Chapter 155 Persistent Pursuit

During their encounter in the library, when Shen Qingchen approached her, she could feel her heartbeat quicken. She tried to remain calm, but Shen Qingchen's gentle eyes and caring words still caused ripples in her heart. She didn't know how much longer she could hold on, and this inner struggle made her toss and turn at night, unable to fall asleep.

Although Shen Qingchen could always sense Jiang Zhi's indifference, he had no intention of giving up. He believed that as long as he persisted, he would one day be able to touch Jiang Zhi's heart. He noticed every subtle reaction of Jiang Zhi, and even the slightest hesitation in Jiang Zhi's eyes was a glimmer of hope. He knew that Jiang Zhi was carrying immense pain and hatred in her heart, and he was willing to use his love to slowly dissolve it, just like the spring sunshine gradually melting ice and snow.

He wrote in his diary: "Jiang Zhi, you are the most special person in my life. Your indifference is like a protective shell, and I know that behind it is a wounded heart. I am willing to use all my love to knock open this protective shell, even if the process is long and difficult, I will never back down." He regarded this diary as a place to express his feelings, and every day he would record every detail of his thoughts and pursuit of Jiang Zhi.

Shen Qingchen also learned about Jiang Zhi's preferences through her friends. He learned that Jiang Zhi liked a special kind of pastry, a traditional handmade pastry with a complex production process, which was only sold in an old shop in a corner of the city. So, he spent time to find that old shop and personally learn the production method from the master.

After countless failures, he finally learned how to make this pastry. He carefully packaged the pastry he made and sent it to Jiang Zhi's friend, hoping that his friend would pass it on to Jiang Zhi. He also included a note in the pastry box that read, "I made this for you. I hope you like it. Every bite of this pastry contains my love for you."

His actions also caused quite a stir among Jiang Zhi's friends. Friends all admired Shen Qingchen's persistence and deep affection, and they also mentioned Shen Qingchen's good points in front of Jiang Zhi intentionally or unintentionally. Although Jiang Zhi didn't say anything, his impression of Shen Qingchen had changed in his heart.

Shen Qingchen would also quietly appear in some charity events that Jiang Zhi participated in. Once, Jiang Zhi participated in a charity event to donate books to children in poor areas. After Shen Qingchen learned about it, he not only donated a large number of books, but also went to the event site in person to help carry and organize the books. At the event site, he did not deliberately approach Jiang Zhi, but just quietly did his own thing, but his eyes always fell on Jiang Zhi unconsciously.

Jiang Zhi stumbled upon Shen Qingchen's figure, and she was a little surprised. She saw Shen Qingchen carefully moving the books, with beads of sweat on his forehead, but he still didn't slack off at all. At that moment, she had even more respect for Shen Qingchen in her heart.

As time went by, Shen Qingchen's pursuit became more and more diverse. His love was like a gentle drizzle, constantly nourishing Jiang Zhi's heart. Although Jiang Zhi still held on to her inner defenses, the slight wavering in her heart gradually grew. She began to wonder if she really should have rejected Shen Qingchen. She didn't know whether the arrival of this love was a blessing from fate or an interference in her path of revenge.

While pursuing Jiang Zhi, Shen Qingchen never forgot his own career. He was a decisive leader at the company, but whenever he had free time, his thoughts were completely focused on Jiang Zhi. Between his busy workdays, he would gaze out the window at the city view and imagine what Jiang Zhi was doing. He would assign tasks to his secretary, asking her to help him gather information that might interest Jiang Zhi, whether it was an art exhibition or an academic lecture.

He compiled this information into a booklet and mailed it to Jiang Zhi. On the title page, he would write his insights and reasons for recommending it, hoping to establish a deeper spiritual connection with Jiang Zhi. He knew Jiang Zhi was an intelligent and profound woman, and he hoped to pursue her not only materially but also intellectually.

Once, the city held a grand art exhibition, showcasing masterpieces by renowned artists from both China and abroad. Learning that Jiang Zhi had a certain interest in art, Shen Qingchen purchased two tickets in advance. He dressed carefully, putting on a well-tailored suit and a tie that Jiang Zhi had once described as tasteful. Then, with the tickets, he went to Jiang Zhi's residence and gently knocked on the door.

When Jiang Zhi opened the door and saw Shen Qingchen, she was a little surprised. Shen Qingchen smiled and handed over the ticket, saying, "I know you might be interested in this art exhibition. I want to invite you to go see it together." Jiang Zhi looked at the ticket and hesitated. She knew that if she agreed, it might mean that she was emotionally closer to Shen Qingchen. But she was really interested in this exhibition. After a brief thought, she finally accepted the ticket.

At the art exhibition, Shen Qingchen followed Jiang Zhi, listening to her insights on each piece of art. Jiang Zhi's eyes sparkled with wisdom, and every word she said was filled with a unique understanding of art. Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi with love and admiration in his heart. He would occasionally interject and share some of his own views. Jiang Zhi discovered that Shen Qingchen also had a good understanding of art, which gave her a new understanding of Shen Qingchen.

Although this trip to the art exhibition did not allow Jiang Zhi to completely let down her guard, it did bring about some subtle changes in the relationship between her and Shen Qingchen. The communication between them was no longer limited to Shen Qingchen's unilateral pursuit, but began to have some ideological interaction.
