Jiang Zhi sat in the restaurant Shen Qingchen had meticulously arranged for her date. Everything around her was filled with romance. The delicate candlesticks on the table flickered softly, illuminating the bouquet of delicate flowers. On the card within the bouquet, Shen Qingchen's affectionate words seemed to still carry warmth. However, Jiang Zhi's thoughts seemed to be mired in a fog, her heart torn between the pain of the past and the deep affection of the man before her.
From the restaurant window, the city's nightscape unfolded like a dazzling painting. The bustling streets, the flashing neon lights, the hurried passersby all made Jiang Zhi feel like a loner trapped in the cracks of time. She thought of Tang Junxi, the man who once held such a significant place in her life. His passing was like a deep wound, etched deep within her heart. Every time she tried to take a step forward, the wound would ache, a reminder of her mission of revenge.
Shen Qingchen sat across from her, his eyes filled with anticipation and love. He had just shared his upbringing with Jiang Zhi, the years of struggle, the helplessness and perseverance in the face of family pressure. He had revealed everything to Jiang Zhi without reservation, hoping that she would understand him more deeply. Jiang Zhi was indeed moved by his sincerity; she could feel the deep and pure love this man possessed for her. However, her heart felt like it was being pulled by countless ropes, and the obsession with revenge roared in the depths of her soul like a ferocious beast.
Jiang Zhi sighed softly, breaking the brief silence. "Chen Qingchen, you know I can't let go of the past so easily. Tang Junxi's death is more than just the loss of a person. It's the hatred in my heart that I can't let go of. Every night, I dream of his death. It's an eternal nightmare in my heart." Her voice trembled, and her eyes gleamed with pain.
Shen Qingchen held Jiang Zhi's hand distressedly, "Jiang Zhi, I understand your pain, and I also know how important Tang Junxi is in your heart. However, you can't let hatred occupy your entire life. You still have your own life, and you should have the right to pursue happiness. I am willing to accompany you to face everything, whether it is revenge or future life."
Jiang Zhi slowly withdrew her hand and shook her head. "You don't understand, Shen Qingchen. This hatred has penetrated deep into my bones. Jiang Zhi stood up. She knew she couldn't stay here any longer. She was afraid that she would be shaken by Shen Qingchen's affection. She had to stay sober. "Thank you, Shen Qingchen. I hope you can find someone who is truly right for you in the future." After saying that, she turned and left the restaurant.
Shen Qingchen watched Jiang Zhi leave, his heart filled with helplessness and reluctance. He knew that there was an insurmountable gap in Jiang Zhi's heart, that was her longing for and hatred for Tang Junxi. However, he believed that his love would one day move her and help her walk out of that dark shadow.
After Jiang Zhi walked out of the restaurant, the cool night breeze blew in her face, making her shiver. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Shen Qingchen's face kept appearing in her mind, with eyes full of love and expectation. She knew that her rejection just now might hurt him, but she had no choice. Between revenge and love, she could only choose the former.
She walked slowly along the street, the hustle and bustle of the city echoing in her ears. She looked at the brightly lit shops and the people laughing on the streets, and a deep sense of loneliness welled up in her heart. She felt like a drifter, unable to find her home in this bustling world. Her steps grew heavier, and with each step, it felt like a struggle with her inner self.
Suddenly, she stopped. She saw a little girl selling flowers on the street, her eyes full of innocence and longing. Jiang Zhi's heart moved, and she remembered her childhood dreams. At that time, she also longed for happiness and peace. However, the tricks of fate made her lose too much and also made her bear too much hatred. She walked forward and bought a flower, a white daisy. She looked at the flower in her hand and said silently in her heart: "Tang Junxi, don't worry, I will definitely avenge you."
Jiang Zhi continued walking, her thoughts drifting back to the days she spent with Tang Junxi. Those beautiful memories played out in her mind like a movie. They'd run together in the sunshine, fished together by the river, shared dreams and joys. But all of that had been ruthlessly destroyed. She clenched her fists, anger glittering in her eyes. She knew that only by finding the true culprit could Tang Junxi's soul rest in peace.
