Chapter 810 Between Life and Death

The mysterious organization's headquarters stood like a dark fortress in a remote area, filled with an eerie, deathly silence. As Jiang Zhi, Shen Qingchen, and the others approached, before they could react, deafening artillery fire erupted, seemingly ripping the world apart.

Jiang Zhi felt a flash of fire before her eyes, the pungent smell of gunpowder instantly filling her nostrils, followed by a whirlwind of flying earth and rocks, and a wave of heat. She instinctively raised her hands to shield her head, ducking to the side to avoid the swarming shrapnel. Her eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, only to see her teammates also locked in a fierce battle. Shen Qingchen's reaction was also extremely fast, throwing a comrade to the ground at the moment of the explosion, shielding him from danger with her body.

Undeterred, the crowd charged forward. Jiang Zhi knew she couldn't panic. She took a deep breath, suppressed her fear, and, with her agility, weaved through the hail of bullets. Her nimble form, like a nimble cheetah, dodged left and right, deftly avoiding each deadly line of fire. However, the enemy's fire was too intense, making each step forward incredibly difficult. The ground beneath her feet was cratered and pitted, and even the slightest mistake could have meant a fall.

Shen Qingchen roared, his eyes gleaming with determination as he led the assault team, charging towards the enemy's core defenses. He gripped his weapon tightly, his posture erect, like a pine tree standing proudly amidst a raging storm. Every pull of the trigger was laced with the resolve to kill. The assault team followed closely behind him, well-trained and coordinated, covering each other as they advanced in shifts. However, the mysterious organization's defenses were also exceptionally tight, with snipers lurking in the shadows frequently launching surprise attacks, inflicting considerable casualties.

Jiang Zhi ran to a wounded teammate, shot in the leg. Blood gushed out, his face pale with pain, and a cold sweat broke out. Jiang Zhi quickly crouched down, pulled a tourniquet from her medical kit, and expertly bandaged the wound. Her eyes were focused and calm, whispering soothing words: "Don't be afraid, hold on, we'll get out of this." But just then, a bullet whizzed past, glancing off Jiang Zhi's scalp. She could even feel the scorching heat. Jiang Zhi was startled, but her movements didn't stop. Her eyes grew colder, and she vowed to make these enemies pay.

On Shen Qingchen's side, they gradually approached the enemy's first line of defense, only to encounter a carefully arranged barbed wire and minefield. A team member in front accidentally triggered a mine. With a loud "boom," flames shot into the sky, and the team member was instantly blown away, body fragments scattered all over the ground. Shen Qingchen's eyes were bloodshot, his anger burning to the extreme, but he knew that he had to remain calm. He shouted loudly, directing his team members to use explosive devices to blow through the barbed wire and carefully clear the mines.

However, the mysterious organization seemed to have anticipated this, taking advantage of their minefield clearance to launch another round of fierce attacks. Shells rained down like rain, pinning the assault team into a small, low-lying area, suffering heavy casualties. Shen Qingchen watched his fellow soldiers fall around him, some closing their eyes forever before even uttering a scream. His hands clenched into fists, nails digging deep into his palms, blood trickling through his fingers. His heart was filled with grief and indignation, yet he pressed forward even more courageously.

Jiang Zhi had just finished treating the wound of her injured teammate and was about to stand up and continue moving forward when she suddenly heard a scream from behind her. She looked back and saw a young ally hit by an enemy rocket. The whole person was instantly engulfed in flames and rolled on the ground in pain. Jiang Zhi's heart suddenly tightened and she wanted to rush over to rescue him, but the enemy's firepower network was too dense and she couldn't get close at all. In desperation, she could only watch her comrades die in the flames. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced them back. At this moment, she had no time to grieve.

Shen Qingchen led the remaining team, desperately breaking through the barbed wire and engaging the enemy in close combat. A fierce hand-to-hand fight ensued, with swords flashing and blood splattering everywhere. Shen Qingchen wielded his dagger like a flash of black lightning, engaging the enemy in a desperate struggle. His moves were fierce and powerful, each strike carrying immense force, leaving the enemy somewhat unable to withstand him. But the members of the mysterious organization were no pushovers either. They were numerous and fearless, and as one wave fell, another surged forward.

On her side, Jiang Zhi, with her exceptional medical skills, braved the hail of gunfire, providing first aid to the wounded. Disregarding her own safety, she rushed to the wounded without hesitation. Once, while she was staunchly trying to stop the bleeding of a critically injured soldier, a grenade exploded nearby, sending her caressing to the ground. She landed hard, scraping her elbows and knees, oozing blood. But Jiang Zhi gritted her teeth, quickly scrambled to her feet, dusted herself off, and rushed to the next casualty.

As the battle dragged on, both sides suffered heavy casualties. Corpses lay scattered in front of the mysterious organization's headquarters, their blood staining the ground a dark red, and the air was filled with a sickening stench of blood. Jiang Zhi, Shen Qingchen, and the others gradually fell into a difficult situation, their ammunition running low and their strength dwindling. But they supported each other and fought on with a tenacious will.

Shen Qingchen was covered in wounds, his clothes soaked in blood, his own and the enemy's. A deep gash had been slashed across his arm by the enemy's dagger, the flesh protruding and the bone faintly visible. Every swing of the weapon was excruciating. Yet, he seemed oblivious to the pain, his gaze fixed firmly on the enemy ahead, not retreating a single step. Jiang Zhi was no better off. Her hair was disheveled, her face stained with dust and blood, and her clothes were ripped in multiple places by shrapnel, revealing scars.
