Chapter 573 The tense atmosphere on the eve of the decisive battle

As the decisive battle neared, the entire city seemed enveloped in a depressing haze. Although Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen were on the same side, their interactions were rare due to past conflicts. Yet, when their eyes occasionally met, a deep understanding and unwavering support for each other could be seen in their fleeting glances.

Alone in their simple yet secluded makeshift base, Jiang Zhi meticulously inspected each piece of weaponry. Her fingers gently glided over the cold blades, her eyes focused and stern, as she recalled the hardships and tribulations she had endured along the way, a mixture of emotions welling up in her heart. Beside her, the twins sat quietly in a corner. Though usually lively and active, they seemed to sense the solemn atmosphere, their faces tense, their eyes tinged with worry and uneasiness.

The younger sister clutched her beloved rag doll, a gift Jiang Zhi had brought back for her after a particularly dangerous situation. The doll's fur was frayed, but in her eyes, it was a treasure of the utmost importance. She would occasionally glance up at Jiang Zhi, her lips beginning to linger, her mouth hesitant to speak, before finally burying her head in the doll. The older brother, his brow furrowed, his hands unconsciously fiddling with the simple toy Jiang Zhi had made him. It was made from discarded parts, a symbol of Jiang Zhi's love and companionship for his child amidst the hardships of life. He struggled to think, trying to find a way to share his mother's worries, his young face filled with a determination that belied his age.

Jiang Zhi packed up her weapons, walked over to the children, squatted down, and gently touched their heads. "Don't be afraid, my dears. Mom will definitely protect you." She said softly, with unquestionable determination in her voice. The younger sister raised her head, tears in her eyes, "Mom, we don't want you to take risks. Can we hide together?" Jiang Zhi felt a pang of pain in her heart. She hugged the children tightly in her arms, "There are some things Mom must do. Only in this way can we truly protect our family." The older brother nodded sensibly, "Mom, I believe in you. You are the best."

Meanwhile, in his luxurious office, Shen Qingchen busily prepared everything necessary for the decisive battle. He gathered his most trusted team members, each with a serious and determined expression. The large conference table was covered with documents and maps, detailing the mysterious organization's locations and possible troop deployments.

"This battle concerns the fate of all of us. We must not slack off in the slightest." Shen Qingchen's eyes were sharp as he scanned everyone present. His right-hand man stepped forward to report on the progress of various preparations. "Boss Shen, all the weapons and equipment are in place, equipped to the highest standards. We have also contacted some reliable allies who will provide us with support at critical moments." Shen Qingchen nodded slightly. "Very good. Intelligence work must continue to be strengthened. No details can be missed."

Elsewhere in the city, Jiang Zhi's allies were frantically making final preparations. The families murdered by Jiang Lingchuan gathered together, yearning for their loved ones and committed to justice. Some were sharpening their weapons, others were poring over battle plans, and still others were sharing their experiences in fighting the mysterious organization.

An experienced old man, with deep and firm eyes, told his young allies stories of past struggles against evil forces. "Our ancestors paid all costs to safeguard justice. Now, it is our turn to take on this heavy burden." As the young people listened, their blood was ignited. They clenched their fists, their hearts filled with anticipation and fearlessness for the showdown.

Jiang Zhi reunited with his allies, and the atmosphere was solemn and serious. "According to the latest intelligence, the mysterious organization has deployed numerous defenses around the decisive battle site, but we cannot retreat." Jiang Zhi's voice was steady and powerful, breaking the silence. An ally skilled in intelligence gathering stood up and said, "While their defenses are tight, there's a relatively weak link in the northeast. We can find a breakthrough there." Everyone nodded and began to discuss the specific details of the operation.

On Shen Qingchen's side, while busy, he couldn't help but think of every little bit of his past with Jiang Zhi. Those beautiful memories were now like a double-edged sword, piercing his heart in this tense moment. He knew that his original decision had caused great harm to Jiang Zhi, and now, he only hoped to make up for it in this decisive battle. He picked up his phone and looked at Jiang Zhi's photo, his eyes full of affection and regret, "Zhi'er, this time, I will never let you down again."

Back at Jiang Zhi's place, after checking all preparations, she took the children to a safe temporary shelter. It was a small cabin in a remote mountain area, secluded and difficult to detect. She prepared enough food and daily necessities for the children, and also left some defensive weapons and alarm devices.

"My dears, stay here and don't go out no matter what happens. Mom will be back soon." Jiang Zhi suppressed her reluctance and urged the children. The younger sister cried and hugged Jiang Zhi's legs, "Mom, you must come back safely." The older brother tried to act strong, "Mom, we will take care of ourselves. You can go and fight without worry." Jiang Zhi hugged the children tightly for the last time, then turned and resolutely left. Her back gradually blurred in the children's sight, but she left an extremely determined image in their hearts.

By the time Jiang Zhi returned to the site of the final battle, it was already dark. The lights of the city twinkled in the distance, but they couldn't dispel the tension and sense of mission that gripped her. She gazed toward what would soon become the battlefield, praying silently for a swift end to all this, for justice to triumph over evil, for her, Shen Qingchen, and all their allies to return safely, and for her children to thrive in a world free of danger.

Shen Qingchen also arrived near the decisive battle site. Seeing Jiang Zhi, he felt a surge of mixed emotions. He slowly walked towards Jiang Zhi, stopping a few steps away. "Zhi'er, I'm here," he said in a low, hoarse voice. Jiang Zhi turned, looked at him, and nodded slightly. "Yes, in this battle, we'll fight side by side." Although the words were brief, the strength and trust they contained warmed Shen Qingchen's heart.

At this moment, the tense atmosphere in the air seemed to have solidified, and the storm of the decisive battle was about to come. Everyone was waiting for the arrival of the last moment, waiting for the judgment of fate, and waiting for the final showdown between justice and evil.
