Jiang Zhi's eyes burned with rage, a burning hatred for Jiang Yao and a determination to avenge her ally. With the agility of a cheetah, she stalked the city's shadows, relentlessly pursuing her cunning prey. Jiang Yao, like a frightened hare, scurried through the streets, searching for a glimmer of hope.
Jiang Zhi's mind replayed Jiang Yao's atrocities: the assassinated allies, some lying in pools of blood, some struggling to die in agony; the desperate situation she and her child had been forced into, the multiple near-misses; and the life thrown into turmoil by Jiang Yao's schemes, her financial resources destroyed, her reputation maliciously vilified. Each image pierced her heart like a sharp knife, only solidifying her resolve to make Jiang Yao pay a heavy price.
Jiang Yao ran furiously ahead, her heartbeat thundering in her ears, her breath so rapid she felt she was suffocating. She knew that if Jiang Zhi caught her, she would be doomed. She frantically glanced back, only to see Jiang Zhi's shadow following her. His icy gaze seemed to pierce her soul, sending a chill down her spine. Jiang Yao's steps began to falter, her strength gradually failing, but the will to survive drove her on.
Jiang Zhi locked onto Jiang Yao's back, her steps light and firm, each one covering a vast distance. She deftly dodged obstacles, using walls and trash cans as leverage to accelerate. Throughout the chase, Jiang Zhi kept a constant eye on her surroundings, wary of any ambush Jiang Yao might set. She knew Jiang Yao was at the end of her rope and might resort to a desperate move.
Suddenly, Jiang Yao rushed into an abandoned factory area. Overgrown with weeds, dilapidated buildings stood in rows, strewn with rusted machinery and discarded materials, it resembled a maze. Jiang Yao attempted to use the complex terrain to lose Jiang Zhi. She weaved between the buildings, occasionally hiding in corners, trying to make Jiang Zhi lose sight of her target.
Jiang Zhi slowed her pace upon entering the factory area, observing her surroundings warily. A gentle breeze rustled the dilapidated windows, a warning of danger. With her keen hearing, Jiang Zhi picked up Jiang Yao's movements. She heard her frantic footsteps echoing through the nearby factory building, along with the subtle clatter of bumping into debris.
Jiang Zhi cautiously approached, following the direction of the sound. As she entered a factory building, a pungent stench of decay and rust filled the air. In the dim light, only vague outlines could be seen. As Jiang Zhi's eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, she noticed some fresh footprints on the ground, clearly left by Jiang Yao. She continued to follow the tracks, remaining vigilant, wary of a possible sneak attack from Jiang Yao.
Jiang Yao hid behind a massive machine, not daring to breathe. Her body trembled, her eyes fixed on the door. She clutched a rusty iron pipe she'd picked up from the ground, ready to make a final stand should Jiang Zhi appear. Time seemed to freeze, each second stretching indefinitely. Jiang Yao heard Jiang Zhi's footsteps approaching, and her heart leaped to her throat.
Just as Jiang Zhi was about to reach Jiang Yao's hiding place, she suddenly stopped. She sensed a strange presence, as if danger was close at hand. Jiang Zhi looked around and found the surroundings too quiet, almost eerie. She realized that Jiang Yao might have set a trap nearby, so she chose a different direction instead of rushing forward.
Seeing Jiang Zhi didn't fall for it, Jiang Yao panicked even more. She knew she couldn't just sit there and wait for death, so she took advantage of Jiang Zhi's change of direction and rushed out from behind the machine, sprinting towards the other exit. Jiang Zhi, upon hearing the noise, immediately turned and gave chase. Her speed was so fast that she closed the distance between them in a few quick strides.
As Jiang Yao fled, she spotted a tall shelf piled high with debris. With a sudden impulse, she toppled it over, hoping to use the falling debris to block Jiang Zhi's pursuit. Seeing this, Jiang Zhi quickly dodged to the side. Heavy metal parts fell beside her, sending up a cloud of dust. Without pausing, she continued her pursuit.
By this time, Jiang Yao had already reached the edge of the factory area. She saw a wide, busy road outside. She was delighted, thinking that if she could just run to the road, she could use the crowds and cars to escape Jiang Zhi. So, she rushed towards the road without hesitation.
Jiang Zhi, hot on her heels, was startled when she saw Jiang Yao sprinting toward the road. She knew the situation on the road was dangerous. If Jiang Yao panicked and caused an accident, it would not only endanger the lives of innocent bystanders but also give her a chance to escape. Jiang Zhi sped up, and just as Jiang Yao was about to step onto the road, she suddenly leaped at her.
Jiang Yao was tackled to the ground by Jiang Zhi. She struggled desperately, waving the iron pipe wildly. Jiang Zhi grabbed Jiang Yao's wrist tightly and twisted it hard, causing the pipe to fall to the ground. Jiang Yao used her free hand to grab Jiang Zhi's face, but Jiang Zhi dodged and punched Jiang Yao in the stomach. Jiang Yao curled up in pain and groaned.
Jiang Zhi sat on top of Jiang Yao, her eyes filled with rage and hatred. She raised her fist, about to strike Jiang Yao in the face, when suddenly, she remembered the allies Jiang Yao had killed, and the suffering she and her child had endured. Her hands trembled slightly in the air, and the rage within her threatened to consume her. But she held back, knowing that killing Jiang Yao now would be too easy for her. She wanted to make Jiang Yao pay a greater price for her crimes.
Jiang Zhi stood up, grabbed Jiang Yao, and tied her hands behind her back. Jiang Yao's face was filled with fear and despair, knowing she had completely failed. Jiang Zhi took Jiang Yao with her, preparing to return to her allies. She wanted to learn more about the mysterious organization from Jiang Yao, taking a firm step towards its complete destruction.
