The moment Shen Qingchen was stabbed by Jiang Yao, the world seemed to freeze. Jiang Zhi watched him fall, her mind blank, and then she was overwhelmed by endless anger and sadness. Her heart felt like it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and the pain was so severe that she could hardly breathe.
"Chen Qingchen!" Jiang Zhi shouted his name, with unprecedented fear in his voice.
She quickly squatted down, her trembling hands trying to cover his bleeding wound, but the blood oozed out from between her fingers like an unstoppable spring. Her tears burst out, falling drop by drop on Shen Qingchen's face.
"You'll be fine. You'll be fine."
Jiang Zhi kept repeating this sentence, as if to comfort Shen Qingchen, and as if to cheer herself up.
She frantically took out her cell phone from her pocket, her fingers trembling with nervousness, and she pressed the wrong numbers several times.
After finally dialing the emergency number, she cried, "Help, someone's injured here, stabbed, bleeding a lot..."
While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, every second felt like a century. Jiang Zhi held Shen Qingchen's hand tightly, feeling his body temperature disappearing bit by bit.
Her mind kept flashing through every little detail of her time with Shen Qingchen, from their first encounter in the cafe, to his passionate pursuit, to the sweetness and hardships they experienced together.
She could never accept that the man lying in her arms would suddenly leave her.
"Chen Qingchen, you have to hold on. You said you would accompany me to find clues to Tang Junxi's murder. You said you would face all difficulties with me. You can't go back on your word." Jiang Zhi said with a sob.
She looked at Shen Qingchen's closed eyes and pale face, her heart filled with self-blame. If she had been more careful, if she had discovered Jiang Yao's madness earlier, perhaps this would not have happened.
Finally, the sound of an ambulance came from afar, like a ray of light in the darkness. A glimmer of hope ignited in Jiang Zhi's heart, and she shouted loudly, asking the emergency personnel to find them faster.
The emergency personnel arrived at the scene quickly. They skillfully checked Shen Qingchen's injuries and then carefully lifted him onto a stretcher.
Jiang Zhi followed and got on the ambulance. She held Shen Qingchen's hand tightly along the way, her eyes never leaving his face. The ambulance sped on the road, and the sirens pierced the sky. The emergency personnel in the car carried out various first aid measures nervously and orderly, their expressions serious and solemn.
After arriving at the hospital, Shen Qingchen was wheeled straight into the operating room. Jiang Zhi stood at the door, staring at the tightly closed door, feeling as if she had been abandoned by the world. Her body seemed to have lost its support, and she slowly slid down to the floor, leaning against the wall. Her eyes were empty and helpless, her heart filled with worry and prayer.
She kept repeating in her heart: "Chen Qingchen, you must be safe. You are such a strong person, you will definitely be able to get through this." People came and went around, and the hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant. All this made Jiang Zhi feel extremely depressed.
Time ticked by, and Jiang Zhi didn't know how long she'd been waiting outside the operating room. Every minute of waiting was torture, her heart filled with fear and anxiety. She thought of how good Shen Qingchen had been to her, the flowers he'd sent her every day, the affectionate cards, the loving letters. Everything he'd done for her played in her mind like a movie.
"Chen Qingchen, you are the most important person in my life. You can't leave me. I don't know what to do without you." Jiang Zhi said silently in her heart. Her tears had dried up, and now only endless fatigue and deep worry remained.
Suddenly, the door to the operating room opened and a doctor walked out. Jiang Zhi stood up suddenly from the ground as if she had been electrocuted and rushed over. She grabbed the doctor's arm tightly and asked in a trembling voice: "Doctor, how is he? Is he okay?"
The doctor looked at Jiang Zhi, his eyes showing a hint of fatigue but also a hint of relief. He said, "The operation was successful, and the patient is out of danger. However, he still needs to rest well, after all, his injuries are quite serious."
Hearing this news, Jiang Zhi felt relieved. Her legs softened and she almost fell again. The doctor supported her and said, "Don't worry too much. He needs to rest now. You can go to the ward and wait for him."
Jiang Zhi thanked the doctor gratefully, and then followed the nurse to Shen Qingchen's ward. Looking at Shen Qingchen lying on the bed, his face was still pale, but his breathing had become much more stable. Jiang Zhi walked gently to the bedside, sat on the chair, and looked at him quietly.
Her heart was filled with joy and emotion. This man had blocked the knife for her without hesitation, and he had used his own life to protect her. Jiang Zhi knew that from this moment on, her life was closely linked to his, and could never be separated.
She gently held Shen Qingchen's hand, put it against her face, and felt his warmth. "Shen Qingchen, do you know? When I saw you fall to the ground, I felt like my world was about to collapse. I have never been so afraid of losing someone. You must get better soon. We still have a lot to do. We must find the truth about Tang Junxi's murder together, we must build a happy family together, and we must spend every spring, summer, autumn and winter together."
Jiang Zhi just sat by the bed, guarding Shen Qingchen all the time. Her eyes were full of love and tenderness. She knew that there might be many difficulties and challenges in the future, but as long as the two of them were together, there was nothing that could not be overcome.
