Chapter 606 Jiang Zhi's Crisis Resolved

Jiang Zhi remained vigilant throughout this perilous escape. She knew Jiang Yao's traps would only grow more treacherous, and the weight of her responsibility to protect her child was immense. Every step forward felt like a life-or-death test.

One day, Jiang Zhi brought the children to an abandoned industrial area. The area was dotted with dilapidated factories, and rusted machinery, like the wreckage of a gigantic monster, lay scattered across the weed-covered grounds. The shattered walls looked eerie in the dim light, and the air was filled with a stench of decay and rust. Jiang Zhi had chosen this location for its remoteness, making it less visible. However, he hadn't anticipated Jiang Yao's trap, which had already been waiting there.

As she stepped into an abandoned warehouse, her keen intuition instantly alerted her to something amiss. The air around her seemed to grow thicker, an invisible aura of danger creeping in. She clutched her child tightly, her eyes sharp as a hawk's as she glanced around cautiously. Suddenly, she noticed some unusual marks on the ground, as if someone had deliberately placed something there.

Jiang Zhi stopped immediately, not wanting to be complacent. She crouched down gently, placing the child in a relatively safe corner while she retrieved some homemade self-defense medicine and simple tools from her bag. Just then, she heard a faint hissing sound, as if some dangerous creature were spitting its venom in the shadows. Her heart tightened, knowing the trap was about to be triggered.

Instantly, a pungent, poisonous mist surged from all directions, quickly spreading. The mist took on an eerie yellow-green hue, appearing particularly eerie in the dimly lit warehouse. Jiang Zhi was startled, but her years of training and calm demeanor allowed her to react quickly. Without hesitation, she removed her coat and tightly covered the child's mouth and nose to prevent the poisonous mist from entering.

However, she inevitably inhaled some of the toxic mist. A stinging sensation instantly spread through her throat and lungs, making it difficult to breathe and blurring her vision. But Jiang Zhi didn't flinch. She endured the discomfort and, relying on her memory and her sense of the environment, quickly mapped out the layout of the warehouse. She knew she had to find the source of the toxic mist and destroy it quickly, or both she and her child would be in danger.

She struggled to her feet, relying on her tenacious willpower and exceptional agility to grope her way through the poisonous fog. Each step felt like a tug-of-war with death. Her physical weakness intensified, but her faith grew stronger. Finally, she discovered a device hidden behind a dilapidated wooden crate in a corner of the warehouse, from which the poisonous fog was pouring out incessantly.

Jiang Zhi immediately crouched down and examined the device carefully. It was an ingenious mechanism, seemingly complex, but with her ingenuity and understanding of mechanical principles, she quickly found a way to decipher it. She pulled a small screwdriver from the package and carefully disassembled the key components. Her hands trembled slightly from the toxic mist, but she remained completely focused.

During the intense dismantling process, Jiang Zhi's mind kept replaying Tang Junxi's image. The fond memories of their time together, intertwined with the painful image of his brutal murder, became a powerful driving force for her to persevere. She told herself she must survive, must avenge Tang Junxi, and must not put her child in danger.

As the last critical component was removed, the poisonous fog gradually dissipated. Jiang Zhi breathed a sigh of relief, but she knew the danger was not over yet. She hurried back to the child to check if he had been affected by the poisonous fog. Fortunately, thanks to her timely protection, the child was not seriously injured, only slightly frightened, and now looked at her with wide eyes, anxiously.

Jiang Zhi clutched the child tightly in her arms, softly comforting her. Her body was weakened by the toxic mist, her clothes soaked with sweat, but her eyes revealed a resolute determination. She knew Jiang Yao wouldn't give up, and that dangers like this would continue to ensue.

To quickly recover her strength, Jiang Zhi found a relatively safe and secluded corner of the warehouse and sat down. She took some herbs and water from a package and prepared a simple antidote for herself. After taking it, she closed her eyes and began to regulate her breathing. As she recuperated, her mind raced, pondering Jiang Yao's possible next move and how to best respond.

She realized that simply avoiding danger wouldn't save her. She had to take the initiative, seek out the weaknesses of Jiang Yao and the mysterious organization, and defeat them once and for all. To do this, she needed a stronger force and more allies. She thought of the families Jiang Lingchuan had murdered; they might also be seeking revenge. If she could join forces with them, perhaps she could reverse the current predicament.

Jiang Zhi secretly formulated a plan. She decided to find a safe place to settle the children first, then begin searching for the members of those families and trying to form an alliance with them. At the same time, she couldn't let her guard down against Jiang Yao and the mysterious organization, and she had to continue gathering intelligence and understanding their every move.

After a period of recuperation, Jiang Zhi's strength gradually returned. She stood up, picked up the child again, and carefully left the abandoned warehouse. She chose a more secluded route, heading towards the edge of the city. She knew there might be a temporary safe haven there, which would also facilitate her next move.

As she advanced, Jiang Zhi kept a constant eye on her surroundings. Using her wits, she cleverly avoided the search area of Jiang Yao's assassins. She would deliberately leave misleading clues at intersections, tricking the assassins into thinking she was heading in a certain direction, then quietly change her route. She also used the terrain to her advantage, concealing her movements like a cheetah lurking in the grass, always ready to respond to any danger.
