Mingzhan was stunned, his eyes filled with confusion and anger. After a few minutes, he finally spoke incredulously, "What did she do to my brother?"
Sang Yuwan's expression turned cold, and her tone became stern, "She wants the Begonia Garden."
"What?" Ming Zhan's breath hitched, his expression changed drastically, and a hint of anger appeared between his brows. "I'm going to find her right now."
Sang Yuwan reached out and grabbed his arm. "Second brother, it's not too late for her to come out after eldest brother comes out."
Ming Zhan's chest heaved twice, and he even bit his lip until it bled.
"Wanwan..." Lan Xiya's anxious voice reached their ears.
Sang Yuwan suddenly let go and turned around to look.
Lan Xiya walked hurriedly ahead, followed by Ming Yi and Ming Yu, who was in a wheelchair.
The last time the whole family appeared at the hospital together was when Mingzhan was injured.
When Sang Yuwan saw that Mingyu looked much older than before, her chest tightened and her eyes suddenly reddened.
The first time she saw him, she thought, was when she was three years old.
Back then, my parents were still alive.
Her mother hugged her and said gently, "Wanwan, this is Uncle Ming, your aunt's husband."
She looked at the tall and imposing Mingyu, feeling his imposing presence, and leaned on her mother's shoulder without saying a word.
When she was six years old, she saw him again and was still somewhat afraid of him.
During the years she lived in the Ming family, she discovered that he was just serious and had a good personality.
He had no daughter, so he raised her as if she were his own.
Even after her eighteenth birthday, they secretly began preparing a dowry for her.
That's why he was furious when he saw her with Mingzhan.
Sang Yuwan forced herself to remain calm and quickly went to greet him, "Uncle Ming..."
Mingyu, in his wheelchair, rested his hands on the armrests, his face pale and his voice hoarse, "How is your older brother?"
Sang Yuwan glanced at Ming Zhan, who replied softly, "The doctor said the situation is quite serious."
Upon hearing this, Lan Xiya swallowed nervously and grabbed Sang Yuwan's arm, "Wanwan, this..."
"Auntie, please sit down first," Sang Yuwan said softly, trying her best to remain calm.
Lan Xiya turned to look at Ming Yu, opened her mouth, frowned deeply, and silently walked to the family waiting area to sit down.
Outside the operating room, the light was bright, casting flickering shadows on everyone's faces, and a layer of mottled darkness enveloped them.
Ming Zhan looked at Sang Yuwan and regretted telling her to come over.
At that time, the doctor issued a critical condition notice for Mingxiao, and all he could think about was calling everyone over to see Mingxiao one last time. He didn't have time to think about anything else.
Ming Zhan pursed his lips and said to Sang Yuwan, "Wan'er, go and keep Aunt Lan company."
Sang Yuwan knew he was worried about her; the baby in her womb was less than three months old and required extra care. She smiled slightly and said softly, "Okay."
"Wanwan, come, sit down too." Lan Xiya moved aside when she saw her coming over.
Time ticked by, and everyone felt as if a huge rock was pressing down on their hearts.
Lan Xiya was restless. After hesitating for a long time, she leaned close to Sang Yuwan's ear and lowered her voice, "Wanwan, Mingxiao suddenly fell seriously ill. Could it be that he heard something?"
Sang Yuwan's lips were taut, and she remained silent.
Seeing her silence, Lan Xiya's mood grew even heavier. "I saw him the day before yesterday, and he seemed to be in better spirits than before. How could he suddenly..." She paused, then added, "Besides this, I really can't think of any other reason?"
Sang Yuwan took a deep breath. "Second brother will investigate this matter thoroughly."
Lan Xiya frowned deeply. "The Ming family's children are all quite good. How come there's only one like the fourth one..."
"Auntie." Seeing that she was getting emotional, Sang Yuwan quickly interrupted her.
Lan Xiya suddenly stopped talking and hurriedly glanced at Ming Yu.
