Chapter 561 Jiang Zhi's persistence and pain

After Jiang Zhi left Chen Qingchen, she felt as if she were in a desolate world. Every morning, when the first ray of sunlight filtered through the slits in the curtains and shone on her face, she would wake from her trance, subconsciously reaching out to touch the familiar spot beside her, only to find only cold air. In that moment, her heart felt like it was being pierced deeply by countless fine needles, a stabbing pain instantly spreading throughout her body, dragging her back from her half-sleep state to the cruel reality.

She often sat alone by the window, staring into the distance with empty eyes. The world outside the window was bustling with traffic and people coming and going, but all this prosperity had nothing to do with her. Her thoughts involuntarily drifted back to every moment she spent with Shen Qingchen. Those times that were once as warm and sweet as the spring sun were now like sharp blades, repeatedly cutting into her heart and becoming the most painful memories that tormented her.

She vividly remembered them strolling together along the park path, their feet a soft carpet of fallen leaves, sunlight filtering through the gaps between the leaves, casting dappled shadows. Hand in hand, their eyes meeting without words, filled with love and tenderness. And then there were the days they cooked together in the kitchen, Shen Qingchen clumsily helping wash and chop vegetables, always leaving a mess, while she smiled helplessly and dotingly beside them, the air filled with the aroma of food and their laughter.

However, all of this is now a thing of the past. Despite Shen Qingchen's desperate attempts to reconcile after the divorce—sending flowers, writing love letters, and creating romantic encounters—Jiang Zhi could never let go of his resolute decision to divorce her. She knew her heart was already broken, the pain of betrayal like a deep chasm, difficult to heal. Every time she saw something Shen Qingchen sent her, a complex wave of emotions welled up within her: the thrill of once-deep love, but more so the anger and disappointment of having been hurt.

She told herself she couldn't let a moment of weakness make her forget the pain she'd endured. She had something more important to accomplish. That was uncovering the truth about the mysterious organization behind the annihilation of Tang Junxi's family and the death of Shen Qingchen's father. This conviction, like a ray of light in the darkness, sustained her as she struggled forward through the abyss of pain.

Jiang Zhi knew this path of revenge was fraught with unknown dangers and challenges, but she remained undaunted. She began reexamining every clue she had, from the details of Tang Junxi's murder to the business dealings of Shen Qingchen's father. She often sat alone in dim light, poring over old documents and materials, trying to find any overlooked clues.

Throughout this process, she constantly reflected on whether her previous investigative direction was correct. She realized that she might have focused too much on superficial clues, overlooking the deeper interpersonal relationships and conflicts of interest. So, she decided to change her strategy, starting with seemingly insignificant individuals and delving deeper into their possible connections to the mysterious organization.

To gather more information, Jiang Zhi began to frequently travel the city. She visited small teahouses in shabby alleys, where well-informed lower-class people gathered; she also visited high-end clubs in bustling commercial districts, trying to glean useful clues from the words of business elites. She learned to disguise herself, sometimes posing as an ordinary working woman, sometimes as an elegant socialite, adopting different identities and appearances to interact with different people.

However, this investigation wasn't without its challenges. She encountered countless cold stares and rejections, and was even threatened and stalked by a mysterious individual. On one occasion, after speaking with a suspicious individual near a remote warehouse, she discovered she was being quietly followed by a black sedan as she left. She deliberately walked into a busy street, using the crowds for cover, and cleverly evaded the pursuit. But she knew this was only the beginning; the deeper her investigation progressed, the more dangers she faced.

As she faced all this alone, Jiang Zhi's heart was constantly struggling and growing. She once believed that love was the most important thing in her life, but Shen Qingchen's betrayal made her realize that there are many things in this world that are more worthy of her protection than love, such as justice and her family's blood feud. She was no longer the weak woman who only knew how to rely on love, but gradually grew into a strong and independent warrior who bravely moved forward to achieve her goals.

Although the pain within her still haunts her, she has learned to channel it into motivation. Whenever she feels alone and helpless in the darkness, she remembers Tang Junxi's warm smile and Shen Qingchen's father's kind face. Remembering the injustice and misfortune they endured, her eyes rekindle with a fire of determination. She knows she shoulders a heavy responsibility, and no matter how difficult the road ahead, she must persevere until the day she uncovers the truth.

Jiang Zhi also began to focus on improving her abilities. She set aside time every day for physical training, running, and practicing fighting techniques to make her body stronger and more agile. She also delved into various medical knowledge and poison formulas to prepare for emergencies. She knew that in the fight against the mysterious organization, only continuous self-improvement could increase her chances of victory.

Throughout this lonely and challenging journey, Jiang Zhi occasionally felt exhausted and lost. She wondered if she could truly accomplish this seemingly impossible task, if she could ever achieve justice for her fallen loved ones. But in these moments, she thought of her child. She knew she lived not only for revenge, but also to create a safe and bright future for her child. This love for her child became another powerful force that kept her going in the darkness.
