On a quiet night, the hustle and bustle of the city gradually faded away. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen finished their busy day and finally had a moment of leisure. As usual, they walked tacitly to the courtyard, where there were two comfortable lounge chairs facing the vast night sky.
Jiang Zhi sat down gently, raised her head slightly, and cast her eyes on the twinkling sea of stars. Shen Qingchen also sat down soon after. He turned his head to look at Jiang Zhi. The moonlight sprinkled on her face, outlining a soft outline. For a moment, memories of the past flooded into her heart like a tide.
"Child, do you remember the first time we met?" Shen Qingchen was the first to break the silence, his voice carrying a hint of distant aftertaste, "Back then, you always kept to yourself, with a cold look in your eyes that kept people at a distance, but I was attracted by your stubbornness."
A faint smile played on Jiang Zhi's lips, and her thoughts drifted back to the streets of the city. Back then, she was consumed by the obsession of revenge for Tang Junxi. The advances and pursuits of others were nothing but fleeting clouds in her eyes. "Yeah, I never imagined I'd meet you under such circumstances, and I certainly didn't expect you to be so persistent in entering my life."
Shen Qingchen sighed slightly, his smile tinged with bitterness. "At first, I thought that as long as I was passionate enough, I could melt the ice in your heart. But I didn't expect that your heart was so tightly wrapped in the flames of revenge that you had no time to care about anything else." He paused, his eyes becoming deep. "Later, we went through many twists and turns and finally got together, but we encountered many obstacles from Jiang Yao and the mysterious organization."
Jiang Zhi's eyes flashed with pain. The days of Jiang Yao's harassment and frame-up were still etched in her mind. "Jiang Yao's jealousy nearly tore us apart. She was unscrupulous, and every provocation was like a sharp blade piercing our lives."
"But you never bowed your head, never showed weakness." Shen Qingchen's voice was full of admiration. "Faced with her various conspiracies, you relied on your wisdom and courage to resolve crises time and time again. Just like that time in the abandoned factory, surrounded by killers, you dealt with them alone to protect the children. When I arrived, my heart was in my throat."
Jiang Zhi shook his head gently, as if trying to dispel the tense memories. "I can't fall. I still have children and unfinished quest for revenge. Even though my body is exhausted, as long as I think of Tang Junxi's injustice and the suffering our family may endure, I must cheer up."
"Fortunately, everything is over." Shen Qingchen reached out and gently held Jiang Zhi's hand, conveying warmth and strength. "The mysterious organization has been destroyed, and Jiang Lingchuan and Gu Manqi will also receive the punishment they deserve. We have finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel."
Jiang Zhihui held his hand, feeling the familiar warmth, her heart filled with emotion: "Over the years, we have lost so much, but also gained so much. Once, pain and suffering followed me everywhere, and I thought I would be consumed by hatred. It was you, and the friends around you, who made me see the light in life."
Shen Qingchen nodded slightly, his eyes becoming soft and long: "Just like Lin Xiao and the others, they always stand up in the most critical moments. Without their help, we don't know how many more detours we would have taken. This friendship is more precious than anything else."
"And the children." Jiang Zhi's eyes sparkled with maternal love. "They are the most beautiful gift God has given us. Watching them grow up day by day, seeing their sister's kindness and loveliness, and their brother's cleverness and wit, all the hard work is worth it."
Shen Qingchen raised the corners of her mouth, her eyes full of expectations for her children: “We must give them a better future, let them grow up in love and care, and don’t have to experience the suffering we once had.”
Jiang Zhi responded softly, then after a moment, fell into deep thought again: "Actually, my perspective on life has changed a lot along the way. Revenge used to be my only goal in life, but slowly, I discovered that there are so many people around me who are worth cherishing, and so many things worth doing."
Shen Qingchen deeply agrees: "Yes, hatred will only plunge people into endless darkness, while love and responsibility can make life meaningful. Just like we are now devoting ourselves to charity work, seeing children in poor areas go to school and have access to medical care because of our help, the sense of satisfaction is indescribable."
Jiang Zhi turned his head slightly and looked at Shen Qingchen, his eyes full of recognition: "You are right. Moreover, we also have responsibilities in the development of the family business. From rebuilding the family to expanding the business, every step is not easy, but every success makes me understand that our efforts are not just for ourselves."
Shen Qingchen patted Jiang Zhi's hand gently and encouraged her, "You played a huge role in this. Your wisdom and medical skills have solved many problems for the family. Especially the innovative business concepts you proposed have made the family business stand out in the market competition."
Jiang Zhi smiled and shook his head: "I just did my part. You worked just as hard. Leading the team and resolving internal conflicts. Without you, the family business would not be as glorious as it is today."
The two looked at each other and smiled, their smiles full of satisfaction for their past efforts.
"Look at this city again." Shen Qingchen raised his hand and pointed at the brilliant lights in the distance. "It was once a chaotic place caused by a mysterious organization, with a depressed economy and panic among the people. Now, with the joint efforts of us and everyone, the haze has dissipated and everything is recovering."
Jiang Zhi's eyes were filled with emotion: "We have become heroes in people's eyes, but I know that this honor does not belong to us individually, but is the result of everyone's concerted efforts. Everyone who stands up for justice deserves to be remembered."
Shen Qingchen nodded in agreement: "This honor is also a spur, reminding us to continue to do more for the city and society. Whether it is inheriting culture, promoting technological innovation, or caring for vulnerable groups, we have an obligation to do so."
