Chapter 429: In Trouble

Darkness, like thick ink, surged from all directions, enveloping Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen tightly. They had never anticipated the mysterious organization's counterattack would be so swift and brutal, like the raging waves in a storm, instantly engulfing them in a dangerous vortex.

At work, troubles came one after another. The originally calm and orderly medical environment of Jiang Zhi's hospital was turned into a mess. First, there was an inexplicable shortage of medical supplies, and those daily necessities of medicine and equipment seemed to have disappeared. Jiang Zhi was anxious. She ran between various departments, trying to coordinate and solve the problem of supplies, but every inquiry was like a stone sinking into the sea, with no response. Some spare supplies that were finally found encountered many obstacles during transportation. The truck broke down inexplicably and the driver was threatened by unidentified people, resulting in the failure of the supplies to be delivered on time. This forced many surgeries in the hospital to be postponed, and complaints from patients and their families came one after another. Jiang Zhi was under tremendous pressure, and her eyes were full of fatigue and anxiety.

The hospital's medical system also frequently malfunctioned, with electronic medical records mysteriously lost or tampered with, leaving diagnostic data in disarray. Doctors were forced to rely on memory and original handwritten notes when diagnosing patients, significantly reducing efficiency and increasing the risk of misdiagnosis. While working to restore the system, Jiang Zhi discovered the real reason behind the attack was a carefully orchestrated cyberattack, apparently orchestrated by a mysterious organization. By disrupting the hospital's operations, they sought to target Jiang Zhi and plunge her into a career crisis.

Shen Qingchen's company was not immune. Important confidential business documents began appearing on the underground market. Documents concerning the company's core business and future development plans, if leaked, would be devastating to the company. Competitors, like sharks smelling blood, seized the opportunity to attack Shen Qingchen's company, attempting to seize market share. Internally, panic reigned, and employees, plagued by rumors and gossip, saw their productivity plummet. Shen Qingchen had to cope with external competitive pressure while simultaneously maintaining internal stability. Every day, he rushed between the meeting room and the office, his eyes bloodshot, yet he dared not slack off.

Furthermore, their lives were completely disrupted. Strangers would linger near their residence daily, their eyes radiating malevolent intent. Whenever Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen left their homes, they could sense a pair of eyes watching them from behind, a constant tension that kept them on edge. Their car had also been vandalized numerous times, with tires punctured and brakes tampered with. Every trip felt like a brush with death.

Even more terrifying, a mysterious organization began threatening them with physical harm. Anonymous letters, like death warrants, continued to arrive at their homes. The contents were filled with gore and horror, detailing various brutal methods of harm. The venom emanating from the letters chilled Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen to the bone. The phone also became a source of terror, and every time it rang, their hearts would tighten. From the other end came sinister laughter and low, threatening voices, like a curse from hell.

Once, on her way home from work, Jiang Zhi suddenly felt someone was following her. She quickened her pace, and the person also quickened their pace. When she turned into an alley to try to get away, she found herself in a dead end. In the darkness, several dark figures slowly emerged, holding weapons, with a fierce gleam in their eyes. Jiang Zhi's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and she tightly grasped her bag, trying to find a chance to escape. Just as those people were about to approach her, Shen Qingchen arrived in time. He brought his bodyguards to engage in a fierce fight with those people. In the chaos, Shen Qingchen's arm was scratched, but he ignored the pain and only wanted to protect Jiang Zhi's safety.

Shen Qingchen himself has faced numerous assassination attempts. After a business trip, he was walking alone to the parking lot. Suddenly, a black sedan sped toward him, leaving him with little time to react. His bodyguards shoved him out of the way, averting tragedy. But this was only the beginning. From then on, mysterious individuals attacked him on various occasions, keeping him on high alert.

Their families were also implicated. Shen Qingchen's father received a threatening phone call at home, claiming that if Shen Qingchen didn't stop the investigation, his family would be harmed. The old man suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized. Jiang Zhi's parents also encountered some minor accidents while out and about. Although not life-threatening, they were still frightened. All this caused Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen to fall into deep self-blame and guilt, feeling that their actions had brought disaster upon their families.

In this predicament, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen endured immense stress, both mentally and physically. They often lay awake at night, each night consumed by fear and worry. But they remained undeterred, their eyes gleaming with determination. They knew that if they retreated, all their previous efforts would be in vain. They had to persevere, for the truth, for justice, and to protect themselves and their families.
