"Ahhh!" Ning Xin'er's painful screams echoed throughout the hall.
Sang Yuwan bit her trembling lips, trying to suppress her emotions, "Rong Zhi, put me down."
Rong Zhi did not let go.
Sang Yuwan's eyes narrowed, and her tone turned colder, "Put me down!"
Rong Zhi stopped and slowly put her down.
Sang Yuwan took a deep breath, turned around, and looked at Ning Xin'er, who had collapsed on the stairs.
"Minglang, that's enough."
Minglang's face was filled with anger. He lowered his eyes and his chest heaved. "If you dare to lay a hand on Madam again, I'll cripple your hands."
Ning Xin'er's cheek was swollen high, and the bright red finger marks were quite horrifying.
Minglang deliberately only slapped her right cheek.
Ning Xin'er sat on the stairs, looked up, and glared at Minglang. Her emotions erupted, and she screamed hysterically, "Without any evidence, how dare you frame me like this?"
Minglang gritted his teeth and looked at the camera above the stairs. "Do you think these surveillance cameras are just for show?"
Ning Xin'er gritted her teeth and continued to argue, "It was my cousin-in-law who suddenly stopped, and I didn't notice, so I bumped into her."
Minglang was about to speak again when Sang Yuwan stopped him, "That's enough, Minglang."
Minglang snorted coldly and went downstairs.
Sang Yuwan looked at Ning Xin'er and said coldly, "Ning Xin'er, you know in your heart whether you pushed me or not. Consider these slaps as a warning to you."
She paused, then added, "Pack your things and go home."
Ning Xin'er's expression froze, and her features became somewhat ferocious.
Sang Yuwan then spoke to the head steward, "Find a servant to help her tidy up."
"Yes," the steward replied respectfully, bowing his head.
Sang Yuwan turned around with a cold face and whispered to Rong Zhi, "Second Master, I have something to discuss with you."
Rong Zhi pursed his lips and said, "Mm."
The two walked towards the door, one after the other.
Ning Xin'er watched their departing figures, her teeth grinding together. Her swollen face burned with pain, causing her to gasp.
-
Sang Yuwan arrived at the parking lot, and Minglang stepped forward and opened the back door.
"Second Master, where's your car?"
Rong Zhi said, "My assistant took my mother to the hospital."
Sang Yuwan remained calm, showing no surprise whatsoever. "Take my car and I'll talk to you about something."
Rong Zhi narrowed his eyes and lowered his voice, "Isn't Madam afraid of misunderstandings?"
Sang Yuwan's voice was cold. "Walk your own path and let others talk." After a pause, she added, "These are the words Bo Xingzhi once said."
At that time, she was quite moved when she heard these words, thinking that he was just encouraging her.
Looking back now, those words were clearly meant for himself.
To outsiders, his orientation was considered heretical and deviant.
Rong Zhi was silent for a few seconds before slowly asking, "What made you change your mind so quickly?"
Sang Yuwan did not answer, but bent down and got into the car.
Minglang gently closed the car door on her side.
Rong Zhi's lips twitched almost imperceptibly. He walked around the back of the car to the other side, opened the car door himself, and quickly got in.
Minglang then got into the car.
As the car drove away from the Bo family's old residence, Rong Zhi raised the partition inside the car.
What do you want from me?
Sang Yuwan tilted her head and stared at him intently. "Second Master, you've always been decisive in your actions. Why have you been dragging your feet on this matter concerning Bo Xingzhi?"
Rong Zhi's deep eyes were like a still pool. "Are you trying to say why I didn't give you his medical report from the beginning?"
Sang Yuwan frowned slightly, her pretty face turning icy. "Rong Zhi, you enjoy the feeling of manipulating people, don't you?"
Rong Zhi's heart sank, and his expression changed slightly. "I never intended to toy with you, nor have I ever done anything to toy with you."
Sang Yuwan withdrew her gaze and adjusted her posture. "Tell me, about Bo Xingzhi's background, do you want me to continue investigating, or will you just tell me directly?"
Rong Zhi took a thin blanket, unfolded it, and covered her with it. "If you want to investigate, I won't stop you."
Seeing that he had given his answer, Sang Yuwan smiled coldly, "The men of the Bo family are all incredibly cunning."
"I am not a member of the Bo family." Rong Zhi said each word clearly and coldly.
Sang Yuwan sneered, "The Rong family is even more terrifying."
Rong Zhi raised an eyebrow slightly. "Then I'll go change my surname?"
Sang Yuwan glanced at him sideways and said, "Even if you change your surname, you can't change the genes in your bones."
Rong Zhi's eyes darkened, and he gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Yes, even if I bleed myself dry, I will still be a member of the Rong family."
“You are you, and the Rong family is the Rong family,” Sang Yuwan said.
Rong Zhi's brow furrowed slightly. "Is this your honest opinion?"
Seeing this, Sang Yuwan took a deep breath and softened her tone, "Who saved me, Bo Yuanshan or Bo Xingzhi?"
Rong Zhi remained silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking, "Who do you hope it is?"
Sang Yuwan was taken aback.
The morning sun at ten o'clock shone through the car window.
Rong Zhi's profile was deep and cold. "They're all dead. Since they're gone, don't even think about repaying their kindness. Or, just pretend they never saved you."
Sang Yuwan's heart skipped a beat, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. "I'll ask you one last time, who saved me?"
Rong Zhi pursed his lips. "Is there a difference between Bo Yuanshan and Bo Xingzhi?"
Sang Yuwan's expression tightened, and the coldness on her face intensified. "Of course."
Seeing that the blanket draped over her legs was slipping down, Rong Zhi quickly reached out and pulled it up.
Seeing that he seemed hesitant to speak, Sang Yuwan grew somewhat annoyed. "Are you going to tell me or not?"
Rong Zhi's heart skipped a beat, and he lowered his eyelids slightly. "Tell me, what's the difference?"
Sang Yuwan said coldly, "If the person who saved me was Bo Xingzhi, then it means that everything Bo Yuanshan did to me was just to use me."
Rong Zhi's pupils contracted slightly, a sharp glint appearing in his eyes. "I told you, he's not a good person."
Sang Yuwan's heart sank heavily, instantly plummeting to the bottom. "The person who saved me, was it really Bo Xingzhi?"
Rong Zhi remained silent.
Seeing his silence, Sang Yuwan assumed she was right.
Her expression suddenly changed, and she could no longer control the emotions she had been suppressing.
The trust that had been placed in Bo Yuanshan for six years collapsed in an instant.
A chill ran down her spine, and her heart sank to the bone.
My heart pounded violently in my chest, trying to fight off the omnipresent cold with a little warmth, but that warmth seemed to be swallowed up in an instant.
Seeing her expression change, Rong Zhi's breathing became heavy. His complex eyes held an undisguised heartache.
“Bo Yuanshan did one thing right, which was to nurture you with his heart.”
“Heh…” Sang Yuwan’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “He trained me just to cover up Bo Xingzhi’s shame. To put it bluntly, I’m nothing more than a dog he’s trained.”
"I won't allow you to talk about yourself like that." Rong Zhi grasped her icy hands. His gaze, lowered, held a turbulent undercurrent.
