Shen Qingchen also supported Jiang Zhi's decision. He knew that Jiang Zhi was a kind woman and her decision was the right one. He believed that Jiang Yao was truly determined to change after her reformation in prison.
On that sunny afternoon, Jiang Zhi told Shen Qingchen about Jiang Yao's efforts to reform in prison and the great changes in her mentality. Shen Qingchen listened quietly, his eyes always fixed on Jiang Zhi's face, watching her expression full of hope and kindness. After Jiang Zhi finished speaking, she looked at Shen Qingchen with some concern. After all, Jiang Yao had done so many things that hurt them. She asked Shen Qingchen softly: "Do you think I'm a little too naive to do this? Jiang Yao used to do whatever it took to destroy us."
Shen Qingchen gently held Jiang Zhi's hand. His palm was warm and strong, as if it could give Jiang Zhi endless strength. He said, "Zhizhi, I understand you. Your kindness is your nature. And I don't think you are naive. People change. If Jiang Yao can truly recognize her mistakes, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to give her a chance."
Shen Qingchen recalled Jiang Yao's past actions. She had been like a demon blinded by jealousy, always secretly plotting to destroy his and Jiang Zhi's relationship. She spread rumors, created misunderstandings, and even risked harm to frame Jiang Zhi. In those days, their lives had been shattered by Jiang Yao. But now, hearing that Jiang Yao had changed in prison, Shen Qingchen felt a subtle shift in his heart.
He continued to say to Jiang Zhi: "You know, Zhizhi? Actually, I have been thinking about the issue of human nature. We live in this world and everyone makes mistakes. Some people make mistakes and keep making them, while some people are able to wake up from their mistakes. If Jiang Yao is the latter, then our tolerance is a kind of redemption for her." Shen Qingchen's eyes became deep. He seemed to see Jiang Yao in prison, reflecting on his past alone and firmly.
Jiang Zhi leaned on Shen Qingchen's shoulder, feeling incredibly relieved. She said, "Qingchen, I just feel that if we don't give her this chance, she might really have no hope. Also, I don't want the hatred between us to continue. If we can resolve this hatred, maybe our lives will be better."
Shen Qingchen nodded in agreement: "You are right, childish. Hatred will only distort the human heart, while tolerance can free the soul. If we continue to hold grudges against Jiang Yao, then we ourselves will never be truly happy."
In the days that followed, Shen Qingchen began to monitor Jiang Yao's situation in prison. Through legitimate channels, he learned that Jiang Yao was actively participating in various reformative activities. She was learning cultural knowledge, doing manual labor, and often helping other prisoners in need. All of this made Shen Qingchen even more convinced that Jiang Yao truly wanted to start a new life.
Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi also discussed Jiang Yao's post-release arrangements. They thought Jiang Yao might face many difficulties after her release. She might not be able to find a job and might be discriminated against by those around her. Therefore, they decided to provide Jiang Yao with some financial support to help her get on her feet.
Shen Qingchen said: "Zhizhi, we can give Jiang Yao some start-up capital and let her open a small shop or something. In this way, she will have her own means of making a living and can better integrate into society." Jiang Zhi's eyes lit up: "This is a good idea, Qingchen. We can help her find a suitable store and give her some business advice."
However, their decision was not easily understood by those around them. After some of Shen Qingchen's friends learned about it, they came to dissuade them. They said, "Qingchen, are you crazy? Jiang Yao treated you and Jiang Zhi so badly before, and you still support her? Isn't this the story of the farmer and the snake?" Shen Qingchen patiently explained, "I know you are doing this for my own good, but I believe Jiang Yao has changed. Moreover, we are doing this for our own peace of mind."
Jiang Zhi encountered a similar situation. Her family thought her actions were too risky. Her mother took her hand and said, "Zhizhi, you can't be so stupid. How can you trust someone like Jiang Yao? She almost hurt you badly before." Jiang Zhi smiled and said to her mother, "Mom, I know you are worried about me. But I really think Jiang Yao deserves to be forgiven. If we don't trust her, then she really won't be able to start over."
Despite facing so much opposition, Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi remained unwavering. They knew their decision was based on their trust in Jiang Yao and the kindness of their hearts.
As Jiang Yao's release from prison drew near, Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi became increasingly busy. They searched for a suitable storefront and contacted suppliers to prepare for Jiang Yao's shop. Shen Qingchen leveraged her business connections to find affordable, high-quality goods. Jiang Zhi busied herself designing the shop's interior, hoping it would exude a sense of warmth and hope.
Throughout this process, Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi encountered numerous difficulties. At one point, they found a very suitable storefront, but the landlord refused to rent it to them because of Jiang Yao's criminal record. Shen Qingchen refused to give up, repeatedly approaching the landlord, explaining Jiang Yao's transformation and promising to take responsibility for her actions. Ultimately, moved by Shen Qingchen's sincerity, the landlord agreed to rent the store to them.
Another time, when contacting suppliers, some were hesitant when they heard they were supplying Jiang Yao, a woman with a criminal record. Jiang Zhi personally called the suppliers and explained Jiang Yao's transformation with sincerity, promising their full support and ensuring no problems arose. Thanks to Jiang Zhi's efforts, some suppliers agreed to supply.
