Chapter 743 Clues to the Mysterious Organization

Jiang Zhi and his companions knew that every clue could be the key to their approaching the truth and destroying the mysterious organization, so they dared not slack off. After discovering the clue that pointed to the abandoned manor in the suburbs, they immediately launched a detailed investigation and a careful plan.

This abandoned manor was located in a remote area on the edge of the city. Surrounded by overgrown weeds and crumbling walls, it gave off an eerie, gloomy, and silent feeling. From a distance, the main structure of the manor loomed, like a giant shadow looming over the land. Jiang Zhi and the others approached cautiously, relying on their respective expertise to avoid many dangers.

Lin Xiao walked in front, his limbs slender and his eyes sharp, like a vigilant cheetah, constantly alert to his surroundings. He clutched a specially crafted dagger, which gleamed coldly in the moonlight. It was the weapon he had relied on to survive countless life-or-death struggles. With every step, he carefully scanned the ground for signs of traps or hidden sentries, his ears perked up, listening for even the slightest sound.

Jiang Zhi followed behind Lin Xiao, her gaze steady and calm, clutching a simple medical kit in case of emergency. Her steps were light and steady, her years of training ensuring she remained alert and agile. She also drew upon her knowledge of herbs and poisons, carefully examining the surrounding plants, wary of any hidden poisons. She continually reviewed the information she had gathered about the mysterious organization, attempting to find further clues.

The others also displayed their own abilities. Some excelled at concealment, moving through the shadows like ghosts, scouting the way for everyone; some were proficient in traps and hidden weapons, constantly keeping an eye out for possible dangers; and still others excelled at observing the terrain, drawing simple maps so they could quickly find escape routes in the event of danger.

As they approached the manor, they discovered it was rife with traps and hidden sentries. Tripwires hidden in the bushes, spike traps beneath the ground, and crossbow traps in the trees offered a glimpse of deadly dangers. But Jiang Zhi and his companions, with their rich experience and keen insight, deftly avoided these dangers time and again.

They lurked near the manor, finding a secluded vantage point from which they could clearly observe the movements within. A number of mysterious individuals frequently entered and exited the manor. They wore black robes, their faces stern, and moved swiftly and methodically, seemingly conducting some important meeting. Jiang Zhi and the others waited quietly, knowing that only by waiting for the perfect opportunity could they penetrate the manor further and uncover the core secrets of the mysterious organization.

As time passed and night fell, a few dim lights lit up inside the manor. Jiang Zhi and the others watched as the mysterious figures began to gather in front of the manor's main building, their figures swaying in the light like a group of ghosts. Their demeanor and expressions suggested the importance and seriousness of this meeting.

Jiang Zhi whispered to Lin Xiao beside him, "It seems they are planning something big. We must find out their plan as soon as possible, find evidence, and catch them all in one fell swoop." Lin Xiao nodded slightly, his eyes revealing a firm determination: "Don't worry, we will succeed."

To hear the meeting more clearly, Jiang Zhi and the others decided to venture closer. They moved cautiously along the manor's wall, trying not to make any noise. They stopped at a window near the main building and listened intently to the conversation inside.

However, due to the distance and the closed windows, they could only hear some vague sounds and could not obtain key information. Jiang Zhi frowned, thinking about her next move. Suddenly, she saw a ventilation hole nearby, which might be able to enter the main building.

She indicated her idea to Lin Xiao and the others, and they all agreed. So, Jiang Zhi used her agility to climb up the wall to the vent. She carefully opened the vent cover and slowly climbed inside.

The ventilation duct was narrow and dark, filled with a stale smell. Jiang Zhi held her breath and slowly crawled forward, her heart racing. She knew she was in extreme danger. But to uncover the truth about the mysterious organization, she didn't flinch.

Finally, she found a spot overlooking the conference room. Through a gap in the vents, she saw a tall, dignified man standing in the center of the room, speaking nonstop. The people around him listened in silence, their faces filled with awe.

Jiang Zhi concentrated, listening intently to their conversation. She overheard discussions of plans to control the city's economic lifeline and how to exploit various illegal means to reap huge profits. She was filled with anger. These people, driven by their own selfish desires, would resort to any means necessary to harm innocent people and destroy the city's peace.

Just as she was about to continue listening, she suddenly heard a faint sound of footsteps outside. Jiang Zhi was startled, realizing that it might be a patrol. She quickly climbed back along the ventilation duct, wanting to leave this dangerous place as soon as possible.

However, her action still alarmed the people outside. They heard a loud shout: "Someone is in the ventilation duct!" Then, there was a burst of hurried footsteps and shouts outside.

Jiang Zhi quickened her pace, desperately crawling out. When she reached the vent, she found Lin Xiao and the others already outside, ready to meet her. They quickly took Jiang Zhi out of the manor and disappeared into the night.
