Chapter 258 A Warm Daily Interlude

Jiang Zhi had always had a deep interest in painting, a yearning and pursuit for beauty deep within her heart. Shen Qingchen keenly sensed this and wanted to do something to help Jiang Zhi pursue her passion. So, he inquired and used his connections to finally find the city's most prestigious painting instructor. This instructor was highly respected in the painting world, his works frequently exhibited in major art museums, and he possessed extensive teaching experience, having mentored many outstanding students.

When Shen Qingchen told Jiang Zhi the good news, her eyes sparkled with surprise. She looked at Shen Qingchen with gratitude, her heart filled with happiness. On the appointed day, the painting instructor arrived at their home. He was a kind and amiable man, his eyes revealing the depth and ingenuity of an artist. He carefully observed Jiang Zhi's painting foundation, assessing everything from her brush grip to her initial perception of color. He then developed a customized study plan for Jiang Zhi.

Since then, Jiang Zhi has set aside time every day to study painting. Immersed in this world of color and imagination, she feels as if she has found a peaceful haven of her own. Under her teacher's patient guidance, her progress is like a seedling thriving in spring, growing day by day.

Initially, Jiang Zhi began with the fundamentals of sketching. She learned how to use simple lines to outline an object and depict its light and dark relationships. She sketched various objects around her home, from a simple vase to the scenery outside her window. She spent countless hours observing the details of the objects, paying attention to every texture and every shift in light and shadow. Sometimes, she would repeatedly revise a leaf's veins until she was satisfied.

Over time, Jiang Zhi began to explore color. The world of color seemed to her like a mysterious and alluring treasure. She studied color theory, understanding the effects of different colors on how they blend and match. She began experimenting with paint on the canvas, moving from simple monochromatic gradients to complex multi-color blends. She discovered that color could express a richer range of emotions than lines, and that a single color choice could instantly transform the mood of an entire painting.

One day, Jiang Zhi suddenly had the idea to paint a portrait of Shen Qingchen. Without telling Shen Qingchen about her idea, she quietly began preparing. She collected many photos of Shen Qingchen, observing his facial features from different angles. She wanted to capture the most unique and charming side of Shen Qingchen.

Jiang Zhi applied her meticulous attention to detail during the painting process. She began by gently outlining Shen Qingchen's features with a pencil, from his deep eyes to his resolute chin, each stroke imbued with her love for him. Then, she began coloring, selecting the pigment that best matched Shen Qingchen's skin tone and applying it with meticulous care. She added a touch of bright color to his eyes, as if it were the wisdom and deep affection that always shone in them. She used delicate brushstrokes to depict his hair, making each strand appear vibrant with life.

After several days of hard work, the portrait was finally completed. When Jiang Zhi looked at her work, her heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment. This painting was not just a portrait, but also a concrete expression of her deep love for Shen Qingchen.

That day, Shen Qingchen returned home from work and walked into his room as usual. Jiang Zhi, somewhat shyly yet expectantly, pulled him over to the painting and gently peeled back the cloth covering it. Shen Qingchen's eyes widened instantly, deeply moved by the painting before him. He saw himself reflected in the painting, so lifelike, it was as if he were looking through the canvas into his real self. He could sense the painstaking effort Jiang Zhi had put into painting this painting, every detail imbued with love for him.

Shen Qingchen was so excited that he couldn't speak for a moment. He just stood there quietly, staring at the painting. After a long time, he slowly turned his head and looked at Jiang Zhi, his eyes full of emotion and surprise. He gently hugged Jiang Zhi in his arms, placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, and said with a choked voice: "This is the most precious gift I have ever received. My dear, you really surprised me."

He treasured the painting and hung it carefully on the most conspicuous wall of his bedroom. Every morning when he woke up and every night before he went to sleep, he couldn't help but look at the painting, as if he could feel Jiang Zhi's endless love in the painting.

Shen Qingchen was also quietly preparing a surprise for Jiang Zhi. He knew Jiang Zhi loved lilies the most. The snow-white, fragrant flowers were as pure and beautiful as Jiang Zhi. So, he decided to plant lilies all over the yard for Jiang Zhi.

He first consulted a professional gardener about the intricacies of lily cultivation. He learned that lilies require fertile soil, ample sunlight, and adequate water. He personally selected the highest-quality lily seeds, each one plump and full of life.

Shen Qingchen began to cultivate the land in the yard. He picked up the hoe and turned the soil over and over again. Although blisters appeared on his hands, he didn't care at all. He made the soil soft and fertile, and then added some organic fertilizer to the soil according to the gardener's advice.

He then carefully scattered the lily seeds in the soil and lightly covered them with a thin layer of earth. He personally watered the seeds every day, using a watering can in the early morning and evening, gently sprinkling them with water as if they were his most precious treasures. He also built a simple sunshade in the yard to ensure the seeds received the appropriate amount of sunlight during their germination period.
