Chapter 255 Jiang Yao's First Peep

The moment Jiang Yao learned of Shen Qingchen's marriage, it felt as if her entire world had collapsed. Her heart felt as if it were being gripped by an invisible hand, and jealousy, like weeds, grew wildly within her, quickly spreading to every corner of her body. This jealousy stemmed not only from her love for Shen Qingchen but also from her own anger and resentment at not being able to obtain what she desired.

It was a seemingly ordinary afternoon, the sun lazily streaming down the streets. Like a lost ghost, Jiang Yao involuntarily wandered to the neighborhood where Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi lived. She hid behind a large tree across the street from the complex, her eyes fixed on the gate. A complex expression shone through, a mixture of jealousy, resentment, and a subtle hint of anticipation, as if she were expecting something to suddenly happen, shattering the painfully happy scene before her eyes.

As the minutes ticked by, Jiang Yao grew increasingly irritated. Her palms were wet with sweat, and her fingers unconsciously tugged at the corners of her clothes, wrinkling them. She cursed Jiang Zhi in her heart. Even though she hadn't even had a direct encounter with him, in her mind, Jiang Zhi had become her worst enemy, the culprit who had robbed her of her happiness.

Finally, she saw Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen return from outside. They were chatting and laughing, carrying the vegetables they had just bought. Jiang Zhi's face was filled with a happy smile, as bright as a flower blooming in spring, and even more dazzling in the sunlight. Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi gently, her eyes full of love. They were like a couple who walked out of a fairy tale world, so perfect that it made people jealous.

This scene deeply stung Jiang Yao's eyes, as if they were on fire. She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging deep into her palms. She didn't even feel the pain, because the jealousy in her heart had numb her body. Her lips trembled slightly, and her teeth were clenched together, as if she wanted to vent all her anger and resentment in this way.

"Why? Why can this woman be so happy with Shen Qingchen, while I can only watch from the sidelines?" Jiang Yao kept asking herself in her heart. She felt that fate was too unfair to her. She thought she was no worse than Jiang Zhi, whether in appearance or family background. She remembered that when she first met Shen Qingchen, she was attracted by his unique temperament. From that moment on, her heart was filled with admiration for Shen Qingchen. She had imagined countless times the scene of herself and Shen Qingchen being together. They would participate in various high-end social activities together and become a couple that everyone envied. She would use her gentleness and beauty to make Shen Qingchen fall deeply in love with her. They would have a happy and complete family and lovely children... However, all these beautiful fantasies were ruthlessly broken by Jiang Zhi.

Jiang Yao watched Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen walk into the residential complex. Their figures gradually disappeared from her sight, but the happy scene lingered in her mind. Her heart was filled with anger and resentment. She felt that she couldn't just sit there and wait for death. She had to do something to destroy their happiness. She began to secretly plot various conspiracies in her heart, and her eyes became more and more fierce, like an enraged beast.

"Jiang Zhi, don't think you can stay this happy forever. I'll make you lose it all," Jiang Yao swore fiercely in her heart. She knew her actions were immoral, but jealousy had already made her lose her mind. She began to think about how to get close to them, how to find Jiang Zhi's weakness and then deliver a fatal blow. She felt like an avenger in the dark. Although she knew she was on a path of no return, she could no longer turn back.

She wandered around the complex for a long time, observing her surroundings, trying to find some useful information. She noticed the tight security measures, making direct entry difficult. She also looked at the surveillance cameras surrounding the complex, secretly plotting how to evade them. She considered disguising herself as a courier or maintenance worker, but felt those methods would be easily detected. Various thoughts raced through her mind, each one filled with malice.

Suddenly, she saw a little girl playing at the entrance of the residential complex, her mother chatting with a neighbor nearby. Jiang Yao's heart stirred, thinking this little girl might be a breakthrough. She slowly approached the girl, forcing a smile on her face, trying to appear friendly and approachable.

"Little girl, you are so cute." Jiang Yao squatted down and said gently to the little girl.

The little girl looked at Jiang Yao curiously, her eyes full of innocence. "Auntie, who are you?"

"Auntie is a friend of your parents. What's your name?" Jiang Yao said while observing the little girl's mother's reaction.

The little girl's mother glanced at Jiang Yao, but didn't take it too seriously and continued chatting with her neighbor.

The little girl replied: "My name is Mengmeng."

"Mengmeng is such a nice name. Auntie has a candy here, can you have it?" Jiang Yao took out a candy from her pocket and handed it to the little girl.

The little girl looked at the candy, then looked at her mother, feeling a little hesitant.

Seeing this, Jiang Yao quickly said, "It's okay, Mengmeng. This is a small gift from your aunt. Your mother won't be angry."

The little girl's mother heard Jiang Yao's words and turned around and said, "Mengmeng, you can't just ask strangers for things."

Jiang Yao hurriedly explained, "Sister, I'm really your friend. I live nearby and often see Mengmeng playing here. I think she's so cute, so I wanted to give her a candy."
