Su Niannian replied weakly, "Would you believe me if I said it was all a misunderstanding?"
Si Lijue glanced at her sideways, drawing out the last syllable of his voice, and instead of answering, asked, "What do you think?"
Su Niannian: "......"
She was telling the truth; she really had no desire to have a crush on him now.
Her crush on him started five years ago. After five years of life's trials, the passion of her youth had long since faded, and her love for him had been worn away, leaving very little.
She initially wanted to explain, but seeing his expression that said, "Don't bother explaining, you're just after my looks," she gave up and didn't bother.
Si Lijue stood up from the ground, dusted off non-existent dust from his clothes, looked down at the figure on the ground, and said smugly, "Give up on that idea as soon as possible. There's no future for us."
Of course she knew there was no possibility between them.
If it were possible, she wouldn't have waited so many years, much less avoided him for five years.
Even her marriage of convenience with him was only done out of respect for Xi Bao, allowing her to be his wife in name only.
A year later, she will keep her promise and divorce him, leave the Si family, and never have anything to do with him again.
But thinking about it, it's worth it to exchange a year of marriage for his forgiveness and for him to stop hunting her down, so she can live freely in China.
It's tough on her daughter, Xibao, who might have to call another woman "Mom" in the future.
Thinking of this, Su Niannian felt suffocated, inexplicably sad, and wanted to cry.
Si Lijue saw her eyes redden so easily, as if he realized that he had really gone too far.
After all, this woman had loved him deeply for so many years, and she was willing to risk her life to give birth to Xibao, just to leave behind the fruit of their love.
It's understandable that she would be saddened and upset if he suddenly rejected her.
It seems that getting her to give up the idea of no longer loving him will have to be done gradually, and we can't rush it.
After Si Lijue figured it out, he changed the subject, "Have you not eaten yet today? Let's go!" With that, he strolled out with leisurely steps.
"Where to?" Su Niannian was completely confused.
Si Lijue stopped, turned around, and glanced at her with his eyelids lifted: "Let's go eat. Do you still want to go on a date with me?"
Su Niannian was puzzled. "I didn't."
As I was talking, my stomach started growling again, perhaps because it heard the word "eat" and became aware of it.
Si Lijue looked at her slightly flushed cheeks, even her earlobes were tinged with red, his eyes burned for a moment, then he immediately looked away.
He didn't bother with any more nonsense, turned around and continued walking out. When he reached the door, he saw that Su Niannian hadn't caught up yet, and said casually, "Aren't you coming?"
He seriously doubted this woman's intelligence; how was she going to help Xibao with her homework in the future?
Su Niannian rubbed her rumbling stomach and followed after him.
She sat in the passenger seat, while Si Lijue drove. The two remained silent throughout the journey.
To avoid suspicion, she even turned her head to look out the car window and gazed at the night view the whole way.
Si Lijue kept glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. Seeing that she didn't talk to him or look at him, he muttered to himself with dissatisfaction, "Pretending! Let's see how long you can keep up this act."
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a very upscale Chinese restaurant.
Su Niannian looked up at the shop sign: Siyan Restaurant.
Could this be a property owned by the Si family?
They were just having a meal. Why would he drive half an hour just to eat at his place?
Is there really a need to flaunt wealth like this?
Isn't it obvious? He just wants to show off in front of her, a poor loser?
Si Lijue is such a scoundrel. He pulled this whole stunt just to prove the gap between himself and her, so she would stop having any designs on him.
She had clearly given up on him and truly dared not and did not want to love him again, so why didn't he believe her?
Su Niannian thought of a hundred clever ideas for why Si Lijue had brought her to this place for dinner.
At the same time, I couldn't help but criticize him a hundred times.
If it weren't for the fact that Si Lili was her best friend and Xi Bao was his legal son, she would have cursed his ancestors for eighteen generations.
Just as she was lost in her reverie, the car door slammed shut, making her head throb with pain.
Before she could react, "click~" sounded again as Si Lijue opened the passenger door.
Su Niannian mechanically looked out of the car and saw the tall man in front of her, who was 1.86 meters tall and completely blocked out the light, standing there in the doorway.
Her heart skipped a beat, and an invisible pressure shot straight to the top of her head; she was in immediate danger.
Si Lijue's captivating peach blossom eyes were staring straight at her, and sparks flew the moment their eyes met.
After a few seconds of eye contact, he said calmly, "What are you standing there for? You don't think staring at me will fill your stomach, do you?"
Su Niannian sighed and said helplessly, "I was waiting for you to move aside!"
"Do I have to ask you to get off? You've got quite the airs." Si Lijue said with a smile, his words unpleasant, but his actions were polite and gentlemanly.
He stepped aside, placed his left hand in front of his abdomen, and extended his right hand in a standard gesture of invitation, saying, "Your Highness, please alight from the carriage."
"..." Su Niannian unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car, asking nervously, "Where are we going?"
"Drink porridge."
After Si Lijue finished speaking, he took the lead and walked ahead, with Su Niannian following cautiously behind him.
The moment the two stepped into the store, they saw two rows of waiters standing neatly in line, all looking towards the entrance and shouting to them, "Welcome Mr. Si and his wife!"
A man dressed as a manager in a suit jogged over, bowed slightly, and gestured for them to enter, respectfully greeting them: "Mr. Si, this way please, you and your wife."
Si Lijue asked in a deep voice, "Is the porridge I asked you to make ready?"
"Everything has been cooked as you instructed, and it's keeping warm on the stove, just waiting for you to enjoy it, Madam!" the manager replied with a fawning smile.
"Hmm!" Si Lijue uttered a single note and walked straight into the shop.
Seeing such a large-scale mobilization, Su Niannian hesitated.
She originally thought that Si Lijue would just find a place to fill her stomach, but she didn't expect him to make such a grand gesture.
Looking at these hardworking laborers, she couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt towards them.
If she hadn't come to eat on an empty stomach, all of them would probably have already gone home by now.
Si Lijue took a few steps and saw Su Niannian standing at the door, not following him. He turned around, reached out to her, and said softly, "Come here!" His tone was gentle and doting.
Su Niannian didn't actually want to eat, but she didn't dare to offend him, so she reluctantly followed him.
Si Lijue held out his hand, his eyes fixed on her, showing no intention of withdrawing it.
Seeing that the manager and waiters were staring at them, Su Niannian pursed her lips, steeled her resolve, and placed her hand in Si Lijue's large palm.
"Madam is just easily embarrassed." Si Lijue couldn't hide the smile on his lips as he pulled Su Niannian toward the private room.
