Chapter 3: Initial Clues

Jiang Zhi stood in the old neighborhood where Tang Junxi once lived. The surrounding walls were a little mottled, and the traces of time were clearly visible here.

She frowned slightly, her eyes revealing determination and persistence.

The sunlight bathed her body, adding a soft touch of color to her simple outfit.

Jiang Zhi wore a light blue shirt with black jeans, and her long hair was casually tied into a ponytail, looking neat and tidy.

She was carrying a black backpack containing some information she had collected about Tang Junxi and her own notebook.

Jiang Zhi took a deep breath and began to ask around the neighborhood for news about Tang Junxi.

She walked into a small grocery store owned by an elderly man with gray hair.

Jiang Zhi smiled politely and asked, "Hello, Grandpa, do you know Tang Junxi? He may have lived around here before."

The old man raised his head, squinted his eyes and looked at Jiang Zhi. After thinking for a moment, he shook his head and said, "I don't know you, little girl. There are many people living around here, so I can't remember you clearly."

Jiang Zhi was a little disappointed, but still smiled and thanked him, then turned and left the grocery store.

She then walked into a snack bar, which was filled with the aroma of food.

The owner is a middle-aged woman who is busy preparing ingredients.

Jiang Zhi walked forward and asked about Tang Junxi again.

The woman stopped what she was doing, thought for a moment, and said, "Tang Junxi? I seem to have some impression of him. Is he that handsome young man?"

Jiang Zhi's eyes lit up and he nodded quickly: "Yes, it's him. Do you know anything about him?"

The woman recalled, "He seemed to come to eat here often. He was quite polite. But I don't know much about him. You could ask the owner of the barber shop over there; he might know more."

Jiang Zhi thanked the woman gratefully and walked towards the barber shop.

The owner of the barber shop was a warm-hearted uncle. When he saw Jiang Zhi come in, he smiled and greeted her, "Little girl, would you like a haircut?"

Jiang Zhi shook his head and explained his purpose. The boss frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Tang Junxi, I know him. He used to hang out in this area. However, I don't know exactly what happened to him. But I remember seeing him with a stranger once. The stranger looked very mysterious, wearing sunglasses and a black suit. They seemed to be discussing something."

Jiang Zhi's heart tightened, and he quickly asked, "Do you remember any characteristics of that stranger?"

The boss shook his head. "I'm not very clear. I just remember that he looked very cold and didn't talk much."

After Jiang Zhi got this clue, his heart was filled with hope.

She decided to continue following this clue.

She began searching the nearby streets for anyone who might have seen the mysterious man.

She asked street vendors, pedestrians, and even sanitation workers, but got no more clues.

However, Jiang Zhi did not give up.

She knew that as long as there was a glimmer of hope, she couldn't stop looking.

She came to the place where Tang Junxi used to work, which was a small company.

Jiang Zhi walked into the company and explained his purpose to the front desk staff.

The staff was a little hesitant, but seeing Jiang Zhi's determined eyes, they helped contact some of Tang Junxi's colleagues.

Jiang Zhi met Tang Junxi's colleague Xiao Li, a young man who had a deep impression of Tang Junxi.

Jiang Zhi asked, "Hello, I'd like to inquire about Tang Junxi. Do you know if he had any contact with strangers before he was murdered?"

Xiao Li thought for a moment and said, "I don't think so. However, he was in a bad mood for a while before he was killed, as if something was bothering him. I wonder if it was related to someone."

Jiang Zhi asked again: "Did you notice any unusual behavior from him?"

Xiao Li recalled: "Unusual behavior? Hmm... I remember one time I saw him answering a phone call. His face became very serious, and then he hurried out. I don't know who called him, or where he went."

Jiang Zhi felt that this call might be very important, so she decided to investigate Tang Junxi's call records.

However, this is not an easy task, she needs to find the right channels and methods.

Jiang Zhi began to think about how to obtain Tang Junxi's call records.

She thought of a friend who worked at a telecommunications company and might be able to help her.

Jiang Zhi immediately contacted the friend, who was a little hesitant after hearing her request.

After all, it is illegal to privately check other people's call records.

However, seeing Jiang Zhi's determined eyes and sad expression, her friend decided to help her.

The friend used his work authority to secretly check Tang Junxi's call records.

Jiang Zhi was waiting nervously on the side, his heart full of anticipation.

Finally, my friend found some valuable clues.

Some time before Tang Junxi was killed, a strange number contacted him frequently.

This number does not have any identity information registered, so it is impossible to determine who the owner is.

However, judging from the duration and frequency of the calls, this person seemed to have a close relationship with Tang Junxi.

Jiang Zhi decided to start from this strange number and continue the investigation.

She began to analyze the call patterns of this number, trying to find some clues.

She found that the number received more calls at night, and the calls were made in some relatively remote places.
