The moment Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen discovered the trap set on the path, anger and vigilance surged in their hearts. They knew this was no accident, it must have been intentional, and in this resort, they could roughly guess who would do such a thing.
Shen Qingchen's eyes became cold and sharp. He held Jiang Zhi's hand tightly and said softly, "Zhizhi, we must find this person. We can't let such danger lurk around us anymore." Jiang Zhi nodded, and there was determination in her eyes.
So, they began a meticulous search around the resort. Chen Qingchen, like a sharp cheetah, left no corner untouched. His steps were steady and swift, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Jiang Zhi was no less observant, her powers of observation at full force. She noted footprints and broken branches, any clue that could be the key to finding the mastermind.
Jiang Yao, meanwhile, was hiding behind a nearby bush. Seeing Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen evade her carefully laid trap, a wave of unease welled up within her. Her heart nearly leaped into her throat as she watched them search the area for suspicious individuals. She knew the consequences would be unimaginable if her actions were discovered. Her body trembled slightly, her hands clutching the leaves around her tightly, her eyes fixed on Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen's every move.
Jiang Zhi found some strange footprints at the edge of a forest. The size and shape of the footprints looked like a woman's. She squatted down and examined the footprints carefully, already having some guesses in her mind. Shen Qingchen also walked over. After seeing the footprints, his brows furrowed even more. "These footprints are very fresh. It seems that the person hasn't gone far." He said in a low voice.
They slowly followed the footprints. Jiang Yao paled with fear when she saw them heading her way. She wanted to turn and run, but she was afraid any movement would make a noise and attract their attention. She could only hold her breath, hoping they would change direction midway.
However, fate seemed to be against Jiang Yao. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen were getting closer and closer, only a few steps away from her hiding place. Jiang Yao's heart was beating like a drum, her mind blank, unsure of what to do. Just then, a small bird suddenly flew away from the branch above her head, making a fluttering sound.
The sound immediately alerted Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen. Their eyes simultaneously turned to the bushes where Jiang Yao was. Shen Qingchen rushed over and pulled Jiang Yao out, who was still hesitating whether to escape.
Jiang Yao looked at Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi in horror, her lips trembling as she tried to speak, but no sound came out. Shen Qingchen's eyes were filled with anger and disappointment. He looked at Jiang Yao coldly and said, "It's you, Jiang Yao. I should have guessed that you would do such a despicable thing."
Jiang Yao's tears welled up in her eyes. She tried to break free from Shen Qingchen's hand, but Shen Qingchen's hand held her tightly like an iron clamp. "Shen Qingchen, I... I just..." Jiang Yao stammered, trying to explain.
"Just what? Just want to hurt us? Why do you keep haunting us?" Jiang Zhi couldn't help but speak angrily. She really didn't understand why Jiang Yao was so determined to destroy their happiness.
Jiang Yao looked at Jiang Zhi, a flash of jealousy and resentment in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by fear. "I...I didn't. I just love Chen Qingchen too much. I feel bad when I see you two together." Jiang Yao cried.
"Does your love mean hurting others? Your love is twisted." Shen Qingchen scolded. He felt extremely disgusted with Jiang Yao's so-called love.
"I know I was wrong, Qingchen, please let me go. I promise I will never do this again." Jiang Yao begged, her tears streaming down her face, wetting it.
Chen Qingchen looked at Jiang Yao, feeling a mixture of emotions. He had once thought Jiang Yao was a kind girl, but her current actions chilled him to the bone. "Jiang Yao, this isn't the first time you've done this. Your promises no longer hold any credibility with me."
"But, Qingchen, I really know I was wrong. I was bewildered this time. Considering our past friendship, please forgive me this time." Jiang Yao said while crying, she tried to impress Shen Qingchen with her past memories.
Jiang Zhi watched quietly from the side. She was not fooled by Jiang Yao's tears. She knew that if someone like Jiang Yao was easily forgiven, she would probably do something to hurt them again.
Shen Qingchen took a deep breath, released Jiang Yao's hand, and said, "Jiang Yao, I can temporarily not hold you responsible, but you must leave this resort immediately and never appear in front of us again."
When Jiang Yao heard Shen Qingchen's words, she was delighted, thinking that she had turned a corner. "Okay, Qingchen, I'll leave right away." She said quickly.
However, Shen Qingchen continued, "This is the last chance I give you. If I find you doing anything to hurt us again, I will definitely not show mercy."
Jiang Yao's smile froze on her face. She knew Shen Qingchen was serious. She could only nod silently, turned around and slowly left.
Looking at Jiang Yao's departing figure, Jiang Zhi said to Shen Qingchen: "Do you think she will really stop here?"
Shen Qingchen shook his head and said, “I’m not sure either, but we must let her know that we are not easy to bully.”
Jiang Zhi leaned in Shen Qingchen's arms and said, "I hope she can really learn her lesson. We just want to enjoy our vacation."
Shen Qingchen hugged Jiang Zhi tightly and said, “No matter what, as long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone hurt you again.”
