The battlefield was thick with smoke, and the cries of killing and the roar of gunfire intertwined into a tragic melody. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, bloodstained and exhausted, struggled forward amidst the hail of bullets. Every step seemed to be on the brink of life and death, but the determination in their eyes never wavered, for they knew that the final truth was within reach.
Overcoming numerous obstacles along the way, allies around them kept falling, and new comrades bravely replaced them. The splattered blood and screams of pain turned into their motivation to move forward. Finally, they came to a secret chamber. Their intuition told them that the mastermind behind the scenes, "Shadow", was hiding there.
Shen Qingchen kicked open the door of the secret room, followed closely by Jiang Zhi. The two quickly took up combat stances and looked around vigilantly. The secret room was dimly lit, filled with an old and oppressive atmosphere. It was filled with various ancient books and documents, as if hiding countless unknown secrets.
At the far end of the chamber, a figure slowly emerged. He was clad in a black robe, towering and imposing. His face was covered by an exquisite silver mask, revealing only a pair of cold, sinister eyes that sent shudders down his spine. This was the "Shadow" they had been searching for, the mastermind behind the mysterious organization, wreaking havoc in the darkness and bringing untold disasters.
Jiang Zhi gripped the dagger tightly, the blade gleaming coldly in the dim light. Her gaze was like a torch, fixed on Shadow, as if she wanted to see through him. Shen Qingchen clenched his fists, his muscles tense, and exuded a strong murderous aura. He took a step forward and roared through gritted teeth, "You devil, today is the day you die!"
Shadow let out a deep, hoarse laugh that echoed throughout the chamber, revealing endless mockery and arrogance. He slowly raised his hand and removed the mask.
When that face was completely exposed before their eyes, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen were stunned, as if struck by a bolt from the blue, and stood there in a daze for a moment.
"How...how could it be you?" Shen Qingchen widened his eyes, his face full of disbelief, and his voice trembled slightly with shock.
The person in front of him turned out to be Gu Manqi's brother - Gu Yichen. He was once an acquaintance that Shen Qingchen occasionally met in the business world. He was a seemingly gentle and elegant rich young man. Who would have thought that he was hiding such deep scheming and evil.
Gu Yichen raised a twisted smile at the corner of his mouth, his eyes flashing with madness, and he slowly said: “You didn’t expect it, Shen Qingchen, Jiang Zhi, are you satisfied with today’s good show?”
Jiang Zhi recalled the past, a surge of anger in her heart. She angrily demanded, "Gu Yichen, why did you do this? Tang Junxi's family has no grudge against you, and Uncle Shen treated you well. Why did you kill them and orchestrate this series of tragedies?"
Gu Yichen threw his head back and laughed heartily, his laughter filled with sadness and resentment: "No grudges or hatred? Humph, you simply don't understand the pain I've endured, the humiliation my family has suffered!"
His eyes gradually became empty, as if he was lost in distant memories: "Many years ago, our Gu family was once a famous and prestigious family in the business world, with unlimited glory. But Shen Qingchen, in order to expand his business territory, your father used all means to suppress us, colluded with various forces, and made our Gu family bankrupt overnight. My father was overwhelmed and died with hatred. From then on, I swore that I would make the Shen family pay a thousand times the price!"
Shen Qingchen was shocked. He had never imagined that there was such a hidden grudge between his fathers. He wanted to defend himself, but when he opened his mouth, his throat was dry and he couldn't say a word. In his memory, his father had always been an upright and kind businessman. Everything he did was for the prosperity of the family. Could it be that he really had accidentally committed an unforgivable mistake?
Gu Yichen seemed to see through his thoughts and smiled coldly: "You don't need to defend your father. In the business world, it's the law of the jungle. He won, and our Gu family became a laughing stock. I have been dormant for many years, and now it is time for me to take everything back."
Jiang Zhi watched Gu Yichen sink into madness, grief welling in her heart. She thought of Tang Junxi, that sunny, handsome, and righteous young man. His family had a bright future, but because of Gu Yichen's revenge plan, it was tragically wiped out. Those innocent lives, lost overnight, left behind only endless sorrow.
"What about Tang Junxi? What did he do wrong? He has always treated you as a friend and respected you, so why don't you let him go?" Jiang Zhi's eyes were red and tears were welling up in her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to let them fall.
Gu Yichen frowned slightly, a subtle hint of guilt flashing across his eyes, but that guilt vanished in an instant, replaced by an even more resolute coldness. "He was too naive, thinking he could uphold justice with his own strength. When he discovered my plan, he actually tried to stop me. How could I spare his life? In this world, only the strong can survive, and the weak can only become victims."
Shen Qingchen clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his palms, blood dripping slowly from his fingers. His eyes widened in anger, and he roared, "You lunatic! For your own personal vendetta, you have hurt so many innocent people. Do you think you can escape the punishment of the law?"
Gu Yichen shrugged nonchalantly. "Sanctions? Humph. For so many years, I've controlled a mysterious organization, roaming between countries. I have connections everywhere. Who can do anything to me? Even if you find me today, don't even think about getting out alive."
As he spoke, he clapped his hands gently, and a group of guards instantly swarmed around the secret room. Each one was sturdy and strong, holding a sharp blade, and their eyes were filled with ferocity and determination. They quickly surrounded Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, forming an airtight encirclement.
