The battlefield was thick with smoke, the pungent smell of gunpowder mixed with the stench of blood, making one nauseous. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen stood back to back, tightly surrounded by enemies from a mysterious organization. All around them were a group of well-equipped assassins, their black muzzles and gleaming blades flashing coldly, like vicious beasts selecting their prey.
Jiang Zhi's heartbeat raced, sweat drenching her back, but her gaze remained firm and calm. She knew full well that fear and panic were futile at this moment; only by keeping a clear mind could she hope for survival. Shen Qingchen leaned slightly to the side and whispered to Jiang Zhi, "Don't panic. Let's observe their weaknesses first." His voice was steady and powerful, with a hint of soothing intensity, but his knuckles, white from the exertion of his hands gripping his weapons, betrayed his inner tension.
The enemy began to slowly approach, and the encirclement gradually narrowed. Jiang Zhi's eyes were like lightning, quickly scanning the surrounding enemies, trying to find the weak links in their defense. Suddenly, she found that the enemy positions on the left were a little loose, seemingly due to the terrain, and their coordination with each other was not tacit. She had an idea and gently touched Shen Qingchen, signaling him to break out to the left.
Shen Qingchen understood, and the two of them attacked simultaneously in tacit coordination. Jiang Zhi flashed, dashing towards the enemy on the left like a ghost. She unleashed a fierce fist and kick, each move imbued with powerful force and precise technique. She kicked the wrist of the enemy in front, knocking the weapon out of his hand. Then she turned and elbowed another enemy hard in the chest, knocking him back several steps. Shen Qingchen, holding a weapon, provided cover fire for Jiang Zhi. His marksmanship was so accurate that each bullet whizzed towards the enemy, forcing them to temporarily hide and creating an opportunity for Jiang Zhi to break through.
However, the assassins from the mysterious organization were no pushovers. They quickly recovered from their brief panic and reorganized their attack. A tall, muscular enemy, brandishing a long sword, charged at Jiang Zhi like a tank. The sword whistled as it struck Jiang Zhi with immense force. Jiang Zhi's eyes focused, and she dodged the blow. She reached out and grabbed the enemy's wrist, using his momentum to throw him to the ground. But at that moment, another enemy took advantage of the opportunity to attack from behind, stabbing her in the back with a dagger.
At the critical moment, Shen Qingchen rushed forward and blocked the enemy's dagger with the butt of his gun. The dagger and the gun handle collided, sending a string of sparks flying. Shen Qingchen took advantage of the situation and kicked the enemy in the abdomen, knocking him down. But more enemies came like a tide, putting them in an even more dangerous situation. Bullets whizzed past their ears, and Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen could only dodge and look for opportunities to counterattack.
In the fierce battle, Jiang Zhi was unfortunately injured. A bullet grazed her arm, and blood instantly stained her sleeve red. She frowned slightly, but did not retreat. Seeing Jiang Zhi injured, Shen Qingchen felt a pang of pain in her heart and asked with concern, "How are you?" Jiang Zhi gritted her teeth and said, "I'm fine, don't be distracted!" At this moment, their physical strength was gradually depleted, and the situation became increasingly critical.
Just as they were feeling hopeless, Jiang Zhi suddenly remembered a tactic she'd read about in an ancient book. This tactic required a high level of tacit understanding and coordination, but at this moment, they had no choice but to take the risk. She hurriedly said to Shen Qingchen, "Let's use the 'Mandarin Duck Formation.' I'll attack, and you'll provide cover!" Although Shen Qingchen was doubtful, he trusted Jiang Zhi and nodded without hesitation.
The two quickly adjusted their positions, forming a simple "Mandarin Duck Formation." Jiang Zhi, like a sharp blade, charged at the enemy. Unleashing every ounce of her skill, she utilized her agility and medical prowess to deftly evade the enemy's attacks and deliver fatal blows in close combat. Shen Qingchen, in the rear, closely monitored Jiang Zhi's every move, providing precise fire support. Whenever an enemy attempted to attack Jiang Zhi from behind, he was always able to detect and repel them with his rifle.
With the help of the "Mandarin Duck Formation," they gradually stabilized their position and the enemy's attack was temporarily contained. But Jiang Zhi knew that this was only a temporary solution; they had to find a way to break out of the encirclement as soon as possible. While fighting, she observed her surroundings. Suddenly, she noticed a hillside not far away with several huge rocks on it. If they could use these rocks as cover, they might be able to break out successfully.
Jiang Zhi acted decisively, shouting to Shen Qingchen, "Retreat to the hillside!" The two fought and retreated, struggling to advance towards the hillside. The enemy seemed to sense their intentions and launched an even more frantic attack. Bullets rained down on them, and Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen could only use the ruins and corpses on the battlefield as cover, inching forward bit by bit.
During the retreat, Shen Qingchen, trying to protect Jiang Zhi, was tragically shot in the leg. He stumbled and nearly fell. Seeing this, Jiang Zhi, distraught, hurriedly supported Shen Qingchen. Shen Qingchen, enduring the excruciating pain, said, "Leave me alone, and move on!" But Jiang Zhi firmly declared, "I won't abandon you!" She tore off her clothes, briefly bandaged Shen Qingchen's wound, and then supported him as he continued up the hillside.
Finally, they reached the foot of the hillside with great difficulty. Jiang Zhi asked Shen Qingchen to hide behind a rock while she picked up her weapons from the ground and prepared to meet the enemy's final charge. By then, the enemy had caught up and surrounded them at the foot of the hillside. Jiang Zhi took a deep breath, knowing that this was a battle of life and death. The lovely faces of the children emerged in her mind, and she remembered the dead Tang Junxi and Shen Qingchen's father, and an endless power surged in her heart.
