart, "Is this Shen Chongzhou and Lan Xin's grave?"
Rong Zhi said coldly, "Kneel down."
Song Yulian gasped, a chill running from her feet to the top of her head. Suppressing her fear, she managed to ask, "Where's Yilin?"
Sang Yuwan's voice came from behind her, "Shen Yilin is not here."
Song Yulian's breath hitched, her eyes widened, and her chest heaved violently. "You actually lied to me..."
Rong Zhi's eyes darkened. "Song Yulian, kneel down."
Song Yulian's shoulders trembled slightly, and a bitter smile appeared on her lips. "Yilin said that you are not ordinary people, and that I should be careful..."
Sang Yuwan walked to the tombstone, raised her hand, and gently wiped the photo on the tombstone.
"Dad, Mom, after investigating for so long, I've finally found the murderer who killed you."
Her breathing became heavy and choked, each breath accompanied by a sharp pain in her chest.
Song Yulian leaned forward slightly, as if she were bearing an unspeakable burden.
Sang Yuwan then said, "Song Yulian, why don't you kneel down before my parents?"
Rong Zhi then spoke up, "If you don't know how to kneel, I'll teach you."
Song Yulian suddenly burst out laughing, "How about we go to the underworld together, and you can watch me kneel down to them with your own eyes?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than Rong Zhi kicked her hard in the chest.
Almost simultaneously, he grabbed Sang Yuwan's wrist and slipped into the cypress thicket beside the tomb.
The unexpected kick sent Song Yulian rolling quite a distance.
boom--
The enormous explosion, like the most awe-inspiring symphony in nature, suddenly shattered the tranquil air.
The air seemed to be violently compressed, then suddenly surged, forming an invisible shockwave that spread rapidly in all directions. Accompanying it was a strong smell of gunpowder.
Rong Zhi covered Sang Yuwan's ears.
Several dark figures flashed past them.
After a long while, Rong Zhi slowly let go of her hand.
Sang Yuwan slowly turned her head and looked into the distance.
Thick smoke billowed out, and the air felt exceptionally oppressive.
"This is her own choice, she can't blame anyone else," Rong Zhi said softly, embracing her.
Sang Yuwan took a deep breath, a hint of confusion in her eyes. "She only said she poisoned my mother, but what about my father?"
Rong Zhi's gaze darkened slightly. "I believe the truth will soon come out."
Sang Yuwan's lips tightened, and she looked away. "Let's go back."
Rong Zhi helped her out of the cypress grove, then looked up at the suddenly darkening sky. His pupils contracted slightly. "I'd like to formally introduce myself to your parents."
Sang Yuwan paused for a moment, then said softly, "Today isn't a good day. Let's go."
After saying that, she turned to leave.
Rong Zhi grasped her wrist, a gentle light shining in his eyes. "Wanwan, when do you plan to introduce me to them?"
Sang Yuwan pursed her lips and said calmly, "No need for introductions, they already know you are the second master of the Bo family."
Rong Zhi's heart skipped a beat, but he smiled and said, "That's not my identity."
Sang Yuwan's heart raced, her emotions rippling slightly. After a few seconds of silence, she gently raised an eyebrow. "Master Rong?"
Rong Zhi's lips curved into a deeper smile. "Neither."
