As night fell, the city's neon lights gradually lit up, and the pace of pedestrians on the streets became leisurely. After dinner, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen went out for a walk as usual. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the familiar park. The park's gate remained the same, and the stone lions at the entrance were still as majestic as ever, like guardians of the ages, witnessing the people coming and going and their stories.
As they entered the park, a gentle breeze blew, bringing with it the fragrance of flowers and plants, a scent mingled with sweet and bitter memories. They walked along the winding path, the soft creaking of the cobblestones beneath their feet recounting memories of the past. On a bench by the roadside, a couple cuddled together, whispering softly, a scene reminiscent of their past.
They reached the lake in the center of the park. The water shimmered in the moonlight, like a vast silver mirror. Several small boats swayed gently on the surface. Willow trees swayed along the shore, their slender branches drooping over the water, as if playing intimately with it.
Shen Qingchen's gaze fell on a large tree by the lake. That was once their favorite place. He still remembered that when they first came to this park, they spread a blanket under this tree, laid out all kinds of delicious food, and enjoyed the sunshine and each other's company. At that time, Jiang Zhi's smile was so bright, and her eyes were full of happiness, just like the flowers blooming in this spring, which made his heart intoxicated.
“Do you remember?” Shen Qingchen said softly, with a hint of emotion in his voice, “When we first came here, you accidentally spilled juice on the blanket. At that time, you were as nervous as a child.”
Jiang Zhi was slightly startled, then a smile spread across her lips. Of course she remembered it; it was a sunny day, and she had been happily preparing for the picnic, but she was too excited to handle it. "Yeah, and you kept comforting me, saying it was okay, it was just a small accident and it wouldn't affect our good mood."
They slowly walked to the tree and sat down on the grass. Jiang Zhi looked up at the sky, the stars twinkling, just like the night they made wishes together. "Back then, we made many wishes here, hoping that we could continue to be happy like this, and that our families would be healthy and safe."
Shen Qingchen nodded, a trace of guilt flashing in his eyes. "I once thought I could protect all of this, protect you, but I..." His voice was a little choked, and those past mistakes were like sharp knives, piercing his heart again and again.
Jiang Zhi gently held his hand, feeling its warmth and slight trembling. "Let the past be the past. We are starting over now, and we still have a chance to realize those unfinished wishes."
They sat quietly under the tree, memories flooding back. They remembered the days they'd fed the fish together by the lake, the fish scrambling for food, the splashes of water on their faces only making them smile even more. And then there was the time they'd flown a kite in the park, the kite soaring high in the sky, the string tightly clasped in their hands, just like their love for each other. They'd run across the grass, shouting, those were their happy times.
"Do you remember that time when it rained?" Jiang Zhi suddenly asked, "We didn't have an umbrella, so we ran to that pavilion to take shelter from the rain."
Shen Qingchen laughed, “Yes, we were listening to the sound of rain in the pavilion and looking at the world outside that was wet by the rain. At that moment, I felt that as long as you were by my side, even a storm would become so beautiful.”
Their eyes met, and they saw deep love and attachment in each other's eyes. The pain of the past had not disappeared, but at this moment, they chose to let the beauty of memories heal the wounds of their hearts.
"We have spent so many wonderful times here. These memories are our most precious treasures." Shen Qingchen said, "No matter what difficulties we encounter in the future, we must not forget these memories. They will give us strength."
Jiang Zhi leaned on Shen Qingchen's shoulder, feeling his warmth. "Well, we must cherish the present more and not let these beautiful times slip away from us."
They sat under the tree for a long time, recalling every moment, every smile, every hug. Those memories were like the stars in the night sky, lighting up their hearts and making them more determined to continue walking together.
As time passed, the park gradually dwindled, and the surroundings grew quieter. They stood up, hand in hand, and left the park. They remained silent on the way home, but their hearts remained connected. The memories evoked in the park would become the foundation of their new beginning, making their love, after weathering all the storms, even more unbreakable.
Back home, they were still immersed in the afterglow of memories. Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi, his eyes full of love. "The memories in the park today made me realize more clearly that I can't lose you again."
Jiang Zhi smiled and replied, "Me too. Those memories make me believe that our love is worth our efforts to protect."
They fell asleep in each other's arms. In their dreams, they were back in that park, back to those sweet days. Those memories were like warm sunshine, enveloping them and allowing them to feel the taste of happiness even in their dreams.
The next morning, sunlight streamed onto the bed through the gaps in the curtains. Jiang Zhi awoke, her heart filled with love as she looked at Shen Qingchen, who was still sleeping beside her. She gently rose and prepared to make breakfast. As she busied herself in the kitchen, her mind replayed the scene from last night in the park. Those memories made her movements even lighter, as if driven by the power of happiness.