Mingyu, in his wheelchair, had his back to them, with Mingyi standing behind him. They seemed not to hear him.
Lan Xiya felt like she was sitting on pins and needles, constantly glancing towards the entrance of the operating room.
The red text still reads: "Operation in progress."
Compared to her, Mingyu, as her father, appeared much calmer.
He lifted his eyelids and asked Mingzhan, "Did you bring the boss to this hospital?"
Ming Zhan's voice was hoarse. "It was a servant from Haitang Garden who called for emergency help." He added at the end, "I wasn't there at the time."
Mingyu's gaze darkened slightly, like the darkness before dawn, thick and heavy, revealing a deep, cold, and desolate feeling that had seen it all.
After a few seconds of silence, he asked again, "What did the servants say?"
Mingzhan replied, "He doesn't know."
A cold glint flashed in Ming Yu's eyes. "Where is he?"
Mingzhan was somewhat uneasy. "I sent him back."
Ming Yu said coldly, "This person doesn't need to be kept alive."
Ming Zhan was taken aback.
Just as he was about to speak again, the red lettering above the operating room door suddenly went out, and green lettering popped up.
The surgery is over.
"Dad. It's over." Mingyi, who had been silent all along, suddenly brightened up and exclaimed in surprise.
Sang Yuwan and Lan Xiya hurriedly got up and walked quickly to the operating room door.
The operating room doors slowly opened, and the doctor came out.
"Doctor, how is my older brother?" Mingzhan asked anxiously.
"Second Young Master." The doctor greeted Ming Yu respectfully again. "Mr. Ming, the eldest young master's condition is not optimistic. You should be prepared."
Upon hearing this, Sang Yuwan felt a chill run down her spine.
Lan Xiya clenched her fingers nervously, wanting to speak, but when she caught Ming Yu's gaze, she quickly swallowed back the words that were about to come out.
Mingyi exclaimed in disbelief, "How is this possible? Doctor, are you sure you're not mistaken?"
Mingyu's hand, resting on the armrest of his wheelchair, had prominent veins and white veins in his fingers.
Mingzhan took two deep breaths and forced himself to remain calm, saying, "Doctor, please think of another way."
The doctor's expression was grave. "Second Young Master, the Eldest Young Master's health was already at its limit. I told him that a few years ago."
Everyone was simultaneously shocked.
Lan Xiya couldn't control her emotions and started wiping away tears.
Sang Yuwan's eyes also reddened.
Mingyi heaved his chest. "Second brother, just because this hospital isn't working doesn't mean other hospitals aren't. You need to transfer our eldest brother to another hospital immediately, either in Beijing or abroad."
Mingyu frowned deeply and said in a low voice, "Shut up."
Mingyi blinked her eyelashes and bit her lip.
With red eyes, Mingzhan asked the doctor, "Is there really no hope at all?"
The doctor said, "It could take three months at most, or as little as the next couple of days."
Lan Xiya swayed, and everything went black. Ming Zhan reacted quickly, rushing forward to catch her.
"Yi Yi, help Aunt Lan downstairs."
Ming nodded and said in a low voice, "Yes."
A few minutes after they left, Mingxiao was pushed out.
Mingzhan immediately stepped forward, lowered his eyes, suppressed the sorrow in his heart, and spoke softly, "Big brother..."
Sang Yuwan also walked over, "Big Brother."
Mingyu looked at Mingxiao on the surgical trolley; his face grew increasingly pale, and his hair turned even whiter.
Mingxiao, who had just woken up, struggled to open his eyelids, which felt as if they were glued together, and managed a weak smile. He wanted to respond, but he had no strength to utter a sound.
Seeing this, the doctor said again, "Second Young Master, let's talk in the ward."
Ming Zhan nodded. "Okay."
He walked ahead following the surgical trolley, while Sang Yuwan pushed Mingyu behind.
As they approached the entrance to the intensive care unit, Mingyu suddenly spoke up, "Is Mingmei your person now?"
