Chapter 70 Rejected

“You…” Su Niannian knew he meant what he said, so to avoid making herself too embarrassed, she took a deep breath and tried to negotiate with him, “Then let me go in and tidy up first, and then you can go in, okay?”

"What if I say no?" Si Lijue wanted to tease her, looking at her intently, waiting for her reaction.

Actually, he didn't even need to go inside; he already guessed that what Su Niannian didn't want him to see must be related to him. Otherwise, Su Niannian wouldn't be so concerned and nervous.

What could she do if he disagreed? She could only let him force his way in.

However, Su Niannian was extremely unwilling for him to do this, because it would be a great humiliation and hurt to her.

This is no longer just a simple matter of taking him into her room; it involves the most vulnerable and sensitive part of her heart, the last bit of dignity she held onto after her stubbornness.

She said urgently, "Mr. Si, please, I'm begging you!"

"No, Mom asked me to go into your room to find out your usual preferences and to strengthen our relationship. I can't let her down."

Si Lijue seemed to disregard her feelings and continued to do as he pleased.

He glanced at the layout of the second floor. There were four rooms in total: two rooms opposite the door on the far right, one room near the stairwell, and one room on the far left.

Downstairs, in addition to the kitchen, dining room, and living room, there are two other rooms.

Based on the current population of the Su family, the uncle lives on the first floor, while Su's father, mother, and Niannian should live on the second floor. Therefore, Niannian's room is most likely the leftmost room.

Because that's the only quiet place, suitable for a young woman to live there.

After figuring things out, Si Lijue smiled faintly and walked towards the leftmost room.

He went to the leftmost room, put his large hand on the doorknob, and was about to turn the doorknob when Su Niannian ran over to stop him.

At this moment, Su Niannian was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, her eyes were red and tears were welling up in her eyes, as if they would burst into tears at any moment.

She reached out and grabbed Si Lijue's arm, biting her lip tightly, looking pitifully at the man in front of her, "No, Brother Si, don't go in. Let me go in first and tidy up a bit, please..." Her tone was full of pleading.

Si Lijue's deep eyes were fixed on the woman in front of him. When he saw her tearful and pitiful appearance, his heart softened involuntarily.

It was as if an invisible force was pulling at his heartstrings, making it impossible for him to remain indifferent and heartless towards her.

He frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, then released the doorknob and said softly, "I'll give you two minutes to pack, that should be enough, right?"

"That's enough, thank you!"

Su Niannian glanced at him gratefully, then reached out and pushed the door open a crack, just big enough for her to slip inside.

She couldn't wait to slip inside, closing the door behind her and keeping Si Lijue out.

Si Lijue leaned lazily against the door frame, looking relaxed and casual, his head down as he watched the hour hand on his watch tick by.

After two minutes had passed, he decisively reached out and knocked on the door, his deep, magnetic voice saying, "Open the door, it's time."

"Wait...wait a minute, it'll be ready soon." Su Niannian's anxious voice came from the room, mixed with the sound of something falling to the floor.

Hearing the sounds of objects hitting the floor coming from inside the room, Si Lijue's eyes flashed with worry. "Are you alright? Open the door quickly."

"It's okay, just wait for me for one more minute, just one minute."

Su Niannian watched the door warily, afraid that Si Lijue would suddenly barge in. Without stopping, she threw all the items on the table onto the bed.

Then, he tore the photos off the wall one by one and threw them all onto the bed.

Because she had so many photos in her room, she would often accidentally drop framed photos on the floor when she went to get them, making a series of noises.

Si Lijue heard the noise in the room getting louder and louder, and the person inside showed no intention of opening it. He reached out and grabbed the doorknob and turned it a few times, only to find that the door was locked from the inside.

He shouted in a stern yet tense tone, "Niannian, you must be honest. You promised two minutes, no more. Open the door now."

...There was no answer from the person inside the room, only the sounds of "thump" and "bang" rang out.

Si Lijue's patience ran out, and he gave the person in the room an ultimatum, "Su Niannian, you've exceeded one minute. If you don't open the door, I'll break it down."

Seeing that the door was still closed, he took a step back and raised his right foot to kick the door open from the inside.

Seeing his attack stance, Su Niannian feigned ignorance and asked, "What are you doing?"

Si Lijue glared at her, put his right foot down, and sneered, "Hmph! You really are as untrustworthy as ever, you don't keep your word. I shouldn't have trusted you."

He looked at Su Niannian with a mournful expression, as if he had been hurt, and kept complaining.

Feeling guilty, Su Niannian lowered her head, not daring to look the man in the eye, and stubbornly argued, "Brother Si, you're joking. I've been keeping an eye on the time, and I haven't exceeded the time limit at all."

“It took a full 215 seconds from the time you went in to the time it took to open the door, and you still say you didn’t exceed the time limit? You should be punished!” Si Lijue put his watch right under Su Niannian’s eyes and retorted irritably.

Before Su Niannian could speak, he continued to correct her: "I'll reiterate, from now on, don't call me President Si, and definitely don't call me Brother Si. Either call me by my name or call me husband."

Actually, he preferred Su Niannian to call him husband, but this woman just wouldn't.

Su Niannian looked at the timer on his wristwatch, which really showed 215 seconds. She shrank her neck and said, "Your timer is inaccurate. Either the watch is broken, or you deliberately pressed the button late. Anyway, I opened the door at 175 seconds."

She felt that if she stubbornly refused to admit it, Si Lijue wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

"That's just sophistry!" Si Lijue was too lazy to argue with her. He strode into the room, his sharp eyes scanning the room before finally settling on the large mound on the bed.

He didn't immediately go to the bedside to check, but instead quietly walked around the room, staring at Su Niannian's face with interest, and asked knowingly, "Wife, why are there so many thumbtacks on the walls of your room?"

“Uh…” Su Niannian hesitated for a moment, her eyes flickering as she looked at the wall in front of her, which was covered with thumbtacks. She secretly groaned in her heart.

She couldn't possibly let Si Lijue know that all those thumbtacks were actually nailed up specifically to hang his photo!

Then, she had a sudden inspiration, forced a smile, and made up an excuse: "Actually, I've always liked this decorating style."

Look at all these nails on the wall, aren't they unique?
