Chapter 636 Jiang Yao's Struggle

Deep within the base, amidst the hail of gunfire and the cries of death, Jiang Yao was cornered by the chaotic battle. Her hair lay disheveled on either side of her face, her delicate makeup washed away by sweat and fear, her eyes filled with panic. The magnificent attire that once symbolized her arrogance was now torn and tattered, stained with dust and blood, and hung in disarray on her trembling body.

Only a handful of close associates remained by her side. Their faces were filled with exhaustion and fear, yet they persevered, trying to carve a path for her escape from this desperate situation. Jiang Yao's breathing was rapid and heavy, her chest heaving with each gasp. Her heart pounded wildly, threatening to burst through her chest. Her legs, weakened by the sheer terror, could barely support her weight. She could only lean against the wall to barely stand.

Jiang Yao's eyes frantically scanned the battlefield, searching for a glimmer of hope. Suddenly, she spotted a possible escape hatch: a dim, narrow passage in a corner of the base. A glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes, and she rushed in that direction, reckless. Her movements were frantic and hurried, completely devoid of her usual grace and composure. As she ran, she nearly tripped over debris on the ground.

However, fate seemed determined not to let her off. Just as she was about to step into the passage, a ghostly figure appeared before her, blocking her path. Jiang Yao looked up in fear, only to be met with Jiang Zhi's cold yet resolute face. Her eyes, piercing like a sharp blade, pierced Jiang Yao's heart. Her figure stood tall and majestic, like a messenger of vengeance from hell. Radiant in the flames of battle, she exuded a chilling aura.

Jiang Yao's body instantly froze, as if under a spell, unable to move. Her face turned pale as paper, her lips drained of color and trembled slightly. Fear, like an icy tide, quickly overwhelmed her body and mind, plunging her thoughts into a state of chaos. Her eyes were filled with despair and helplessness, like a trapped beast, struggling unwillingly despite knowing there was no escape.

Under this extreme fear, Jiang Yao's psychological defenses completely collapsed. Her legs gave way, and she fell to her knees in front of Jiang Zhi with a plop. She hugged Jiang Zhi's legs tightly, begging desperately, "Jiang Zhi, please, let me go! I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong! I was blinded by jealousy, which is why I did so many wrong things. I don't want to die. Please, for the sake of our past acquaintance, spare me this time!" Her voice was trembling and hoarse, with tears and snot flowing uncontrollably, making her dirty face even more miserable.

Jiang Yao begged, kowtowed furiously, her forehead thumping against the ground. With each kowtow, her body trembled violently, and soon a puddle of water formed on the ground, a mixture of tears and sweat. Her eyes were filled with fear and despair as she stared intently at Jiang Zhi, hoping to see a glimmer of pity.

Jiang Zhi looked down at Jiang Yao, a mixture of emotions welling up in her heart. Her mind involuntarily flashed back to the pain and suffering she had endured in the past: the countless life-or-death crises she and her child had endured, the assassinations orchestrated by Jiang Yao; the blood of her allies, still fresh in her blood, the horrific scenes that seemed to be right before her eyes; and her once peaceful and happy life, shattered by Jiang Yao, now filled with pain and fear. These painful memories burned like a raging fire within her, fueling her rage like a volcanic eruption.

Jiang Zhi clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms. Her body trembled slightly as she fought to suppress the urge to kill Jiang Yao immediately. She knew that if she killed Jiang Yao rashly, while it would temporarily relieve her hatred, it would likely make the mysterious organization even more invisible. The truth hidden in the darkness would never be revealed, and more innocent people would continue to suffer persecution. She couldn't abandon her pursuit of the entire mysterious organization and her chance to seek justice for all its victims simply for the sake of her own personal vendetta.

So, Jiang Zhi took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She slowly raised her foot and pulled Jiang Yao's hands away from her legs. Seeing this, Jiang Yao thought Jiang Zhi was going to attack her, and she screamed in fear. Her body curled up into a ball and trembled constantly. However, Jiang Zhi did not kill her as she thought. Instead, he said coldly: "Jiang Yao, the crimes you have committed are too numerous to list. Even if you die ten thousand times, it will not be enough to atone for your sins. But I will not kill you now. If you still want to have a chance of survival, you must cooperate with me and explain everything you know about the mysterious organization. Otherwise, I will make you live a life worse than death."

Jiang Yao, as if granted amnesty, quickly raised her head, her eyes filled with surprise and gratitude. She nodded frantically, repeating, "I will, I will! As long as you don't kill me, I'll tell you everything." Jiang Yao had long since lost her former arrogance and pride. Faced with the threat of death, she felt like a lowly ant, relying only on Jiang Zhi's mercy to save her shaky life.
