Chapter 112 Romantic Date

Shen Qingchen had been planning this date for a long time. Knowing Jiang Zhi's preferences, he carefully selected a tranquil, upscale restaurant on the edge of the city. Surrounded by lush greenery and a tranquil lake, its waters shimmered silvery in the moonlight. The interior was exquisitely decorated, and the flickering candlelight created a dreamlike, romantic atmosphere.

Shen Qingchen arrived at the restaurant early and checked every detail again. A bouquet of gorgeous red roses was placed on the table, and next to it was a carefully prepared gift wrapped in an exquisite gift box. He also specially asked the chef to prepare Jiang Zhi's favorite dishes. Each dish was decided after repeated discussions between him and the chef.

Jiang Zhi hesitated when she received the date invitation. Standing in her humble abode, she gazed at herself in the mirror. Her eyes held a resolute, yet faintly melancholic expression. She knew her path to revenge was long, each step fraught with unknown danger. However, Shen Qingchen's companionship and devotion during this time stirred ripples in her heart. Ultimately, she agreed to the date, perhaps to offer a temporary reprieve from her hatred, or perhaps because deep down, she longed for Shen Qingchen's warmth.

When Jiang Zhi appeared at the door of the restaurant, Shen Qingchen's eyes lit up instantly. She was wearing a simple yet elegant white dress, the cut of which perfectly outlined her graceful figure. Her hair was casually draped over her shoulders, with a few strands falling on her face, adding a charming charm. Shen Qingchen walked forward quickly, reached out and gently took Jiang Zhi's hand, leading her to the table.

After the two sat down face to face, Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi tenderly, his eyes full of affection. He broke the silence first: "Jiang Zhi, you are really beautiful today." Jiang Zhi lowered her head slightly, a blush on her cheeks, and said softly: "Thank you." Shen Qingchen gently picked up the red wine on the table and slowly poured it into two crystal clear wine glasses. In the candlelight, the red wine was like a flowing ruby.

He raised his glass, looked into Jiang Zhi's eyes and said, "Jiang Zhi, this glass of wine is for you. To your strength, to your kindness, and to this wonderful fate between us." Jiang Zhi raised her head, looked at him, then raised her glass, gently touched Shen Qingchen's glass, and took a sip of red wine. The mellow taste of the red wine spread in her mouth, and she could feel the thought Shen Qingchen had put into this date.

The first dish was brought up by the waiter. It was an exquisite French foie gras. The foie gras was fried to perfection, with a golden and crispy skin and a tender and juicy interior. It was served with fresh fruit and a special sauce. Shen Qingchen introduced it in a gentle voice: "This is the chef's specialty. I remember you said you like foie gras, so I asked them to prepare it specially." Jiang Zhi's heart warmed. She looked at the dish in front of her and said: "You are very attentive."

During the meal, Shen Qingchen began to recount some anecdotes from his childhood. He recounted how he'd been mischievous as a child, chasing butterflies in the family garden until he accidentally fell into the pond, causing panic in the family. Jiang Zhi couldn't help but laugh at his story. She discovered that beneath Shen Qingchen's cold exterior, he actually had a heart full of childlike innocence.

Jiang Zhi gradually let down her guard and began to share some of her experiences in rural foster care. She described how she ran and played in the fields with her fellow villagers, and how she helped the villagers with simple ailments. Shen Qingchen listened quietly, moved by Jiang Zhi's kindness and simplicity. He imagined the little Jiang Zhi growing up in the rural land, and his heart was filled with pity.

As the dinner progressed, the atmosphere became increasingly warm. Shen Qingchen pulled a delicate little box from his pocket and gently placed it in front of Jiang Zhi. Jiang Zhi looked at him suspiciously. Shen Qingchen smiled and said, "This is a small gift I prepared for you. I hope you like it." Jiang Zhi carefully opened the box, revealing an exquisite necklace. The pendant was a dazzling diamond, surrounded by tiny diamonds, which sparkled brightly in the candlelight.

Shen Qingchen stood up, walked to Jiang Zhi, picked up the necklace and said, "I want to wear it for you." Jiang Zhi nodded slightly, and Shen Qingchen gently put the necklace on her neck. His fingers inadvertently touched Jiang Zhi's skin, making Jiang Zhi's heartbeat involuntarily speed up. After putting on the necklace, Shen Qingchen returned to his seat, looked at Jiang Zhi and said, "This necklace is like you, unique and shining with charming light."

Jiang Zhi gently stroked the necklace with her hand, feeling mixed emotions. She had never thought that she would accept such an affectionate gift from a man at such a moment. She knew that this necklace was not just a gift, but also an expression of Shen Qingchen's deep love for her.

As dinner drew to a close, Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi, his eyes filled with genuine love. He slowly said, "Jiang Zhi, since the first time I saw you, my heart has been occupied by you. Every look and every movement of yours are deeply engraved in my heart. I know you have hatred and pain in your heart, but I want to tell you that I am willing to accompany you through it all. Whether it is the difficult road of revenge or any difficulties you may encounter in the future, I want to stand by your side and be your support."

Jiang Zhi listened to his words, and the defense line in her heart was hit again. There was a flicker of emotion and hesitation in her eyes. She knew that Shen Qingchen's words were so sincere and his love was so strong. But the hatred in her heart and her obsession with revenge made her dare not take this step easily. She was silent for a moment, then said: "Shen Qingchen, you know my situation is complicated. I can't guarantee that I can devote myself to this relationship wholeheartedly like an ordinary girl. There are still many things in my heart that need to be done, and I can't let my hatred affect you."
